PNW is the most violent scary area's Ive ever lived. Broken car windows, people with weapons EVERYWHERE bats, knives, batons, guns, machetes.. Never ever ever again. But yeah enjoy you new home!

My friend moved to Portland from Houston. She was born in Houston but fell in love with Oregon while on vacation. She enjoys the weather & natural beauty of Portland/Oregon especially compared to Texas.

I agree for people that are middle class and have kids. i think if you still want great culture, art, diversity, and quality of life, and you want ocean and west coast vibe like me then portland and surrounding suburbs could be amazing for you!
If you are overly conservative from a southern state like Texas and do not have any desire to explore the west coast you might not find like minded people in portland. Ask yourself are you confortable going into a gay coffee shop or maybe seeing some homeless people on the streets or a transgender? If any of these encounters discomfort you then perhaps you might not like portland!
Thats fine there are probably other areas of Oregon that are more conservative that you might want to check out…. If you still want to explore more.

My fiancé and I live in Orlando. Her sister is in Portland and after visiting, we really wanna ditch the sunshine state. Such a great city ❤

Honestly nearly all of the hate comments are from people that heard tall tales and rumors then amplified them in their own minds

I moved to Portland 40 years ago. I can't think of any other city I would rather live in. The upcoming structural change in city government is a hopeful change. Portland is a positive place. If you hate it, well, "love it or leave it."
