I like a 1:2 hot bloom at 99C, ratio of 1:10-1:12, dosing 110g of coffee ground medium fine in the batch basket to 1100ml-1320ml of water, with the time set to 3 hours. I can get EY's north of 26% and the coffee tastes great. For a grind size reference I grind cold brew on Aiden at the same size as a small batch. So something like an 8 on Ode Gen 2 is a good place to start.
Thanks for all your videos Nick! Do you have a recommended grind size for doing cold brew on the Aiden? Do you go very, very coarse like you would for water and grounds in the fridge, or the same grind as if you're doing a normal pot of coffee (since it's doing hot bloom). I'm have the Fellow Ode Gen 2 for grinding.
This might not be the place to ask, but WHY the circular display? It seems so odd to cut off words that don't fit within the circle. I know you were probably trying to match the circular display on the kettles, but it just looks odd.
It depends on roast level, but for a hot bloom, slow drip cold brew on Aiden I tend to grind a bit finer than a "standard" cold brew. Somewhere around an 8 or 9 on the Ode Gen 2.
This is one of the biggest problems with the brewer right now (other than the app not working). It doesn't prompt you for grind size. It really should as that's an important factor in your beans
There’s no way you could do a full 10 cup batch with the filters they send. It’s 107 grams I just started a 10 cup batch with the taller filters that come from bonavita which are half an inch taller probably and it still filled all the way to the top after the bloom. It would completely overfill with the included filters. Don’t really understand that.

We tried this using the blue basket, cold brew preset. The machine stopped at pulse 13. We used 34 grams of coffee beans. The machine only put out about 3 oz of coffee. Very confused.
I had a similar issue, the timer ran out, but the brew never told me it was done. I had to “cancel” the brew, and it definitely didn’t brew the amount I had told it to.
@@lawrencekaroumy1997 We used a larger amount and it worked the 2nd time. I think if you use too low of an amount and/or you hit "skip", the machine doesn't know what to do. So either you have to make x amount, or you have to use specifically the basket it tells you to.
I had something similar happen with the batch brew process. I think I selected only 24 or 26 ounces (enough for two people), but it made a huge pot of really diluted coffee. Haven't tried again since.
I think it would make sense to add a guided recipe for cold brew concentrate in addition to the existing ready to drink cold brew recipe.
Thanks for the feedback. Will pass along to the team!
@@nickterzulli8912 thank you! loving my aiden so far btw~
Can't wait for the app to get more functionality. So far loving the results from the Aiden.
Yeah would love more info on cold brew concentrate

Grind size the same as you’d do for a hot coffee extraction?
Definitely coarser. I just did some dark roast on Ode Gen 2 Burrs at 9

This is why we tell users that the max dose for batch brew is 82.5 grams of coffee. This is common practice for 8-12 cup flat bottom filters.
May be that your coffee is very fresh and likes to bloom very big
Please give us "Nick's Cold Brew Concentrate" in a future brew profile update ❤

@@nickterzulli8912 So 1320ml is 46oz which makes the Aiden pick 82.5g of coffee... Do you just put 110 in anyway?

Hi there. The Fellow team is aware of this issue and we are diligently working toward a fix. We appreciate your patience!
