It was the first ever time that this car had been out on patrol, and my dad’s superior told him that he better not even get a scratch on it. He pulled over this lady that was speeding in the direction going out of the base and discovered that she was in labor and rushing to the hospital off base. He decided to drive her because he could put on his lights and sirens. After about three minutes, he realized that they weren’t going to make it. The only medical training he had was paramedic training. When he got back his superior was furious at the mess, but once he heard the story, he patted my dad on the back and thanked him for helping that mother.

Hi Grace, you might be able to request your mum's medical records of your birth. In the UK you can request up to the 25th birthday of the child. In a case of shoulder dystocia it would be interesting wouldn't it? All the best, Ellie
I’m sitting here watching this while I feed my 2 week old son. I’ve always wanted to become a midwife and love watching videos like this, even more so since having my own 3 babies. It was interesting to me seeing the visual on what 4cm looks like. I went from 4cm to delivering baby AND placenta in a total of 15 minutes. It’s incredible what the body can do!
YES! My 2 favorite channels! Though when I saw the thumbnail I was really hoping you would go through their Labor Video where Ned recreates Ariel's entire labor process. Please do more of their parenthood and pregnancy series!
Omg MDJ and Try Guys need to collab ASAP!! Also shoulder dystocia was an issue when I was delivering my son. It was definitely the scariest moment of my life.
My husband got to help deliver all of our babies! My ob/gyn is really big on letting dad get as involved as he wants to with delivery and my husband really enjoyed catching all of our kids. I think if your doctor allows it all dads should do it! It's an incredible experience for everyone.
Man the Sunnyside up part got me. My daughter was stuck in my pelvis. Now she has a brachial plexus injury but at least I have my baby. Almost three ^-^
Same here, my daughter was facing up when I delivered her and she got stuck in the birth canal. She turned around literally at the last minute considering the team had called up to prep me for a c-section and she came out five minutes later. Ouch about the injury though.
My husband caught all three of our daughters. The OBs assisted and advised and were ready to take over as needed. The impact of that involvement in the birth experience is beyond what words can describe.
I’ve had twins vaginally and I even had a mirror but now that I’m pregnant again I was definitely watching this in fear lol. Like how did my body do that?!?
I absolutely ADORE watching you. Especially when there's an actual (or fictitious baby) involved. You're face just lights up and you get the most beautiful smile. I feel so happy for the people you treat, because you truly love all things baby. And you advocate for those that are under represented, or just plain ignored. Thanks for being so wonderful!
My oldest was born and he was a shoulder dystocia delivery. My OB caught it and had it resolved in less than 45 seconds! He was absolutely amazing in the situation for keeping me calm and handling the emergency!!
If I had my way I’d have MDJ watch all the Try Guys baby videos including the ones with Eugene babysitting. Eugene being able to do anything in 6” platforms yet being terrified of an infant is one of the best things ever.
I’m just a random guy watching an OBGYN describe how she delivers babies! Lol I love your videos mama, they are very informative and ya never know when you’ll need info like this! Lol keep up the great videos! 😊
MDJ Thank you for talking about brachial plexus injuries! I was am an Erb's Palsy baby due to negligence from the OB and I unfortunately never recovered. My nerves were not avulsed from the spinal cord but I had full tears. I was only 7lbs 1oz. I had my sural nerves in each leg used to repair the nerves in my neck/shoulder at 9 months. I have suffered immensely from this injury and am disabled for life so thank you for bringing awareness to this injury. Love your channel so, so much! EDIT: The collar bone was also broken but healed. I was completely paralyzed in my left arm before my surgery. I now have a much better range of motion but my shoulder joint grew deformed, my scapula is smaller on that side, my humerus is shorter on that side by a few inches, and I have nearly constant, chronic back pain.
My baby didn’t cry when she was born and I started panicking and the doctors went quiet and then put her right on my chest - she was fine, she was just totally awake and watching everything. She was breathing great, she just didn’t feel the need to cry I guess. I don’t know how common that is but it felt really magical
MDJ: Most babies are sunny side up in the early stages of labor and then begin to flip. Me: Flashback to my labor with my son where he did the exact opposite.
FIrst of all, I love your videos. You are great and you crack me up. Also, the fact that the bottle you're using as an example of a cervis says "I did my best" when you're talking about baby's normally coming out face down... made my day. XD
This made me laugh until I stopped crying until I cried because I was laughing. Granted I've not slept in almost 24 hours and am in slightly too much pain to think properly, but that is actually funny.
My sister went through shoulder dystocia with my niece and may I say in a hospital the doctors panicked as well and didn’t know what to do. She was stuck like that for quite some time and though she was a 9lb10oz baby it was scary to hear what could have been the outcome. My nephew was delivered a year later via c section because of this. So interesting to hear more about it. Thanks MDJ!
Cool story: when my youngest was born, after the midwife delivered her shoulders and made sure everything was good (she was "sunnyside up" btw) she leaned back and told me to get her 😳 . At first I was a little surprised, then thrilled to reach down, pick her up under her arms and pull her the rest of the way out and up to my chest 🤯🤯🤯. Also, so happy to see the baby carrot again 🤗🤗🤗!!!
I was actually a baby born with shoulder dystocia. My radial nerves were all torn and I live in constant pain everyday with minor atrophy in my shoulder. I'm so glad to hear somebody talk about this and was so worried about the same thing happening with my own baby and him living with the same pain I have. Thankfully he had no issues.
I gave myself a cervical exam when I went into labor last week. I got to the hospital and doctor confirmed I was 3cm! Thank you MDJ for helping have an anxiety free delivery!
My 3rd baby had shoulder dystopia, She came out sunny side up and broke my tailbone as she was born.luckily she had no nerve damage and is a healthy and active 16 year old young woman now.
I have to say that I used to be terrified of having a baby. I knew really nothing of the process besides what you can "learn" from movies/tv. I avoided shows like "I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant" at all costs. I never talked to my mom about it and purposefully avoided anything that went into too much detail. My health classes in school also never covered it. But I stumbled upon your channel and there is something so calming about the way that you describe things like birth, contraception, sexual health, etc. I have learned so much and continue watching these videos to learn more and more. Thank you for making women's health less scary to me!
Oo, I remember the head being hard to push out, then the shoulders being difficult (my daughter ended up with a broken collarbone lol) I was so happy when it was over... only to find out I had to push the placenta out. I cried lol
I hear all these stories it makes not want to have anymore babies because my daughter was so easy lol. After her head came out everything else just slid right out. I didn't even have to do another push for the placenta.
@@samanthasanchezhernandez4574 I'm just really petite. When I was pregnant with my 2nd, I went to a different hospital and told them about everything that happened and they suggested since my pelvis is small, it's probably best to do csection -which i ended needing in the end due to not reach 10cm dilation.
I love and appreciate the fact that this whole video was done with an iguana plush toy. It's just perfect for MDJ lol. We love all the weird here - it's cute!
Thank you so much for talking about sunny side up babies and the shoulder displaysia. It really explained a lot of what happened in my labor experience. The doctors didn't really explain to me what was happening.
Great video as always, MDJ. I'm a neo NP and NRP instructor- pet peeve of mine is how people "make the baby cry"- many healthy babies don't need this and do just fine in transition without it- worse is when people continuously flick the baby's heels to make them cry "longer" and I'm always telling folks that the baby is just fine and doesn't need it. It can be stressful for the baby to come out to extrauterine life and I think less is more.

In a severe shoulder dystocia the care provider will break the clavicle with their fingers.
Hi Grace, you might be able to request your mum's medical records of your birth. In the UK you can request up to the 25th birthday of the child. In a case of shoulder dystocia it would be interesting wouldn't it? All the best, Ellie
@@bellmendoza6687 Thank you !! x
"that little model that they have there..."
Me: Eugene?
"the pelvic model"
Oh, right.
It really is!!! I'd love being a midwife too but I don't think I could :)
YES! My 2 favorite channels! Though when I saw the thumbnail I was really hoping you would go through their Labor Video where Ned recreates Ariel's entire labor process. Please do more of their parenthood and pregnancy series!
yeah, too bad i think the guys did all they could on the subject so a collab is unlikely
THE CARROT HAS RETURNED!!!!!
Omg MDJ and Try Guys need to collab ASAP!! Also shoulder dystocia was an issue when I was delivering my son. It was definitely the scariest moment of my life.
Honestly though, Mama Doctor Jones is one of the more underrated channels on TH-cam right now
I love the TryGuys, and I fully support your endeavour to become their go-to ObGyn, that would be amazing!
Mr. Carrot is really living his best life over there 😂
My husband got to help deliver all of our babies!
Almost three ^-^
I’m so sorry :( Sounds like she has a great mama to take care of her tho. ♥️
Same here, my daughter was facing up when I delivered her and she got stuck in the birth canal. She turned around literally at the last minute considering the team had called up to prep me for a c-section and she came out five minutes later. Ouch about the injury though.
@@MamaDoctorJones thank you ^-^ she let's nothing stop her
My husband caught both our babies! My husband was so thrilled! Some doctors will let your significant other catch them. It was really awesome for us.
It's fascinating though right?! I'm amazed at what our bodies can do!!
The saying on the water bottle while using an iguana to represent a baby 😂
I did my best
Love how the water bottle she's using as a cervix says "I did my best" haha!!!
7:07 it made a pop went she bent the head over like she had snapper it’s neck 😂😂😂
Is it weird that the iguana baby looks just like mine when he was born! Haha! MDJ your the best!
🤣🤣
I absolutely ADORE watching you. Especially when there's an actual (or fictitious baby) involved. You're face just lights up and you get the most beautiful smile. I feel so happy for the people you treat, because you truly love all things baby. And you advocate for those that are under represented, or just plain ignored. Thanks for being so wonderful!
Back when there were 4 Try Guys
My oldest was born and he was a shoulder dystocia delivery. My OB caught it and had it resolved in less than 45 seconds! He was absolutely amazing in the situation for keeping me calm and handling the emergency!!
Turning 15 this year, I’ll call you in like 10+ years when I’m in labor. I want you to deliver my babies 😂❤️
I hope so much Mama Dr. Jones reacts to the Try Guys Motherhood series and Ned recreating his wife's labor!
"You're like a human printer"
Okay, I'm DEAD! XD
That was an awesome explanation about effacing and how cervical examinations occur, I’ve always wondered! Thanks Mama Dr J!
Yes! Incoming collab! 😍✨
This got recommended to me really late, but perfect timing for Ned's second baby announcement!
would love to see you react to the rest of their motherhood series/ ned and ariel's birth video!
Yup... My daughter did eventually go the right way with very uncomfortable "encouragement". But, yeah.
FIrst of all, I love your videos. You are great and you crack me up.
Also, the fact that the bottle you're using as an example of a cervis says "I did my best" when you're talking about baby's normally coming out face down... made my day. XD
Three cheers for the return of tiny carrot:
Vit-vit
A-A!
I'll show myself out....
This made me laugh until I stopped crying until I cried because I was laughing. Granted I've not slept in almost 24 hours and am in slightly too much pain to think properly, but that is actually funny.
😂😂😂😂😂
My sister went through shoulder dystocia with my niece and may I say in a hospital the doctors panicked as well and didn’t know what to do. She was stuck like that for quite some time and though she was a 9lb10oz baby it was scary to hear what could have been the outcome. My nephew was delivered a year later via c section because of this. So interesting to hear more about it. Thanks MDJ!
Lol! The water bottle states “I did my best” at that point of labor I am pretty sure I was yelling that!
Love the iguana/dinosaur stand-in for the newborn. Made me think- I'll bet dino-moms were glad they laid eggs.
You should react to Seth Meyers comedy special where talks about his wife's deliveries
I gave myself a cervical exam when I went into labor last week. I got to the hospital and doctor confirmed I was 3cm! Thank you MDJ for helping have an anxiety free delivery!
Can you react to kourtney kardashians first labor? When she pulls the baby out herself 😂
My 3rd baby had shoulder dystopia, She came out sunny side up and broke my tailbone as she was born.luckily she had no nerve damage and is a healthy and active 16 year old young woman now.
"I'M COMING FOR YOUR JOB!" that's epic
I just finished a project on brachial plexus injuries. Love it when my school work lines up with my favorite TH-cam channel!!
Now you gotta watch the one where they simulate Ariel’s (Ned’s wife) labor pains!
That was the best video on how babies are born!! Loved the Iguana 🦎 can’t wait to show my kids!!
In case Ned is in the Middle of the woods when
Excuse me? Dont go Camping at 38 weeks
Dont go camping while pregnant in general
I have to say that I used to be terrified of having a baby. I knew really nothing of the process besides what you can "learn" from movies/tv. I avoided shows like "I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant" at all costs. I never talked to my mom about it and purposefully avoided anything that went into too much detail. My health classes in school also never covered it. But I stumbled upon your channel and there is something so calming about the way that you describe things like birth, contraception, sexual health, etc. I have learned so much and continue watching these videos to learn more and more. Thank you for making women's health less scary to me!
You have quickly become one of my very favorite TH-camrs. I get so excited every time I see a new notification!
This means a lot to me, thank you!
I just love your videos and look forward to learning new things each week! Thank you for all you do!!
The guy who smacked the baby in the face, I expected him to lasso the placenta 😂😂😂😂😂
Love this!! Iggy the iguana 😂
We love all the weird here - it's cute!
someone should make an iggy "i did my best" sticker now haha
Can I just say I love your intro scene/music when ur name pops up? It’s catchy and visually pleasing and I just love it 😊
I want “There is no shame in my NOTICE ME game” on a shirt
Omg! Your reaction to this was priceless! It was fun learning how you really delivery a baby too. Thanks for the vid 😀😂
I bet half the time Eugene is just thinking "Thank god im not into women" xD
Thank you so much for talking about sunny side up babies and the shoulder displaysia. It really explained a lot of what happened in my labor experience. The doctors didn't really explain to me what was happening.
“Someday I’ll stop being a hot mess”
I’m a MS1 and definitely a hot mess hoping it would get better haha
No hope 🤣
Lol definitely doesn't get better at least not for me either!
I’m going on 23 weeks pregnant. I so wish you could deliver my baby. Those who have you as their doctor are super lucky 💜
You are funny mama doctor jones! I don’t call you my favorite “you tuber” for nothing!!!
Ohhh, Ned, you ruined this whole video
