The best position that I have discovered is "Get in the bed and listen to your intuition..... adjust your body according to how you feel. Nighty Night and have Sweet Dreams!" I'm 76 and this works for me.
Do you suffer from a hollow back? This is what I had but ever since I learnt to do belly breathing whereby you move your sacrum in and out in line with your inhales and exhales, then you'll probably notice that everything falls into place and very nicely too. Try it - it definitely worked for me.
@@Daoistify I was like that until I listened to bedtime audio books or stories. You eventually drift off, especially with some of their relaxation tips included. But I am 71
This Ai interpreter totally dropped the ball on every aspect of getting a good night sleep 💤. He forgot to mention that the position and type of pillow is paramount to not snoring and better breathing. It also helps relieve stress on the spine, allowing you more comfort. He also never mentioned the type of mattress that you’re sleeping on. Didn’t mention anything about adjustable beds either. So in conclusion, I’m giving this video a score of 4 out of 10. Do you agree?🤔
This is probably your body saying something is off.. like , you don't get enough oxygen(snoring), or something else. I get nightmares when my leg, back, or some other body part is cold, or the blood circulation is cut off.(Like a numb arm).
I side sleep, mostly on my right side but its uncomfortable for my digestive system, acid reflux, GERD, hiatus hernia. Worryingly it feels like my heart is lying heavily on right side and my lungs feel compressed somehow. Left side sleeping is more comfortable for my acid reflux and stomach pains and also it seems like there's more space for my heart and lungs. Weird me.
I always thought, sleeping on my left side was worse because when there's a blockage, it's usually on the left side. When I Googled for some answers, there are too many conflicting answers.
1/10/25 I have been a left-side sleeper for the past 17 years. After I was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation in 2021 I can't do that anymore as it causes this symptom. Since the heart is on the left side, weight from my fat and other organs presses on it so I have had to change to sleeping on my right side. If I am having severe heartburn, I will lie on my left side to keep acid from going up the esophagus; I can only do this for about 10-15 minutes. I really miss lying on my left side. I'm surprised that lying on your back is good for you--it's horrible for your spine--you need to put a pillow under your knees to straighten out the lower part.
I naturally sleep the right way, on my left side in the fetal position but I turn to the right side if I get uncomfortable. I can't sleep on my back or front
Have you got medical proof this is true? I asked my doctor if it was dangerous to sleep on the side of your heart, cos I had heard your organs fall on it and squash it, and she said NO! Your internal organs do not squash your heart if you sleep on this side!
I try to sleep on my right side because of this. It makes sense to me that the heart is more to the left side of your chest so if you sleep on your left side ribs, lungs and muscle will be weighing down more on the heart because there is more weight to the right .
@@fredmcveigh9877 I repeat: I asked my QUALIFIED DOCTOR if this was the case, and she said NO! It does not do your heart harm if you sleep on your left side!
I have chronically sprained sacro-illiac joints, so when I lie on my back it irritates them and they hurt; it wakes me up. But I also have tight, weak illio-psoas muscles, so laying on my side for very long makes them hurt due to body laying on them. Laying on stomach makes me fall asleep every time, but it is also hard on my back. So, I usually start out my sleep sort of sitting up, against a wedge pillow, adjusted for a less steep incline. but I wake up after a couple of hours and really want to lay down, so thus starts the difficulty the rest of the night
I used to sleep on my Stomach never any problems untill a serious back injury now I have to sleep on my side or back its never felt right I think everyones has their own preference on their sleeping position if it feels right and you have no Problems why change
That's incorrect. I have GERD. Your stomach curves upwards to the left at the beginning. If you lie on your right side, there is a greater chance of acid reflux.
I rotate from left to right and if I have trouble falling asleep then I get on my back. If I have any gas then the left side is much better to alleviate that. Rarely do I fall asleep on my stomach.
I’ve pretty much slept on my right side all my life; however being I’ve now aged I find that unfortunately I wake up many rimes during the night trying to fall back to sleep. I have found it much more difficult to fall asleep on my back and when I try to sleep on my left side that doesn’t seem to work either and I go back to being on my right side. Frustrating in my present attempts to fall asleep. I even searched for the perfect pill to help this problem but even taking unison and a melatonin pill together doesn’t seem to help me stay asleep solid thru the night. Hoping to receive a suggestion that will work, thank you.
You could try a long body pillow, place it lengthways alongside your body, on the side you DON'T want to sleep on. Change it to whichever side you want as the night goes on. 😊
I’ve been through terrible insomnia. I don’t have a firm answer, but about 7 years later ;”(that long) it got “better”. No screens after 7. Have sleepy time tea.keep house 65 degrees. Hot bath before bed. Take 5mg melatonin. Ashgwanda. Magnesium an hour before bed. Read a book in bed until sleepy.
While most would not or cannot utilize these, you left out: --"the bat"--sleeping upside down, whether hanging by ankles or on one of those rotating back decompressing devices--blood rushes to the head, can be beneficial in the very short term, such as staying awake when struggling to survive, but is bad long term, can lead to swelling in blood vessels in the head while also reducing beneficial circulation elsewhere especially the lower extremities. --zero-G/"the astronaut"--not sufficiently tested at the Earth's surface but likely suffers the same fallbacks as sleeping in actual outer space, namely a weakening of both bones and muscle over time.

if you have night acid reflux sleeping on your left side will help reduce it sleeping on your back can make it worse un less you sleep in a very upright position like you could in a hospital bed
When sleeping on your back to avoid snoring place a small piece of medical paper tape across your mouth by rotating your lips into your mouth and place the tape on the skin and not your lips. This will keep your mouth closed and help avoid flies, spiders and snoring.
that's funny Abraham slept in a tent and had multiple sleeping partners and lived to be 175. he could still climb mountains into his 100's. same with Joshua and Caleb who could fight like young men into their 80's . long life is a gift , it doesn't depend on sleeping . when i was young i could go for weeks without sleep and then i slept in a bed for 3 days to recover. even when God himself says you will die he has given men extra years to live.

Nothing weird about that. Left side sleepers have digestive, coronary, and respiratory benefits. You're doing fine sleeping on your left side.
