Eddie proved his mother wrong! What a success and a legend he became!!!!!👑🎸
He did. But it's worth pointing out that by all accounts, she did end up proud of her sons. Just didn't encourage it much to begin with!
Top notch production and story telling about one of the greatest musicians of the last 100 years. I hope these are seen by millions!
Awesome dude, thanks again 🙏🏻
Alex, Wolfgang & Valerie all need to SEE THIS 😔 I'm SURE they would REALLY VALUE it.
I would love it if that were the case - I am just trying to pay tribute to a legend. But honestly, given how things have gone with previous fan projects, I can't predict how they would respond to this.
Need to see this? Wolfie grew up with the legend. They had conversations and moments you and I can't even imagine. This is nothing compared to that.
BEAUTIFUL COMPREHENSIVE STUDY of ED'S LIFEPATH.
An excellent way to inform your audience without getting copyright attacked. Really enjoying the series.
Thanks for that. I still might get copyright-attacked, even though I'm not using the music, but I'm hoping that people will be kind and let it stay up. Really glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻
Great work, I’ve never seen most of those photos.
Eddie when lucid, was such a sweet authentic one of a kind
He was really an angel
Great work on this doc.
Man you got some really great stuff here!! Love it keep it coming
Thanks a lot for saying 😊 I'll try to - might be a while before I have some new episodes, but I aim to do some in the near future.
This is really an amazing documentary!! Can’t wait for the 3rd installment!!
Wow, thanks so much for the kind words 🙏🏻 Hope I can keep the standard up!
Fantastic! The shot of them as kids by the car was a new one to me.
Thank you! It was new to me too until recently - a pretty late addition.
This was wonderful, and the symphonic backround made it even more surreal…Ed was the most amazing guitarist I’ve seen. He just had it all, and it was all his own! IMHO. Thank you! ❤️🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻❤️
I'll say thanks right back at you for that. Great comments - they mean a lot!
@@iconsremembered well deserved! I really loved the format. Loved and subbed. Look forward to any offerings you have time for. The narration was great too. I’m not blowing smoke here either. I love Van Halen! All of it!
Be well, and I look forward to more from your channel! ❤️🤘🎵🎵🎵
"I wrote my own"
Yes, you did, Ed..... and ohhhhh so good.
Thank you for putting together these incredible videos! I feel very fortunate that I got to see VH live on 8 different occasions starting in 1980. After Ed’s passing, I visited the memorial on Los Lunas as well as the liquor store right down the street where “Van Halen” is carved into the sidewalk
Really appreciate you taking the time to say all this. Very envious you saw them play so many times at the height of their powers! That was a sad time after he passed, but good that you could visit those sites. I hope I can make it there and see it someday myself. Thanks again 👍🏻
That was really good! There was lots of information and funny stories in that short little vid. Thanks for making it!
You're very welcome. Glad you enjoyed it - hope I'm doing some justice to such a big subject.
Well done documentary, ... Looking forward to the rest... *: )*
Thank you very much for the kind words. It means a lot! Part 3 will be out later this week and there will be five parts altogether in this first run. If you subscribe (it's free), then you'll know as soon as the parts are out 🙂
Great stuff, love the audio clips
i just would have assumed Hendrix was his big influence! Great doc. i was fascinated to hear he is one of those who put in 10,000 hours of practise. it all looks so natural to him, like the guitar is an extension of his arm
Yeah it's funny - considering the pair of them are usually seen as the two biggest innovators in rock guitar playing, EVH has always maintained he had absolutely no interest in Hendrix. He didn't end up sounding much like Clapton either, but it's what taught him how to play lead in the first place.
And yeah, he played much of the day every day. I'd say he probably put in 10,000 hours every couple of years, never mind a lifetime.
One of his friends from junior high school said at that time he could easily play any CREAM song note for note . Clapton was his thing .
BRAVO! Excellent series.
Thanks dude 😉
Thank you for this 2nd part. Waitin for the 3rd one. Cheers from Italy.
Thanks a lot, but no need to wait - it came out on Sunday evening! See it here:

Great stuff I’m really enjoying these 👍
This is fantastic Simon 😊. Even better than part 1. Cant wait for the next part🔥
nice
Thanks 👍🏻 Tell your friends!
This is brilliant. Thank you! 🙏
Thank you for saying. Really glad to hear - one more on the way next week. Then maybe I'll take a little break 😅
YES! super excited for this!! Thank you for sharing! Do you know how many total parts it will be?
Thanks for that and glad to hear. The plan is that there will initially be five parts - covering up to when Van Halen get signed.
I'll probably take some break after that and see how these are received, but I'd like to go on and do another 4 or 5 parts covering up to 1984/85.
In an ideal world, I'd like to do the whole story of course, but it's a lot of work! If the audience can grow a bit and it continues to be enjoyed, then I'd definitely like to try.
@@iconsrememberedplease do! This is to the point, and accurate…and man…thanks for the work already put in! Jan Van Halen was amazing too, and Alex completely underrated imho. Master of both time and space, and Ed needed him to make things work the way he needed, as they both had the same connections to their instruments, I’d say Alex was just as much of a genius as Ed was….but because of Ed and how much he revolutionized the guitar and how they were built, and Amos….its hard for Alex to get the proper nod! ❤
Videos created with passion .....
Thanks a lot for saying that. They do mean a lot to me, so it's really cool if that comes through and people can see it.
We need to thank you. The voice over audio selections - you edited from interviews, are meticulously crafted into these bitesize tributes.
🤘🏻
It is so weird to me that he really didn't seem to listen to much music. Maybe growing up playing all different styles on different instruments and what not just rubbed off. I think Ed talked down how well he actually knew music theory, he took classical piano lessons forever and would write riffs on the piano and transcribe them to guitar. He would have picked up so much as a kid running around pklaying little gigs with his Dad, that kind of thing is invaluable.

EVH
I can't be sure but i think Eric Clapton's rejection of the tribute EVH and Brian May did for him, absolutely crushed him. In those early interviews, he talked freely about Clapton's influence on him. Then that rejection and he never talked about him again. EVH is a lot more complicated individual than most think. He was an incredibly insecure individual for whatever reason. He he never viewed what he did on guitar as legitimate. He saw it as cheating. I think he considered his piano playing as more musical and structured which is why he went back to his first instrument. But he seemed to surrounf himself with those serious session guitarist type people. Maybe to ease his insecurities. Guys like Schon, Lukather, and Holdsworth. I think no matter how many times people told him how great he was.....hever never believed it. When a guy like G.E. Smith says "Master guitar player" you know he is legit......but EVH couldn't accept it. Les Paul thought he was great. Quincy Jones had to have him on the Thriller album. Just everyone thought he was great. The doors of history swing on incredibly small hinges. Who knows. If Clapton had ever told him, "you know, i think you are unique and special," who knows what that would've done for him.
Great comments - very interesting and I think there's a lot valid in what you say. I think it's possible to overstate the impact Clapton's unfriendliness and bad words about Starfleet had on Ed, but I think it did hurt him a bit. Clapton was the one and only guitarist he really was open about as an early influence, and I'm sure it stung on some level to not really have his approval. EVH was definitely insecure and complex though. My feeling, just from all the interviews I've read and listened to, was that he was simultaneously very modest/insecure, and yet also knew how revered he was. When someone is that careful about ever publicly displaying ego or self-importance, it's difficult to gauge, but I do think somewhere deep down even Ed had an ego that needed to be stroked and could be bruised.
@iconsremembered true, it would be an overstatement to say that one slight caused him life-long hark, but it had to have hurt. And speaking of ego; unpopular opinion maybe but I think 5150 is some of his best arrangements and songs, musically. I think he was on a mission to prove to himself and everyone that he could still be successful without Dave. And that album was their first #1. Such a complicated character though.
Classmates said Edward played Clapton's work in CREAM note for note in early junior high . 🤯 junior high
God needed the best up there? He took him from us.
" I started drinking and smoking all in one day" Two of the worst habits ever and they took their toll on him.
Sadly yes, but at least he reached a point in his life where he was clean and healthy and happy before illness took him.
'promo sm'
Quite ironic that the guitar that he thought would never hurt him...nearly destroyed his life. Gave him a hedonistic pass to doing drugs, alcoholism, womanizing, cheating on his wife...
One of the most overrated guitarists in history. Took the music and harmony out of guitar and turned it into a gadget of garage noises. If Clapton was an influence he sue did not learn taste from being over top. The chain smoker who liked to degrade other guitarist was one of the big reason that the rock industry crashed
