  • The nation's military marked a huge step forward this past week ... a step that, national security correspondent David Martin tells us, underscores just how difficult advancement for black officers has been, as Air Force General Charles Q. Brown and Sergeant Major of the Army Michael Grinston open up about discrimination in a way military leaders never have before.

Blacks are the oldest group on the planet. Our origins story was discovered around the turn of the 1960s or at least comprehended in its part on the reasons why we were created. We share an image from those beyond this planet. It is "them" that they hate, but that hate has transferred over to blacks on this planet.

This is not just in the military, it has occurred in the last 5 employers I have worked at over the past 20 years. I have always been the only black in my group. I have an MSCS degree and have worked with people who on a weekly basis try make me appear incompetent. They withhold information from me and at the same time prop up white and offshore new hires by ensuring they they receive meeting information ahead of time, before the meeting actually starts.
Twice I had someone put a picture of a monkey in a suit on a bulletin board, twice someone used the n-work in my presence (and nothing came of it). For anyone in a similar situation, my experience proves HR is a waste of time. They are not there to help you, they are in place to protect the company's name, They will listen to you and collect the information you have, and then feed it to your supervisor and possibly the person you logged the complaint about. If the oppression continues and you continue to complain about it, HR will work with the your supervisor to draft that plan that leads to your termination.
By that time you should be applying for jobs outside that company, with the sad part being it only begins again at the next company because you will find good and bad in every group. And in the work place the 'good' people look the other way. My grandmother past away about 20 years ago, and she you to talk about the treatment she received. My mother was diagnosed with PTSD because of the treatment she received. I hope Biden does good for all good people, even people who look like me.

The last two years of my career, my Cmdr and my Superintendents racially discriminated against me so severely that I needed up with lung cancer. The Air Force did NOTHING to help me or my family, but they damn sure covered the three people that did this to me.
The Air Force is a haven for racial discrimination and our leaders, do NOTHING and DID NOTHING to help people like myself.

      @zenodotusofathens2122 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@dabama1 We say things about race for many reasons. You ask why would General Brown do so if not true?
General Brown may have ascended to the highest Air Force post due to his own merit. True enough. But because of the emphasis of what used to be called "affirmative action" (now called diversity) he may have reached the pinnacle of success (the absolute highest level) based on some measure of his race...perhaps that was a significant consideration.
People like you are illogical. You maintain two contradictory thoughts in your mind at the same time.
First you must surely realize that "diversity" means favoring race in hiring, promotion and college admissions. Yet if one points out that inconvenient and obvious, fact one is met with hostility and accusations of being a racist. This is illogical.
Asian-Americans filed a lawsuit against Yale University for discrimination. The US Justice Department sued Yale. Two weeks after Biden's election that lawsuit was withdrawn.
Back to your question as to why General Brown would say so if not true.
Haven't you considered that his Commander-In-Chief (Biden) has given marching orders to the Secretary of Defense to root out racism. Therefore this is now THE hot button issue in the military. I would imagine that General Brown has little choice. I am shocked that you haven't considered this as a reason for General Brown statement. If the president of the United States says that there is racism in the military that must be addressed do you actually think the general Brown would go against his Commander in Chief and say that there isn't. How fast do you think his career would end? Use your brain
I'm not buying any of this. I was an officer in the United States Air Force decades ago. I guess you can say I'm an old man now and have seen a lot. And YES long before you were born I marched to end discrimination. But I'm not buying this.
I also think there is something called the "race card." People do all sorts of things to get jobs, raises, promotions, etc. People lie on their resumes, some women (no doubt a tiny minority) "sleep" their way to the top, etc. Do not think it is beneath some black folk to jump on this race hysteria to get a leg up on the next guy in competitive environments.
With corporations and government entities race-crazed, with social media posts going viral even a mild accusation that an individual was deprived a promotion, a raise, etc can result in fast compliance by the corporation or government entity.
Many African American political leaders and academics are aware of this brazen race hustling; to wit, Dr. Ben Carson, Larry Elder, Thomas Sowell, Congressman Burgess Owens, etc. Do not, for a moment, think all black folk think as you do. The black community is not monolithic.
This video seems to prove my point.

Are we realizing now that black and white terms carry no meaning in today's society? Our we now realizing that arguably one of the most American statuses you could ever attain in the United States is the prestigious top enlisted/commission ranks in the armed forces yet their still needs to be an "African-American" connotation. AMERICAN. American citizens need a history lesson on the unique ethnic groups that fall under the terms black and white because they are all distinctly different geographically. THIS IS THE PROBLEM. Modern Americans feel that black and white terms and categories deal with race and types of people and ignores the pioneers and immigrants that have traveled to this side of the world. Why do people that identify as black (and African-American; which is a distinct classification of someone who can trace lineage to a COUNTRY or CULTURE from the CONTINENT of Africa) feel like they need to prove that they belong to a country, a nation, that they helped build and protect? So many cultures have been decimated and assimilated out of the psych of the modern American that can be attributed to certain groups of Americans that are considered "black". But no one wants to talk about that though. Trust me, we don't want to keep bringing this up. But this will continue until we all understand that "race" is not real and we need to stop subjecting ourselves to identities based on color. Yet, this will fall on deaf ears...

It must be real tough being a 3 star general that has been held down his entire career. SMH.. If only the rampant racism in the US Air Force would allow such a guy to achieve a position few people in the military ever achieve regardless of his race... like Chief of Staff of the Air Force 🤔😂😂😂 What a joke 🙄

I was drafted in 72. During basic they had only white or black categories.. I remember how difficult it was for the bi-racial soldiers to answer that question....I remember also how other blacks responded to their difficulties.."just tell them you're a zebra," and many of the white soldiers thought this was funny....I didn't. We were all Americans...the need to distinguish color continues to this day, as does racism. There is a more diabolical reason behind the question of race and nothing good comes out of the answer.

It really wouldn't have been that difficult to answer that question if you were aware of the one drop rule in this country. You didn't want to answer to identify as black because you were aware of the stigma attached to being black and couldn't can say we're White because more than likely you didn't look pale enough to pass for white.
