Heartfelt, man. ❤ When there are no more skirts to be smoothed or dice to roll; no more mustaches to knuckle, spanks to administer, and braids to tug… your WoT journey must be at its end. 😢
Congratulations and condolences. You hit every note of those post-WoT emotions perfectly.
Really makes me appreciate the power of narrative curiosity and the authors brave enough to take us along for the ride of a lifetime.
@@trevorlawrence6009 don’t forget she folded her arms beneath her breasts. And let us not forget the licking of lips or setting of jaws.
I will cherish this series forever. What a journey. Thankful I got to share it with you!
I saw this in my TH-cam feed and I'm glad I watched. What can any of us really say other than to welcome you to an end, and a beginning, and a fandom, and a shared experience that transcends decades and tens of millions of similar journeys. I picked up The Eye of the World in 1990 thanks to a librarian who loved feeding my fifteen year old soul with more fantasy fiction I could escape into. And it became a part of my life, an integral part. Like you explained of your own journey, the Wheel of Time imprinted itself on so many of my own life memories. It's threads entwined in my own. I'm not sure I ever was the same as a reader at the end of my own journey. So, once again, welcome. And if you ever want to talk The Wheel of Time, let me know.

“i’ll never get to read _______ again for the first time” is one of the most beautiful and hardest truths
@@abrahamnewman1792 it hit me hard the next day after not picking up wheel of time 😭
Just wait til you hit middle-age and realize that there is a hard, finite number to how many books you’ll be able to read in your mortal life. I did the predictive math and it’s sobering.
@ thankfully my list is yes ever growing but not nearly as vast as most.
Yea I had this same reaction when I finished the series. I had grown to love all of the characters. I had watched them become simple sheep herders and braid tuggers from the two rivers, to young adults fighting at the forefront to save the world from destruction. I had a sense of loss when I read the last chapter, and I don't think there will be another fantasy series that will ever move me and give me that huge post book depression quite like the WOT. Glad you enjoyed it.
Welcome to the club man :-) Congrats on the journey!! Heads up, the best WoT read is the 1st re-read.
@@aldan7812 thank you man! Means a lot. Yeah I am honestly looking forward to my reread. I already know it’s going to be epic. Picking up on all the foreshadowing but also just to relive it all.
This is pretty much how I felt when I read Lord of the Rings for the very first time, so when it happened again with Wheel of Time, it didn't hit me that hard. To me this mixed feeling about haveing just experienced a very satisfying ending combined with the melancholic sadness of that it's over now is a thing of beauty and a rare thing to happen, so even if there is sadness involved, I love it.
Glad people are still enjoying this series. Fantasy novels of the 90s were a different thing, and there was less pressure to edit down to appeal to popular markets. This can be challenging for younger modern readers but it’s all about the world-building and full immersion, which was easier to feel before the digital age. Jordan was honestly brilliant, and Sanderson did it justice.
I looked it up, total word count on WoT is over 4.4 million. It would be a tough sell if it came out today in our tik-tok-ified goldfish-brain anti-effort pop culture. So props to you for taking this journey.
@@artlesscalamity I never grew up reading like I do now. Wheel of time was my first taste of 90s fantasy and you are totally right. It’s a different ball game. Now it’s instant action. Telling not showing. Dialogue that is just exposition. But wheel of time…. An organic story unfolding in the most natural of ways. A world to live in and explore that truly feels alive. Complex characters that grow and develop. Things are earned. I can go on.
Todays fantasy books and just books in general are a joke. And it saddens me. But I’m just thankful I have so many classics to read. So many books that never get the spotlight that I know are true gems.
Thanks for sharing this. I can feel your deep sense of loss with finishing the story. I'm glad at least the series ended well. And I'm glad you're looking forward to the next new book or franchise. When you've had some time to digest it all, I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on the series overall. Its absolutely daunting to me, so i probably wont read it myself, for a couple more years, but... It remains looming large on my TBR list, hehe
@@lleutenantdan thank you. It’s a journey I will cherish forever. I plan on doing a wheel of time series review (spoiler free) then a wheel of time review filled with spoilers! Eventually. It’s a long series and I’ve got to actually write notes down for this one.

Thank you! I have no regrets with sticking it through with little to no breaks.
I finished WoT about a year ago now, it got me through one of the toughest years of my life, and I feel that sense of loss not being able to go back to that world blind again. Such a great series, my number one now. For anyone starting the series, just avoid googling anything please, spoilers everywhere on that road

I had the opposite feeling at the end of Wheel of Time. That ending was ecstatic and satisfying. Every character was apotheosized by the end. Things were raw and climactic and consummatory. I loved this series.

That is a fine choice. I couldn’t take a break after Towers of Midnight. I had to jump into the last book! Excited for you too to finish this wonderful journey!
Congrats for finishing this great adventure!
I am reading Northanger Abbey at the moment :)
I feel in love with the first book of the series. I 'd read the whole series again periodically plus once with every new book. And then Jordan died. I had such hope for Sanderson picking up the series but I just couldn't take it. For me, the whole series died when Sanderson touched it.
I still won't start a series now until it's finished.
I’ll never experience that feeling. Growing up with the book series as it released. Then seeing Jordan pass. It’s tough. In my opinion I thought Sanderson did an excellent job and I’m thankful he saw the series to the end.
However I wouldn’t have been opposed to Jordan writing more books. Because I’m sad it’s over.
Im on page 250 in the first book of the Dune series. ! excited !
You know reading it for the second time is about as good as the first. Its so big you forget a lot. Also there is just so much RJ sets up through out the series that you can connect so many dots you did not even know were there.

Oh I’m so pumped for you! Take your sweet time with it. Savor every word.
I’ve mentioned it in a comment to you prior, but I’m on book 7, and loving it… you know an author is doing it right with a series when you keep thinking the last one you read was the best one, which has pretty much been the case for me.
I do augment my physical reading with the audiobook version a tiny bit (driving, etc) but prefer to absorb material the old fashioned way. Did you listen to the audio books at all on your journey? The early books I found the Rosamund Pike audio version which was sooo well done. She immersed herself into them, which likely helped her performance in the show.
@@ryandusyk4848 book 7 was one of my favorites in the series! It’s amazing how the world keeps getting built out with each book. It never feels forced.
I did a tiny bit of audio books in the beginning. Because of my driving that first year. Pike IS Wheel of Time. I hope she finishes the entire series. She’s amazing. Immersive!
Although I dabbled a little in the audio books I read physically 95% of the series.
@ I really am loving book 7 too. I am about half way through but particularly love how it started… hearing the other perspectives on Dumai’s Wells… which was probably one of the craziest parts of the series so far (I am avoiding spoilers for others) and getting to sort of re-experience it was awesome!
@ exactly! I love how you learn about the world through other perspectives but also how these other character perceive the world and events. It’s one of my favorite parts about WoT.

My favorite reccomendarion after aWheel of Tine has always been the Dresden Files. Its a totally different type of series, it's first person pov fr9m one character. New spring is a prequel. I personally am saving it for when I want to return to the world of WoT. But I did read books 1-14 with two Stephen King breaks. I’m glad I read it all the way through with little to no breaks because it just makes for a more immersive experience!

@@Armstrongaj15 funny thing the slog was one of my favorite parts of the series. Except book 10. Truly felt like a synopsis would’ve done better.
The slog was wonderful in my opinion. I love slower stories so when the series slowed down for a few books I really got to sit with the characters and really be with them in whatever situation they found themselves in. Made me appreciate the world and scope of things.

Hey congrats idk if you only drink black coffee but if you don't I'd recommend you the Mexican "cafe de olla" or pot coffee to celebrate the journey
I don't think I have heard of this!? I'll have to ask my wife. She is a coffee master!
I can give you the recipe my grandma uses if you want me to
@ please!
@ we don’t have a clay pot 😭
You don't necessarily need a clay pot you just need 4 cups of water 4tbsp of ground coffee 1 small "piloncillo" (Mexican sweetener) and 1 cinnamon stick
You boil the water with the cinnamon stick and piloncillo once the piloncillo disolves you add the ground coffee and let it cook for 5 minutes without letting it boil again and then you just strain the coffee to the cup
Now do Book of The New Sun. Only series you're able to read for the first time twice... or more.
@@mudryyf.2990 I’ve heard so much about that series! So much you can gain on rereads.
Alright I guess I'll read them again for the 5th time.
How do you feel about Lord of the Rings? I think the world depth is similar, although Wheel of Time does it very differently.
@@michaelmoreno7889 don’t hate me, I haven’t read Lord of the Rings yet… I just know Jordan was clearly inspired by Tolkien!
I'm 35% through Eye of the World. It's very good! I get why people like it! At this point I would say that its writing is better than Kingkiller, but I suspect it gets less love these days because it is more "trad". For a more modern fantasy recommendation, I still say A Song of Ice and Fire is the way to go, albeit with two caveats: 1) It gets very involved what with all the chars and subplots, so if you really want to try to keep everything straight, take notes, and 2) It isn't done, and likely won't ever be. Much like Kingkiller, I don't consider 2) to be a reason to not read it 😀
EDIT: Remember, a friend of mine has read ALL of WoT 3x, and plans to do a fourth read! I guarantee if you do this, you will enjoy it even more. Because the anticipation of knowing what happens means you will now find and appreciate all the details that get you there...details that you couldn't notice before.
Whoa HOT TAKE! that’s wild! I think the writing in Kingkiller is one of a kind and some of the best ever. This is still coming from a young lad who doesn’t have the years of reading you have. But I still stand by it. Name of the Wind shaped my taste in the language and type of storytelling I like.
Then wheel of time is just so classic. The language is very historic and almost academic. It’s not as poetic as Kingkiller. I love how realistically paced WoT is. That is something I don’t think we will ever get in any modern books.
I’m so excited for a reread. So much to pick up on and the preconceived knowledge going in will allow me to experience the world and story in a whole new light!
@@Thomas.R.Howell Kingkiller is par for the course compared to a well written first person point of view story. I'd argue that John Irving novels that have this PoV are a step up, plus books like One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, which has fantastic imagery sections as well.
Kingkiller (other than the prologues, epilogues, and interludes) is "stuck" with using Kvothe's voice, and while at times he can be "poetic" (when he's in an emotional or dramatic situation), most times I don't find that to be the case. His prose, however, is much better than Sanderson's.
It does feel Young Adult at times, especially Wise Man's Fear, so that dings the prose/style a bit for me, because of the voice Rothfuss gave Kvothe (this is a really big issue I have with Catcher In the Rye, which lowered my enjoyment of that book). Obviously there are adult situations, so not completely, but again, for good coming of age style stories that most certainly are not YA, Irving's A Prayer For Owen Meany and The Cider House Rules are where I like to point people.
I think Eye of the World makes it a bit easier to play with the language since it uses a third party narrator voice, even though it's all from Rand's PoV. And so when it breaks into imagery and foreshadowing, I notice!
But it's ok; we can have different thoughts on the same books! 🙂
There's only one answer to this feeling of emptiness.
start over!
@sovereignprints_217 I agree! Haha I hear the best read of wheel of time is the second time through. I’m excited I’ll have that to look forward to in the future
@@Thomas.R.Howell wheel of time rereads are so special because there's so much. In my experience, I love the "slog" books on reread because I'm able to slow down and fall in love with different aspects of the world I had totally forgotten about.
@ the slog was one of my favorite areas of the story even on my first read through. I LOVE slow stories. So this day to day pacing was a treat! I’m excited for a reread and picking up on all the little details and foreshadowing.
I really want to watch the video but can someone tell me if there is any spoilers?😭
@@destinctout2972 no spoilers!!
For Bella
for Bella
Malazan is calling you now
@@JoaAvs it is but I will delay that call for just a bit haha need a break to read some shorter less dense stories. Wheel of time was multilayered. Malazan I hear is adult Wheel of time 😂
Yeah, it’s okay that the “now what?” will linger for a while. It’s a big fantasy world today goodbye to.
@@tomgartin it’s the worst and best feeling. I’m so thankful for that Journey!
Man how the hell could it take you so long to read it.
@@Alienmoonbathin it’s not an easy read and I’m a slow reader. 2,000 plus names characters. A lot to keep track of.
Additionally a LOT happened in my life during that 2 year period. Emergency heart surgery. I had to move twice. I got engaged and married. I’m happy I took that long to read it.
Heh? There is no such thing as the end of Wheel of Time. Time is a wheel. The next book is The Eye of the World.
There are no ends or beginnings
