It is a wounded and dying soldier on the battlefield, saying good bye to his comrades and expressing the stupidity and futility of war beyond his own simple death. As a Vietnam veteran who lost friends I appreciate every word of the lyrics.
The song is a masterpiece of Home Free. The fantastic harmonies, on point. And then Tim's and Chance's voices, phenomenal. But Tim's super low notes make for an absolutely perfect goosebump feeling!
This is a masterpiece by Home Free. It's a very serious subject too. As Veteran's dAY APPROACHES WE TURN OUR ATTENTION TO those who have served AND those who are serving now
We're fools to make war on our Brothers In Arms. The truth is for generations "they" have tried to destroy our LOVE of each other with propaganda daily and movies meant to assault our minds and hearts & spirits. They are losing- LOVE ONE ANOTHER! Lift one another up. I love you AB! Stay strong, curious and just as BRILLIANT as you ARE!
Yeah, no Avi. You are thinking of Avi Kaplan, who sang with them on Ring of Fire. He used to be in Pentatonix, but left that group. The Home Free gang consists of beatboxer Adam Rupp, who also founded the group. High tenor is Austin Brown. Lead tenor is Rob Lundquist, and the guy you like is Adam Chance Ray.....known as Chance. He is baritone, but can sing tenor and bass. Has a 4-octave range. Our bassman is the incomparable Tim Foust....with a 5-octave range.
The chorusing between the 2nd and 3rd verses makes me think of people wailing - eerie, beautiful and sad. Their rendition of this song is almost an elegy. I've seen military veterans reduced to tears by it.
You first did Man of Constant Sorrow. And yes, they are unbelievable. A lot of reactors have at least shed a few tears. This is supposed to pull at your heart. And yes, haircuts and a little weight loss after COVID.
I really didn't expect humming to give me chills, but yeah, Home Free. Front to back mellow orange juice rain down on me. Grabs you by the feels and never lets go.
As a veteran, this song hit me in places I had no idea that I could feel. I was on my knees crying reminiscing of the friends I have lost to the mental scars of military service. Even the privilege of presenting flags to next of kin at military funerals of those who came before. It really just hits you in a gut and feels.
Yes indeed....I lost my Husband in 2017. He was a Vietnam Vet. with two Purple Hearts whom fought for our country with pride and humility. From my seeing the title of this song I knew I better grab the tissues!! Boy was I right....Thank You to all who have or do serve, my prayers are for you as My Husband watches over you, and Thank You to Home Free for a song that helps us remember those who have fought and are now at peace 🕊️❤️
Thank you for your service, and I shed tears everytime I watch this. And yes, our service men and women lost to the mental scars of military service. My Dad was in WWll and he was lost to his family when he came back, he was only there physically. Hardly ever spoke to anyone, barely existed, and passed when my sister and I were young.
This is a good cover version. The original song was written by Mark Knopfler from the UK band Dire Straits. It was released by them in 1984, but written in 1982. It's about the loss of lives on both sides during the Falklands conflict between Argentina & UK. A very poignant song. Dire Straits are probably one of the best live performing bands. Definitely worth a reaction.
Love these guys and love your channel man, appreciate the work for all involved. One of my favorite like mumble/hum songs is from the crash test dummies, I think? Too many concussions over the years, please forgive my memory I'm terrible with names but I think they even named the song something like "mmm hmmm". That's basically the chorus but yeah Idk, just kinda takes me back there I guess. Try and check it out sometime if you're able to actually make sense of my ramblings here ✌
Left to right in the back: Adam, Rob, & Austin. In front: Chance on the left, Tim on the right. No Avi. This gives me chills every time. Nice reaction 👌
Really waiting for MayDay "But" Avi was a guest, not a member of Home Free! Probably will be a better reaction when you know their names and are familiar with their voices!
Yes!!!!! Agree! He is NOT ready for Mayday! He's getting there, nicely. But until he knows names & the usual parts.... What's wrong with the Home Fries???
Please DON'T do Mayday yet. You've GOT TO know their names & usually roles very well before you'll totally get Mayday. Do a couple more & get ti know them individually a bit better & Mayday will get you deeper & just better. Try "Sold". "Honey I'm good". "Can't stop the feeling". "All about that bass". "Blue ain't your color". "Working for a living". "Thank God I'm a country boy". "9 to 5" (official video and LIVE- 9 to 5) or there's plenty others that are fabulous. Maybe 2 or 3 more, THEN you'll get & appreciate Mayday on a better level. 🥰🥰
Lol ok ok I won’t do it!!!! I can tell by the “26” likes on this post haha! Hey I get it and I respect you guys and the group enough to know it isn’t time yet!!! Thank you 🙏🏾
I'm late to the party, but I really hope you see this, because you've GOT to do a react to the original, by Dire Straits. This is an amazing cover... the original is mostly just Mark Knopfler's unmistakable guitar & voice. But they're like total musical opposites of each other, but that's like the only way to cover that song without seeming like a cheap copy? Mark's voice is... graceful, but plain. Soft, but gravelly. He sings & you feel the exhaustion of the narrator... simple, unvarnished truth. All the intricacy & flourish is in the fingerstyle acoustic guitar. There aren't many rock artists that can fingerstyle at all, let alone for the entire song and they're also the only singer, and the combination of the two is like nothing else in rock.
Baby Yodas with orange juice…yes, sir!!! This is so good. Loved it!!! Loved Tim’s low notes, the second singer is Chance. He’s the baritone/bass. Loved the black and white film. Tim and Chance looked ghost like in the windows. Loved it. It’s now one of my favorites! To hear more of Chance listen to I Can’t Outrun You, Some Girls Do, Yours. HF is so damn good!
Awesome reaction! Waiting for Mayday until you know each member and what part they sing... high (tenors- Austin and Rob) and low (bass-Tim and baritone-Chance)... this way you'll be prepared to hear it. 😊
I have always loved this song by Dire Straits but think Home Free did an excellent version of this song. Tim's natural bass was awesome, also Chance's solos & so were all the guys doing 5 part harmonies.
Beatboxer is Adam Rupp. Bass is Tim Foust. Baritone is Adam Chance .. called Chance. 2nd Tenor is Rob Lundquist and 1st Tenor is Austin Brown. Please react to Mayday?
Great reaction! But, nope, not ready for Mayday. You're getting there, but aren't there quite yet. You should know what each person normally does without having to guess in order to fully grasp what is going on from the very beginning of the song. Also, in this song (Brothers In Arms) it's the full gang. No beatboxing, but Adam was there humming and vocalizing along. Each song is different, and tailored to the effect they want the song to bring out and who would be the best to do so. So it might be like this one with one or two leading or all leading at points.
If you haven't already reacted to Everybody Walking This Land, please do! It's a wonderful song with a powerful message and make sure you listen to Tim's message at the end and know that he speaks for many of us!! Great reaction, will be watching for the next one!
Tim Foust is deep bass, 5 octave range. Adam Chance is baritone, 4 1/2 octave range. Rob is 2nd tenor, Austin is the 1st tenor, and Adam Rupp is the beatbox expert. All three of them have 3 1/2 octave ranges.
AWESOME Reaction Video! Loved it! Hopefully I can get my Mom & Aunt to go see them in concert! Aunt is just not doing great with her Health, but I showed my aunt this reaction video and she said GREAT Job. Slowly but surely my best friend she will come around and like Home Free.
I just found you tonight and am binge watching your Home Free reactions. What a delightful and fun guy! A bit crazy too, but I love it. You are one of the few reactors who can actually sing!! You have made me laugh so hard! Thank you for keeping a G language rating!! I have been a Home Fry for about 5 years and have been to 4 concerts. The guys are just as nice in person! Check out Diamond Dreams and Fishing in the Dark/Down in the Boondocks mashup. You can never get enough Home Free. Keep the reactions coming!!
To me, the silhouette against the light coming in from the window is very reminiscent of the symbol on the POW-MIA remembrance flag honoring our captured and missing military personnel. It’s haunting.
My faves of theirs I don't think you've reacted to in no particular order: champange living on a beer budget, love me like that, travelin soldier, my church, hillbilly bone, castle on the hill, and mayday. You already did: in the blood, how great thou art, and folsom prison.
Loving your reactions, just listening to their beauty. Probably my favorite of their many songs on a personal level but the harmonies. Maybe check out Tim and peter hollens misty mountains, for the bass and also the 100 plus layering they did with just 2 voices. Amazing !! AB nation!!
The bass is Tim Foust. Avi is from Pentatonix. This is one of their songs off of their album Land Of The Free that came out earlier this year. The whole album is awesome. Try Travelin soldier and Mt country tis of thee
Oh yeah! Definitely! I love to watch your face, so full of expression! Just remember in Mayday Tim the bass singer 1st here who did lead in this one (Brother's in ARM'S) has long dark hair & no grey streaks! And Chance sings baritone and sings 2nd here right after Tim in this one (Brothers In ARM'S!) You got this AB! We believe in you! ♥️
I love the hmmmms etc in this song! I could listen to a whole song with these beautiful harmonies! Home Free is absolutely so wonderful, I can’t get enough of them. I liked your reaction, but get another couple songs under your belt before you do Mayday!
This song is from their album Land of the Free. You can order it from Amazon along with a few others. No I don’t think you’re quite ready for Mayday just yet but you’re getting there. I’ll be looking forward to it as well. When you get ready to do Home Free’s Christmas music please please do Do You Hear What I Hear along with Full of Cheer which was written by Tim Foust and Cold Hard Cash.
Now that you have heard this, you are so ready for Mayday! The guy who you think doesn't sing a lot is Adam Chance, usually referred to as Chance. He is best heard in the videos for "Some Girls Do", "Born In The USA", "Everybody Walking This Land" and their "Sea Shanty Medley". All of those songs are phenomenal. But really when it comes to Home Free you really can't miss. They are all incredible!
The base of course started with Tim. Then Chance came in with the next solo. In the back from left to right is Adam, the beatboxer, then Rob and Austin on the far right. These guys are amazing, always on point.
Before you can do Mayday, you'll need to know everyone's name's and what parts they sing. If it takes writing them down, do it. Let's just say the surprises you get with Mayday, will make you appreciate knowing who each guy is and what parts they sing. It'll make you get up and walk away more then once with a lot of extra orange juice. More like raining orange juice instead of sprinkling orange juice.
Sure someone mentioned it but Avi Kaplan-formerly of Pentatonix is not a member of HomeFree. The menbers are Tim, Chance, Adam, Rob and Austin from lowest to highest register. Adam Rupp is also the GENIUS beatboxer.
You mentioned that you love Chance's voice but hadn't heard him take lead often. I didn't see a reaction to "Cover Me Up" on your playlist. I know it's been a while since you did this reaction, but if you are still jonesing to hear him you really need to listen to that one. Another good one that I'm not sure I saw on your reactions was "Brother". I agree that his voice is super fantastic!
This song always gives me a haunting “The Hobbit” vibe. Can never listen without getting goosebumps and depending on how into it, I get tears as well. Thanks for the reaction!
It is a wounded and dying soldier on the battlefield, saying good bye to his comrades and expressing the stupidity and futility of war beyond his own simple death. As a Vietnam veteran who lost friends I appreciate every word of the lyrics.

Haha I think I need to do more HF according to the HoneFries I’m not ready lol
If you love Rob..... he's gonna blow you away on Mayday

As soon as you learn who the bass is and what he looks like; then, and only then, will you be ready for Mayday!
My nightly prayer and love of Home Free’s rendition of Brother’s in Arms.
They are the very best !!!!!
I've heard this several times now, and it's just haunting. They sound like organ music in the background.
It’s wild right 🤯🔥
Also the visuals. There are times where they are transparent like ghostly figures...haunting...
Right in the heart. Respect for those who served and suffered.
This is a masterpiece by Home Free. It's a very serious subject too. As Veteran's dAY APPROACHES WE TURN OUR ATTENTION TO those who have served AND those who are serving now

Peace, Love! God Bless our Service Members!
Home Free sang with Lee Greenwood and the military in the song "God Bless The USA". The bass is from the next town over here in Southeast Texas.
The beatboxer is Adam Rupp. Rob Lundquist, with the magnificent beard, is the low tenor. The cute ginger is Austin Brown, high tenor.
Home Free is just the best! Tim Foust, their deep bass: awesome.
What a powerful song and message captured and delivered perfectly. This one stays with you. And yeah, you can do Mayday now.
They are singing from the grave. When they stand in front of the windows you can see right through them. This is masterful.
I find it incredible how Tim still has his vibrato at his deepest point.
