Hey Dom. I hope you still remember me. You gave me an Iphone 6 plus gold before wayback 2015. I was a teenager then, freshman in college. I was very grateful that time and very happy cause it's my first time owning an iphone and it was very useful during my college days. I have a work now and I currently using an iphone 14 pro. Thank you, Dom. I will never forget about you. ❤️
Why is in so many tests so much talk about shadow brightening and highlights? This takes away any dynamism from the image and it just looks flat. A camera is not automatically better if shadows are brightened. Brightening is no problem from a software perspective, the problem is finding the right mix so that the photo does not look artificial and lifeless. Once you have created HDR photos with Photoshop, you know that the dosage makes a good photo.
I have done a lot of testing, and crushing the shadows on an iPhone in photos is not a problem, as, with a 20-second edit, you can see the detail is still there.
Thank you for noticing this. Those "reviewers" going absolutely crazy, they think "brighther shadows = more details". Shadows are parts of nature and we need them for the natural shots!
Yes but the pixel keeps the photo contrasty while retaining detail in the highlights and shadows. Not everyone has the time to give 20 seconds to each photo to adjust the highlights, shadows. Also if you'd like more contrast, you get a highlight slider right in the camera viewfinder.
@@abdullahbinshahid3199 Why in the world you need to rise the shadows? Are you afraid of monsters being there? I mean seriously.... Let the shadows be shadows. This is nature!
after using the pixel 9 pro for almost a month at this point, I notice that the camera has very aggressive white balancing, which I personally really like--you will be able to see a lot of details (in dark or bright spots) in your photos compared to some of the other flagship cameras. But perhaps it's not for everyone, since the aggressive white balancing alters the color a lil' bit and makes the photo's color not as accurate to life as maybe the iphone or samsung cameras.
Photo wise, it's almost the same with iPhone a little better a few and Pixel Pro a little better in a few, but I have seen many reviews and some things come down user, and also phones themselves vary from phone to phone depending on build location or parts. One thing I found watching tons of reviews the iPhone wins in video hands down, even when zooming, I mean motion blur is better, stabilization is better, pro features, shooting in ProRes is great. And indoor shots overall are a little better. Other than that all these phones are really similar, down to preference since we each have different likes and also different vision, we see things differently. I would only say if you want the best video iPhone wins against Pixel or S24, and thats after looking at lots of reviews.
Apple used to be way behind Google with photos, and from a subjective perspective, I now prefer the iPhone's processing. A more contrasty iPhone looks more interesting than a flat highlighted Pixel. But that is a personal preference. I may have been missing something for video, but I thought the iPhone was more stable with less flickering of the Pixel and a comfortable win. I suppose brand loyalty will influence the choice. I have both last-gen iPhones and Pixels, and the Pixel is a nightmare for colour science when taking photos of cars. I use both and end up using the iPhone picture, as the Pixel is not as accurate. However, its over-saturation may not matter for social media posts.
But it’s not dynamic range. It’s lifted shadows and pulled highlights. I really hate this trend in mobile photo processing algorithm. Glad Apple dials it down a little bit this year.
LOL 😂 2:41 „clear winner“ colours are mostly wrong on Pixel. iPhone beats it in every categorie „more detail“ 4:01 I think you missed that iPhone is on the left
Everyone thinks the iPhone is better because of the aesthetic feel and how clean the iPhone is but overall the pixel is way better because you do on it like a standard PC. You can use the pixel almost like a pc. With iPhone you can't really do much about it. Yes both are expensive but you get more out of a pixel.
Every year people do these camera comparisons. Really it doesn't matter much since modern smartphones look great and every year they improve little by little. People are going to get the phone that they've been using for years and years as that's the 'eco-system' they've been in and it's the OS that they're use to. Every smartphone iteration each year has its pros & cons. Another thing is that with TH-cam's compression you can't really accurately tell how the media really is; especially not with video.
True, for most of us average users doing daylight camera work the lenses are no longer a reason to buy. For semi-pro and pro users, the iPhone is way ahead of the Pixel in video, and I would have thought if you were an Instagram pro, then you would always carry an iPhone for that.
Peronally I like shadows! They remind me of the photographic art of the past that seems to be getting lost in the smartphone era. Also I like colors that are true to life even if they are more muted. This is where the iPhone wins in my opinion ( at least against the pixel). A normal point and shoot will win against the iPhone because I won’t get over sharpened watercolor looking images with no shadows. … And yes the iPhone over sharpens ( I own an iPhone). Not in every image but enough to make it both annoying and noticeable..
I like contrasty photos for my own pleasure, though I understand that for those posting on social media, punchy, sharpened, over-highlighted results may be more impactful.
The iPhone 16 is very good, even in videos. But personally I'll stick with the pixel 9 pro, it's simply incredible, especially that front camera. Whenever I'm with friends and we take a selfie photo, they are impressed by the quality of the pixel front camera.
@@andyH_Englandsometimes. But then if it’s overdone then you can’t bring the highlights back to overexposed later if you want because it already baked the processing into a flat image
Photos on the iPhone, especially with the front-facing camera, can look dull and almost washed out. The photos on the Pixel just look warmer, with better highlights. Video is closer than I thought it would be, but the iPhone still reigns supreme there, especially if you want 4k 120fps
From an actual photography perspective, these "details in the shadows" don't necessarily depict the actual scene. Having those details lifted can of course show more details but is that what the eye actually saw? I don't mind the shadows being a little darker because thats the more realistic. So even if I take pictures on my pixel I'll sometimes bring the shadows down a bit again because it's not actually "real" 🤔
currently, we are at a point that cameras on flag phones differ based on the user taste, there is no ACTUAL huge difference between them, they all look fine, someone would prefer one over the other, but would be totally fine with either. till we have a breakthru on camera's I am out!

Think I’ll still choose iPhone this go around but the Pixel is for sure super close to it now.
