Great video. It's timely for me. I've stayed at Park MGM the last several trips but I will be staying at NYNY this September. I haven't stayed their since before the remodels. You guys captured the vibe of each place perfectly.

Thank you so much for watching! Park MGM and NYNY are still some of our favorites (and we have stayed at a lot of resorts this year!). Can’t go wrong with either one. You’ll have to let us know which one you think is better after your September NYNY stay!

Park MGM’s water pressure has always been “hit or miss”. I HATE “adjoining” room doors for a multitude of reasons, the biggest is that they conduct sound better than a wall. Although, I HATE the “Dirty Castle”, aka, Excalibur, the BEST deal in Las Vegas is “Buca Di Beppo” restaurant. Volume and quality for price can’t be beat.

Our next versus episode coming out soon 👀 and you’ll see our opinions on Excalibur, but we did pass by Buca di Beppo several times and it smelled amazing, so we may have to go back just for that!

Park MGM hands down for me.
I don't hate New York New York by any means, in that it does have redeemable qualities and things to like about it. For one it has plentiful attractions that are family-friendly including their arcade games, the Hershey store and the roller-coaster, it has one of the most striking, impressive exterior facades of ANY resort in Vegas, its rooms were pretty much just renovated (I consider their rooms BOTH a pro AND a con and will explain why momentarily, but it is cool to have a recently refreshed room), it has one of the best-looking casino floors on the Strip in my opinion, and the Village Street Eateries area aesthetically looks awesome.
That said, New York New York's rooms (while refreshed) are still quite utilitarian and unremarkable Super 8-style, their dining is mediocre-at-best and direly lack a higher-end, authentic New York restaurant experience on-site, they're lacking in lounges (Pour 424 is cute, but other than that it's sparse on that front), they have a below-average pool complex (although I will admit it's cool to see the roller coaster serpentine above you as you're sunbathing), and it gets extremely crowded in there in my experience (probably because of how family-friendly it is: ironic considering "Coyote Ugly" is also at NYNY, hahahaha!). So NYNY has charm.............but it's simply a tier or two beneath Park MGM in my eyes.
Park MGM, too, has notable flaws. Their rooms were also recently renovated being that the resort used to be the Monte Carlo.............but Park MGM's remodel is by far the ugliest-looking remodel I've seen in quite some time. I have mo idea what MGM was thinking with the diarrhea brown floors for one, and the theming is just so minimal. I shudder just thinking about them. Outside of the ugly-looking room remodel, in my opinion they're wildly inconsistent with conveying the European garden theme across the resort: where in some areas they nail it (Eataly, Primrose), and in other areas it seems completely off. Thirdly: while I think their pool complex looks good aesthetically, it is a notable step down from Monte Carlo's prior pool complex. And finally: Park MGM is definitely overpriced for what it is. I look at hotel rates every day and usually Park MGM's rates are not only pricier than most Caesars resorts, Luxor, Excalibur, Sahara, Circus Circus and Treasure Island as it should.............but they're even more expensive than Resorts World (Hilton, Conrad), almost as expensive as Red Rock in Summerlin, about equally as expensive as the Signature @ MGM Grand, and (here's the biggest shock)..............slightly more expensive than Vdara! Frickin' VDARA!!! And I'm sorry, but even though I like Park MGM overall................it's simply not more luxurious than Vdara, Red Rock, Resorts World or the Signature. Full stop. So in terms of value Park MGM is just simply lacking on that front compared to the majority of Strip resorts.
But overall I really enjoy Park MGM. I low-key think it has some of the best lounges on the Strip with Juniper, Mama Rabbit and NoMad Bar. It has some awesome restaurants with Best Friend, NoMad Library and Bavette's. It has one of the best casino floors in my opinion with great flow and feng shui and moxie. The Park right outside the resort is a quirky, cute gathering space. Although their pool complex is a step down from Monte Carlo's former pool complex, it still looks aesthetically pleasing and lush and just a nice place to get one's tan on. And of course, Eataly is just one of the coolest concepts on the Strip that I think is executed exceptionally well especially for a city as synthetic and artificial as Vegas. It could be better still, but I genuinely enjoy my time there each time I visit. 😊

Haha, aw man, I think we may have to agree to disagree on some of these points! 😆 I do think we both have some sentimental feels of the Park MGM because Monte Carlo was our first sister trip to Vegas. And to be perfectly honest, I don’t know that either of us can remember what it looked like as Monte Carlo anymore. The rooms are small and not fancy, but feel safe and clean and updated enough, so the vibes are good. We have always liked the “park” type theming, but it does seem like they are now trying to include another aesthetic, sort of a playful sexy type vibe, similar to Cosmopolitan?, so that’s a bit of a weird combination, and yet we don’t dislike either of them. I will say I don’t think we have specifically noticed diarrhea brown carpet 🤣, but can appreciate that is generally a bad choice.
We do love the pool though! Not that it’s super amazing or has a lot of features, but we like the chill vibes and relaxation. One thing I will say about the pool (which could have changed but I’m not sure) is that the cabana rental fee is just that - a rental fee. At most other resorts the “rental fee” is a food & beverage minimum, so you’re getting something for that money at least. The food and beverages at the pools are exorbitant so it’s not like you’re getting a ton of stuff or an amazing deal, but it’s still better than dropping a few hundred just for a rental fee. That said, we did have a really enjoyable time in our Park MGM cabana, and honestly found it nicer than our cabana at the Cosmopolitan.
Since we have stayed at Park MGM quite a few times, we routinely get comps and cheap prices there, so aside from one time that we had specific dates and didn’t book far enough in advance, we rarely pay much (if anything) for our room. We do see some high prices from time to time, but we know the pricing for rooms is dynamic and generally goes across several resorts (like I would ever be caught dead paying over $300 a night for Excalibur! 🤢), so if the pricing is offensive we find it’s usually that way for most resorts on those particular dates for whatever reason.

@@twosistersinvegas No worries at all! Life would be dull and flavorless if we didn't have dissenting perspectives here and there! I appreciate your conversations regardless! 😊
Admittedly, I have yet to rent a cabana or a daybed because, as someone who typically visits Vegas as a solo traveler, I see no incentive or value in renting one for myself. I'd need to be with at least a group of two others to justify going that route. But it's definitely on the bucket list! =)
I actually use myVEGAS vouchers every time I visit Vegas, and I've stayed at every MGM resort aside from Vdara thanks to them to date (Vdara for some reason doesn't offer two complimentary night vouchers, nor does The Signature At MGM Grand). I know the value isn't as staggering now on myVEGAS as it used to be, but it's still a pretty good value regardless, at least to me. =)
I personally would love to see you debate Bellagio vs. Aria next. THAT I think would be a VERY interesting debate: because in many respects they're diametrically opposed in the MGM ecosystem,. I have a current winner in my mind between the two, but am curious to hear both of your hot takes on those two resorts. =)

We definitely love the MyVegas games! The rewards did used to be more amazing, but really you can’t go wrong with anything free in Vegas so they are absolutely worth using anytime you can. Agreed that it is really difficult to find comps at Vdara when you’re not a big spender, but we keep checking and hoping!
Aria and Bellagio is a great match! We have a few other resorts coming up, but will absolutely add those two into the queue - thank you for the recommendation!

Just returned from NYNY- the food court prices are outrageous- even for Vegas- New York Pretzel being the main culprit. Great reviews btw sisters !

Thank you so much for watching! We used to get pretzels in the Mandalay Bay and Excalibur walkways. Much better price and they had the pretzel dog bites, perfect late night drinking snack. Sadly we don’t think either location is open anymore 👎🏻

We have heard nothing but good things about it, so we will absolutely have to stop in there next time! Also a plus - there’s a free appetizer reward in the MyVegas game! Can’t go wrong with free in Vegas.

I'm staying at park mgm next week for a girls' trip: few 40 year old somethings. Do you think I can try to ask for a fridge for medicine purposes and not get charged?? Does Eately have any happy hour specials with food? We will go to Off the Record as we heard it's great old school hip/R&B music and more mature crowd.

    • @twosistersinvegas

Park MGM is perfect for a girls trip! A little boujee casual, lots of good dining, relaxed atmosphere - you all will definitely have a blast!
You should absolutely ask about the fridge! Give a call to the front desk before you arrive (any 888 number goes to a general reservation line, not the hotel, but it looks like they may have direct phone numbers for specific resorts on the MGM contact page). Certainly worth a try to see if you can get the fridge at no charge, but if not, it’s a daily fee of $30 or something.
For happy hours, a lot of times they will switch it up but won’t post anything online, they will just have signs posted around Eataly. We never saw anything online about the wine happy hour, but just saw a sign about it next to the wine bottle section. So our recommendation would be to take a stroll around when you get there to see what they might have going on while you’re there!
Let us know how Off the Record is!
