Absolutely wonderful arrangment.Sounds like an long lost old folk song. Hope The Proclaimers gonna like it too.
This is amazing. It's right up there with Daughter's cover of Get Lucky, that turns it from an upbeat party song into an introspective ballad tinged with regret. I think instead of regret here, it's more of a love ballad, with the gravity of the love the singer has for the one he or she is singing to coming through principally. The original is more one of the elation of falling in love, this is something more akin to Metallica's Nothing Else Matters, a hymn to deep commitment.

Pretty great take on this classic song
Julie’s and Spencer’s voices are so harmonious and also so awesome as leads. Not familiar with this song. But can’t imagine the original being even close to being better...but this is just my humble opinion. What do I base this comment on? Easy answer...never heard a Running Mates’ cover which was not amazing and professionally executed. Vocals and guitar, whether solo or duets, lead and/or accompaniment, are top tier, IMHO. Each have wonderful and unique vocals. Thank you for putting your performances out for our enjoyment. Good luck and God’s many Blessings as you use the gifts HE has Given you.

First time i heard it, i was not convinced… but to be honest, this song means so much to me , it has clung to my soul for many years… that it is hard to hear it otherwise than the original song from the Proclaimers.But i got drawn back to this version. And i started to listen very carefully and wow, the voices , the rythm, the feeling in the song made it so different.
But in a way, the love for the other person is so more tangible in this version, compared to the more uptempo, party- like original.
