A case of gutlessness from Warner Bros. This Body Snatchers movie was in a Columbus OH theater for one week in 1994. The Puppet Masters movie (w/ Donald Sutherland, btw) came out the same year.
The movie was shot in early 1992, and was originally slated for a wide release that fall. But Warner went with a more comedic movie, Innocent Blood, because they thought the other horror releases coming out at that time, namely Candyman, Hellraiser III, Dr. Giggles and Dracula, would overwhelm the film's potential. So it got pushed to different release dates in 1993, and got a limited release in 1994.

its actually a lot more pessimistic than simply saying "I have a right to choose! I'm an individual, man" really what is his last act as an individual. It's to run and kill himself because the aliens are right, he's hopelessly outnumbered and outcoordinated. If he did matter he'd stay and seeing as how dad ended up it was futile. It's a dark joke. Malcious fascist compliance has and often will wipe out individuals will. Mussolini Italy, Hitler Germany, usually from the military down. For fascism it was about the greater whole "the race" for the aliens its about "the race". you have to just wipe out things before they take over and are weak. Like they were as first arrivals whenever before the movie or as paramilitary social groups in reality. Like Forest Whittaker explains to what dad here doesn't want to believe "it's already too late they took over the base"
When he gets in, he closes the window behind him, which would've been his best route for escape. After Whitaker takes his own life, it's reasonable to assume they found the dad right after. And the sedative they meant to use on Whitaker's character instead gets used on him. And it might not have happened, if he didn't close that window...
