I've always said Saints Row 4 is a good game, just not a good Saints Row game.
Same. As a standalone game, it's great fun. As a Saints Row game, it never aimed at the target.

If the saints row reboot gameplay wasn't buther and wasn't clunky. I say it would've made it a okayish game..the story still sucks but at least the gameplay would've made it tolerable.

if i remember correctly it was because the guy would not put on the glasses and dint believe him so they fought and he put the glasses on. its been a very long time since i saw the movie.
Supposedly Piper and David really got truly physical in that scene to give it realism.
Great movie
Honestly this game grew on me a lot - a fun simple journey into the universe I've liked. A big fan service DLC turned into a game. Better than SR3.
My theory on the Johnny Gat "Death"
After being abducted I do like to believe that Zinyak did manage to make a double to pass off as the real gat and dead on the floor.
While Loren was laid out by Gat, he most likely believed that one of his Morningstar members manage to kill him.
Reason I believe Zinyak can make a gat double cause let's be real, this alien can teleport in an instant back and forth,and all his technologically advance stuff, millions of years further from present day, so most likely he had a lifeless Gat copy laying around for this.
And the zombie Gat, well that's more like an unlockable and a joke on how we love calling in dead homies like Lin and Carlos from Saints Row 1 and 2.
As for the Clones DLC:
As far as I remember, we met with a Johnny Gat fan who somehow got like some hair from Johnny to bring another version of Johnny alive.
So if some nerd in a mothers basement can create a clone of Gat, it should not be hard for the Alien Civilization to also be able to create a dead looking body.

might be reaching but my theory is that Gat did actually die but Zinyak travelled back in time to abduct him (maybe interested in cloning his body since at the start of the game he says he wants to capture the best humans), and if that's true maybe saints row 4 is set in a different timeline
Editing Johnny into the bosses place feels like a systemic issue.
Every single character who talks about Jonny acts like he's The Boss.
He's the scary crazy one, he's the action hero cool man. He's the one who did all the stuff.

The fact that Zinyac shows up in the credits cutscene, much smaller, means that SR4 was just a mini series/movies.
That cutscene with Johnny picking up Shaundi was a placeholder in one of the older versions of SR2 I believe
A little rant here because I get very emotional regarding this topic.
There's one thing that, hilariously enough, bothers me really much despite tons of other bullshit. It would make much more sense for Johnny's "arcade" to have Big Tony as a boss of the Vice Kings section. He's a huge dude who kicked Johnny's ass and then tortured him in the first game (back when Johnny was badass but clearly had his limits instead of being an exaggerated cartoon character "badass") I don't even remember if Johnny ever interacted with Warren Williams at all whereas Tony would be someone who I believe could be a part of Johnny's nightmarish simulation.
Meanwhile it would make more sense for Warren Williams to appear in Benjamin King's simulation because he and Tanya were the ones to stage that coup, whereas Tony died a loyal bodyguard to King far as we know and yet King acts like he was some traitor in reality as well ("like Anthony ever listened". Bull-fucking-shit, that's all Anthony ever did in the original game. It was Warren who couldn't shut the fuck up). King brushed off his death in SR1, "it's just business, let it go" but at no point saw him as a traitor.
The game has literal superpowers and aliens, the reboot is a trashfire and this is what makes me actively angry instead of being exasperated. Feels like I'm going crazy.
Or hell, since the Arcade games about saving Aisha, make the boss the dude who killed her

It does make sense. After the boss defuses the bomb, they become president of the United States, then Aliens invade, the boss then fights the aliens but gets put in a matrix pod, the boss then does boss things and gets put in the nebuchadnezzar matrix ship to stop the aliens and after more boss things, the boss kills the alien boss.

I just really wish they called this game something else as a separate series from Saints Row while still giving us a continuation of the “OG” Saints Row series. Would’ve been printing money, especially with the eventual rise in popularity of super heroes

Bringing King back was a weird idea. Like SR1 was an Xbox exclusive, so most players would be confused af about his inclusion. I know I was. But he's still a cool character.
I know Saints Row 4 is bad but I can't help but love it because of how overtop it is and because it's fun to play. 🤷🏻♂️

I believe they brought gat back because they got so much backlash from killing him off in the previous game.
I know it's nitpick, but the line around 9:45 isn't a retcon introduced in SR4. The Boss said the same thing when they confronted Julius at the end of the secret mission.
But it _is_ a retcon, considering:
1. The Playa/Boss was never timid or afraid in SR1.
2. The Playa/Boss _does_ talk, just rarely. And their four speaking lines are all sarcastic quips.
3. You couldn't play as a female boss in SR1 and Laura Bailey's Boss says the line about being scared in SR4.

First i want to say, great retrospective of the whole series, very enjoyable reviews and having played 3 of the 4 games i can agree with basically everything. Secondly, just some storybit that annoyed me from back when i played 4, the Saints now have a time travel device and save the planet, so why not next save Aisha, save Carlos, save Lin. Thats the problem when you introduce a reality changing macguffin, all of those deaths mean nothing anymore.
I stopped after Saints Row The Third. Killing Gat was the line crossed.
Ahh yes, Saints Row 4. A game that i own. A game that looks like it might be some mindless fun despite it being a poor Saints Row sequel. A game that i only played about 20% of before having to throw in the towel and give up, considdering my 60 bucks wasted.
If you think Volition just started sucking with the failure of the hipster reboot, then gather round, it is story time:
I bought the game with fairly low expectations, after SR3 i certainly did not expect the game to live up to SR2, but jumping around doing superhero stuff looked pretty fun, you still get to customize your Boss which i do like, so i figgured it would be worth a buy.
And you know, for the first few houers it was. It may not feel like a Saints game, but it actually was fun to leap around in the open world and cause mayhem. So you could say it did live up to my expectations of it.
And then it crashed. Well that's a bummer, i lost some progression, but you get back on the horse and... it crashed again...
Yeah this game was absolutely cursed for some of us, and at first, nobody knew what was going on. Some people had no problems at all, others like myself were reporting that, the longer you played, the more, and the faster the game would start crashing. Eventually it got so bad that the game would crash 10 seconds after loading a save. It was literally unplayable.
Needless to say we started reporting these issues, and nothing happened. We got louder and reported it more, and tried to investigate the issue ourselves and see if we could find some common cause, and nothing happened. Eventually we got numerous and loud enough that Volition had to weigh in, just stating that they coulden't reproduce the issue.
For months this went on, untill someone, and i belive it was someone from the player base, actually found the problem. Even though SR4 is almost a copy-paste of SR3's engine and map, some Dilbert at Volition deleted some very important engine code that adds support for composit USB devices. So in a nutshell, if you had any sort of composit USB device connected to your system (anything from Keyboards with programmable functions, mice with added functions, USB-Hubs of any kind, flight sticks, fighter sticks, steering wheels, retro gamepad adapters, and any software that allows you to program any sort of advanced USB device, you know, hardware that a gamer might own), the game would simply not work.
But ok, finally we found the problem, so of course Volition patched the game, right? I mean they were still actively supporting the game at this time, they were only half-way through making those crappy costume DLC's, they haden't released the "Enter the Dominatrix" expansion yet, the game was still being worked on, and all they needed to do to fix this was restore the code that was working fine in SR3, so obviously they fixed the issue, yeah?
Volitions idea of fixing the issue, was to make a post on the Steam forums explaining the problem, and asking people to please remove and delete any offending hardware and software that would cause the crashing issues.
The "fix" was: Please go buy some crappier hardware than what you've already got, uninstall vital software that you need to play other games in your library, because we can't be bothered to clean up the mess that we made. Now please go buy our DLC.
Needless to say, this is where i walked away angry.
Fun fact, Zinyak's voice actor is also the mexican doctor in Better call Saul

Saints Row 4 was meant to & should been left to be a DLC for The Third.....not to be a full game. The superhero thing wore thin like your plus size girlfriend rocking,' holes in her lace thongs..... although it was a fun game but again it shouldn't gotten the green light to be a full game.......

Shadow dies at the end of Sonic Adventure 2, the game you actually used footage for in the video.
In the very next game, Sonic Heroes, it is revealed that he didnt die after all and after THAT he got his own spinoff.
I think it funny shadow got his own spinoff because a fan sent a sega a letter about sonic using guns. But the director thought that be impossible since sonic never uses guns, but thought shadow would.
It was technically a Shadow clone, though, not that it makes things any more logical.

You know what I like doing best? Going to Sierra Point, spawning some non-super homies, and letting them go ham on the SNP. Wish there were some non-replacement mods for the cut/unused NPCs like Lin and Sharpe tho

Saints row 2 and 4 are the best in the series but for different reasons. 2 had the vibe and story. 4 had the game play and as bleh as it was the story made sense ramping off from 3.

I gotta say this may not have been the bast saints row game but i think it does a lot right even though it is bad shit crazy i love it. one of the little details i like is how some of the characters have little dialog with specific characters like Jonny and Julius. it had a lot of heart this game was the last good saints row even if it wasn't the best and then we got saints of college debt

Honestly the only part that never made sense with Zinyak abducting Johnny is his reason. Like what does he mean Johnny could Defeat him? The Boss is the one that should be the biggest threat to Zinyak not Johnny lol Gats Death was trash anyways in SR3 and I kept expecting him to show up near the end of the game or something. The whole Funeral scene in SR3 literally makes no sense if you replay it. This game makes more sense then SR3 did.

SR4 was really fun to play (not counting the QTEs) but the story was utter bs, even if it had some funny moments. And then the Reboot made it look like a work of art in comparison.
RIP Volition, but they truly deserved imploding for what they did to the franchise. (PS > At least they became a good get woke go broke example in the end.)

Played this game off acid, when I was driving in the beginning of the game it didn’t feel like I was controlling it had me tweaking for a bit. Also do not recommend playing while at the peak of the trip characters talk too much and it was getting irritating lmao still really enjoy this game.

I do not get the hate for Saints Row IV. Yeah, it should have never been a "Saints Row" game and Volition would've been smarter just making it its own IP, since it's actually one of the best superhero games ever made (especially a superhero game that isn't about Spider-Man or Batman.) But damn if the gameplay wasn't fun! I guess it also helps that I don't see it as canon, but just as another in-universe movie, with Zinyak being an actor and all, especially with the actual DLC playing off that.
The only issue I have with Saints Row IV is that it's "Saints Row" and even that is minor to me, cause Saints Row the Third is when the series lost its soul; hell the canon ending of the game has the Saints sell-out and become movie stars, making what Gat said in jail 100% accurate. The "execute Killbane" ending should've been the canon ending to SR3, but I guess they just love "PMS Shaundi" too much over "Fun Shaundi."
Also, the smart option is Cure Cancer. We know what causes world hunger and how to stop it, but people just choose not to (Nestlé/Monsanto.)
