    Something I like about Audi's body styles on their vehicles is that they don't typically change too drastically between generations.

    Very pretty body style. Nice that you could get a stick. I had an manual '05(?) S4 with the 4.2. Solid, fun, fast, car. But it was eating oil with less than 30,000 miles so I let it go.

    I didn’t realize the 2.7t was based in the same architecture as the 2.8.

      I didn’t either!

      Yes it is! The v6 30v 2.8, same engine as the s4 b5....and rs4! But in the rs4 the turbos are bigger (k04) a poppular upgrade is change the k03 to this one's and power jump easy to 350 cv.....

    I have an '04 A6 2.7tt S-Line and, what really holds it back, is the weight of the AWD, and the cars weight is, I believe 4,500 (without driver)...
    If this car weighed 2,795 like my old mustang, would be much quicker!
    I never once saw another of these on the road, since I bought it..tells me that these were proned to engine and/or transmission failures..
    Great car to drive, though! Thanks for sharing

    The comparison is of course only fair at first glance... what's really at stake is the potential of the 2.7T (!) of course it's already as fast as the standard V8 simply because it has torque available incredibly early (! ) & then the V6 is simply throttled with 250/265 hp in the S4 as standard. As everyone knows, a simple software is enough to get a stable 310 HP / 500 Nm & even then the original K03 chargers are still at the end. If you still don't have enough power, there are other steps available, such as the well-known K04Step with the chargers from the RS4. So you can easily conjure up 400Ps or more....
    and that's exactly why I would always prefer the 2.7. In order not to be misunderstood, I drove an S6 c5 & A8 4.2 for many years - the eight-cylinder is a wonderful engine with fine running smoothness, sufficient power and sound. A nice cruiser or tow trailer. But compared to the performance that a V6 biturbo brings in conjunction with the possible low consumption at partial load, the V8 stinks in all respects.

    Why so many surprises when manual 2.7T is faster by factory time 0.1s in comparison with 4.2 V8???
    If they both have the same transmission then the 4.2 would be faster.

      Dude, are you serious or you are just late to school?? It´s called "Weight ratio" The V8 is a piece of crap, and the 2.7 is agile and torquie with the turbos. N/A engines scks.

      Even with the difference in transmission the A6 4.2 is faster, the trap speed at the quarter mile says it all. The V8 has the pull on the highway.

      In the vid, it explains that the 4.2 was only available in Automatic 5 speed tiptronic, not manual trans
      The 2.7tt was tested, and had the option of manual 6 spd, which the 4.2 it was only automatic

    I’m surprised the 4.2 is slower off the line than the 2.7t. Even though the 2.7t had the manual. The 4.2 with so much more horsepower and torque should have been faster. Even the BMW N55 F10 is much faster than the A6 4.2 V8, I guess time and technology really prove themselves and the 4.2 engine was really getting up in age, with its old 90’s technology. I would take the 2.7t anytime over the 4.2.

    • @PEEL2000
      @PEEL2000 ปีที่แล้ว

      Heavier engine
      Also, the 4.2 was only available in Automatic tiptronic 5 spd...
      the 2.7tt was tested on a manual 6 speed in the vid..(manual is quicker, unless you know really how to drive an automatic for 1/4 mile)

      the 5hp19(24) transmission is the absolutely trash. n55 paired usually to the 8hp transmissions-3 more gears, 3 times faster shifts, a way less loses.

    the 4.2 is 1/2 sec. slower than the 2.7 lol😂😂😂. major L

      Trap speed is higher so its faster so not really an L

      Yeah but that 4.2 won't catch fire or fail consistently like the 2.7TT does

    • @jasjinderdhesi3221
      @jasjinderdhesi3221 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Plus six speed manual narrow body vs automatic and widebody. I'm sure a 2.7TT auto is even slower.

      Ya something is wrong there, a 97’ A8 4.2 is a little bit faster than that even. Heavier too.

      one would say the 4.2 is more reliable for the average driver at stock power levels and that is true but the 2.7 is clearly the better engine. the alusil cylinder lining on the 4.2 is a problem as most shops wont touch it if you are looking for an overhaul. the 2.7 has a lot of aftermarket support. for me it would simply come down to if you enjoy NA or want some turbos. numbers arent everything.
