So excited about this collaboration! Happy to have had the chance to catch up with an old college friend, and super thankful The Other Favorites took time from their busy tour schedule to make some music with little ol' me.

I'm old enough to be your grandfather (74). I'm also a professional guitarist/singer who's played and sung rock for a living since I was 16 (was a studio guy in Chicago for many years). You kids blew me away! You are the real thing, without a doubt. Thank you.

Takes a good guitarist to make a single electric guitar sound so full and complete and a Telecaster at that. They really are more versatile than we give them credit for - Telecasters - Josh is superb. As another 60 something guitarist singer I'm also blown away by these young musicians performing without multiple effects and overproduction. It's refreshing.
I totally agree, talent galore! I don't play guitar, but if I did, it would be a Tele :-)
The tele is simple you can either play it or you can't . I have owned several of them of all values including custom shop they to me are the finest guitar out there . These guys have lots of talent too . There life in the fast lane cover is right on .
The Tele is the most versatile guitar, does everything from spikey punk to mellow jazz. It’s just a perfect instrument, so simple but so effective.
Lou Davidson, Yes, not easy to make a single guitar sound that good, and great harmony's too.
I would love if next time they directly recorded the guitar instead of through a vocal mic, that would do so much more justice to his playing and the mix would be a lot fuller especially in the low ends :))
My favorite thing about Josh's covers is that he really "gets" what these songs are and what they ought to feel like.
Absolutely, it’s one of his superpowers. I have listened to his various singers and they never sound as good as they did with Josh. This doesn’t include Carson and his brother Skyler. They get it.

Taylor and Carson really nail this song, and beat all previous versions. But as always; Josh. When you can do what he does with “just” a Telecaster (the only electric a real player needs), or a no-cutaway Martin 000 (see other videos), you aren’t just a performer, or a session player. You are a true freakin’ master musician. Real artist. Please don’t stop. And btw, Sixteen Tons just proves it again. You guys belong in the Congressional Library of Eternity or whatever it is called.

Alannah Miles grew up about three quarters of an hour drive from where I grew up. I used to see her in little dive bars. Thanks for bringing back some three decades old memories of the good old days.

Been following Josh and Carson for about as long as they've been around. Originally for the folk and bluegrass covers, and eventually because as a musician they sure keep me humble. Have to say, this trio is, of all the collaborations, absolutely amazing. I would be so happy with an album of you three with rhythm accompaniment. Just fantastic work.
Josh, Taylor, and Carson caught lightning in a bottle with this rendition of Black Velvet. I've been around a long time and that piece gave me shivers and brought tears simultaneously.

Wow dont lose each other. Great harmony. I used to play in bands. We tried to get a motown sound. Not easy for 5 white guys from Va. we never had anything like that. Iguess we needed a lady..for those high parts. You guys just knocked me down this morning. Good choice of songs. Have you ever considered..some old Patsy cline or some of the country rock stuff. Some of it is so old you could make it your own.

Interesting to see comments on here from "older" guys.....me too....I'm 68 and (being a Beatles generation) had given up on hearing quality music again....but everything that Josh and his friends produce has given me renewed hope that live music can be great again....and in so many genres.

I have listened to this a thousand times already (probably). I LOVE the harmonies in the chorus, I LOVE her (husky-like) voice, I LOVE the telecaster tone and the cool fills that Josh plays here and there. This is just perfect.
That sharp aggressive tele sound are a perfect contrast to the vocals. It adds some edge to the performance and helps it to stand out. 👍

I give up. I can't comprehend hoiw JTG can be so good over so many different genres and styles and always connect with the perfect people/musicians for each song over and over again? He has this effortless talent for channeling the artist he is covering. Doesn't he know that he's impossible??? His covers are more marks of reverance than covers!
