    Had a harbor lawn mower jack , it would only lift mower until weight hit jack. Bled jack four times still same . Did exactly what your you tube video showed. Used Wd40 to flush and jack now works great with ATF. THANK YOU MUCH

    So glad I came across your video, I bought a new 20 ton jack a few months ago because I couldn't figure out where my other one was leaking from, well it has sat there gathering dust because I had lost the info of how to set up the new one, and as it is coming up to my busiest time making jewellery I was getting very despondent, now at least I know how to fill up and release air in the new one, pretty sure the connecting will be a doddle haha. Thanks again.

    Excellent , no nonsense video as well , great job there too.

    Would paint thinner work as an alternative for future reference ?

      I just bought one of this China made abundant on the market and the instructions ask for
      just SAE30 oil. After that i did replace the oil using jack oil and installing a brass plug on
      the oil port because the factory rubber plug on this cheap jacks harden and eventually leak.

    Is it ok if I fill my trolley jack with it stood upright like your video instead of it horizontal? Thanks

    • @Carlostype
      @Carlostype 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll answer my own question.
      My SGS jack's instructions say to fill, turn J vertical with handle down and fill to plug level (as u would a bottle J). This emptied some oil then the J wouldn't raise very high so I put it horizontal to check and the piston had no oil covering the top. I filled just above the Post and all's well again.
      So NO, fill to top of piston on you floor/trolley jack in the horizontal position! In my case anyway.

    In another post they said not to ever lay a bottle jack on its side. I store mine in it’s case like this in my trunk and it’s definitely on it’s side. Is that a bad thing for it?? Also it’s only been used once or twice..should I change the oil in this case?? Is it necessary?(because of non use) Thank you in advance!

    • @Ntwadumela1
      @Ntwadumela1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can lay it on its side or even upside down, but it won't work in an upside down position. It may work in a horizontal position but you won't be able to extend the ram fully and it really depends on which side you gonna lay it. You don't have to change the oil for decades if you don't use your jack regularly, but I'd use it once a year or so (without load) to put an oil film on the walls of the cylinder and the pump to prevent it from rusting.

    Think twice before you follow this video instruction! I followed this video and ruined my 3 ton bottle jack. It was almost new but the oil was half drained accidentally. I followed this instruction and used paint thinner to rinse the old residue. However, I immediately noticed that the lever started sticking as though the inner seals were dissolved by the thinner (or the solvent). If you read the comment section, the publisher recommends to use kerosene or any type of solvent for flushing. But beware as some of these chemicals may destroy your jack seals to an unrepairable ending as what happened to me. It also destroyed the paint of my jack not to mention the least.
    I would advise you to choose another instruction and make a wise decision in what to use to flush your jack! I followed the instruction till the end and even released the air in the jack. But my jack won’t hold up the weight and won’t jack up as fast as it used to. In other words, it is useless piece of metal now. 😥 😩 😡
