@@KaitoSound not really. “Who are you” completely and utterly , means we’re getting character development when that’s what we’ve been saying (fans) RWBY needed. It goes with the story, especially if you use it in that context. Yknow, base the plot with the actual show instead of basing it off of another. It has Alice in wonderland VIBES. We got 55 seconds. Wait til the shows out.

I believe "What are you?" Is very true to this version than the original "Who are you?" Because we know who Team RWBY, Jaune, and Neo are. But the bigger question is WHAT they are
I swear to God if Jaune gets brainwashed/broken/turned into a villain (possibly with weird magic) I'm going to riot, I just want that boy to be happy.

Something notable about the brief flash of Neo is that *right* before it cuts away, if you look closely you can see a pink-ish shine from the bottom. About to use her Semblance to shapeshift? Or perhaps she's losing control of it because of her increasingly erratic emotions (as Roman Holiday establishes that sometimes her Semblance can manifest subconsciously, without her being aware of it)
Interesting thought, maybe the mystery character on the beach is just Neo but wearing a different "Skin", maybe that is what she looked like when she was at home. I have not read Roman Holiday so I don't know if they describe her appearence in that. Someone please enlighten me.
my first thoght after seeing that was she was pissed off looking at ruby and is transforming into Roman maybe? that'd be really cool to see. but could be anyone else she's shifting into
Strangely, the background of her scene is like the Land of Darkness as if her semblance is evolving, allowing Neo to shape shift not just herself but whole environments.
So I'm gonna go nuts on the knight style armor for a minute. In the teaser, during the brief second or two we see the person, whoever it is nods their head at the camera. So by this we know somebody is wearing that armor in the shot.
Comparing that armor to Jaune's brings up a lot of similarities, namely the gold trim at the edges of the plates. The whole design makes me think the armor Jaune wears is a stripped down version of an original full suit of armor. His is designed more for maneuverability in combat rather than tanking damage from an attack.
Also, the helmet tells us a lot about the armor, namely the condition its in. I thought they were shadows at first, but after a second look the dark patches under the visor and on the crown of the helmet are clearly oxidation. This indicates the armor has been exposed to the elements over an extended period and began rusting. Perhaps there's a temple or ceremonial site on the island where the armor was kept? Either way, this means that somebody was there before our characters were. I'd bet Jaune's ancestor wore that now rusted armor and somehow accessed this hidden realm. Its doubtful they would have left the armor there purposelly, which means Penny may not be the only deceased human in that realm
That figure is definitely wearing Jaune's armor, the gold on the shoulder pieces are more defined, but that's him. I've been waiting for him to get a helmet of some sort for the longest time.
(At 2:50) I don't think they're all "isolated." I can see Weiss, Ruby, and Yang all together on Blake's panel, right behind the vines.
I noticed that too, and it seems like in the trailer that the only times we see them together was in the jungle area, but that may have just been because that's the only footage revealed. It seems that they meet up in the jungle towards the beginning of the volume and I wonder if they then split off onto separate paths and each explores one of the different environment and regions to find any information or help and then they all meet at the tree when they make it through. This could allow them to have their own personal journeys to learn more about themselves and face their own personal conflicts.
If Jaune does encounter Neo before anyone else, chances are he's gonna somehow talk her down. They both lost someone that was very important to them, both were betrayed by someone they placed their trust in. Jaune = Pyrhra (loss) and Ozpin/Oscar (Betrayal). Neo = Roman (loss) and Cinder (betrayal). Or Jaune will encounter Neo, injured from her fall, Aura broken unarmed and most likely fuming with rage for Cinder and Ruby, but chances are the flame for Cinder is now a full blown wildfire and Ruby's put on the backburner. But Jaune might encounter Neo, she tries to attack him and collapses because she's utterly drained, and blacks out from exerting what little energy she had left. After she passes out, Jaune finds shelter, maybe a place where that 3 eyed creature may be dwelling. He dresses Neo's wounds with what he has available, uses his Semblance to restore Neo's Aura and heals her, but not completely so she doesn't kill him in his sleep. Or he restores her completely, goes to sleep, Neo wakes up and moves to kill him and this creature stops her, questioning her motives. And thats my set of theories for Jaune and Neo's possible story arc for this Volume.
I don't think Neo ever trusted Cinder. Had Cinder not betrayed Neo, the reverse probably would have happened at some point. They only ever saw each other as tools to be used and thrown away once they served their purpose.

Something interesting about the “what are you?” quote is that in the 4 minute clip that was shown, little asked ruby what she was and ruby gave multiple answers. Ruby will have to figure out who she truly is by this one question.
This is off-topic but I'm very curious to see what Salem will use the staff of creation for now that she has it. This also might be a big stretch but what if in this new realm team RWBY come across alternate versions of themselves or perhaps people who shadow them and that is what makes them question what or who they are. This last theory is also very far fetched but the with the talk of the relic of choice in Volume 8 and in the fairy tail of the undecisive king, and considering this new realm is called the Ever-After, I think its possible they could meet a rendition of the king and get a clue of where the relic is. They might even find it in the new realm and the near end of the volume we learn that Ospin actually knew about the other world which is why he hid it there in contrasts to the others. Another big theory of mine is that he hid it in Summer's fake grave.

The "Ever After" seems to be a mix of the Nine Realms and Wonderland, the shot of the Island with Team RWBY on the cliff looks like nine areas with a Wonderland theme to them with the World tree at the centre.
I think Jaune will meet the warrior lady and she is asking what is Jaune and he found he and Salem have a special connection and will probably think about how Tyrian took an Interest in him than ruby.
@@10tailedbijuu since the first episode he met him originally he was ordered to catch ruby and he wasn't interested in getting her but he had to and when he fight the rest Tyrian was curious about Jaune than the rest of Team RNJR.

To me, Volume 9 will be full of character-driven and character development focused stories. It’ll force Team RWBY, Neo, and Jaune to engage in some introspection.
3:26 Well, while people do have to keep their expectations reasonable, it's only natural that expectations would rise as the wait gets longer. If RT has spent this much additional time working on the volume, then it's reasonable to expect that the quality of the final product will be commensurate with that longer wait. I'm also not especially thrilled with CRWBY getting into so many of these side projects. It reminds me of all the time GRRM has spent over the last *decade-plus* doing so many things that *aren't* writing Winds of Winter, and how much that's hurt his brand because he hasn't delivered on the most important thing. Likewise, for CRWBY, the main series itself needs to be their top priority, because without it, there's nothing.
Don't get me wrong, I'm excited for volume 9, and I do think this teaser shows off some interesting visuals. At the same time, though, I'm very aware of the reality that RT cannot afford to whiff on this volume. While I thought volume 8 was quite good, clearly a significant chunk of the fanbase wasn't happy with some parts of it. Now we're having more than double the usual gap between volumes, which inevitably fuels more frustration. If, after all that, volume 9 turns out to be bad (combined with the fact that the delay to early 2023 suggests we're going to have to wait all the way until fall of 2024 for volume 10), it's difficult to see the show surviving.
I've really enjoyed the last three volumes in particular, I still love the show, and I hope to see it continue and do well. But as much as I hope for a good volume 9, RT can't afford a bad one after delaying it for this long.
You know what I want to see in RWBY V9,Dark Reflections of Team RWBY.
I believe that jaune for sure. Theres no way the writer forgot about him. They set him up under that armor because something happen. Either its bad or good.
It makes sense. Why aren't they showing Jaune. He was the last to fall. And I suspect the woman might as well be the 'Queen of Hearts' type of character from the reference. Like instead of taking 'heads' she takes 'hearts' which could be why Jaune gets all brainwashed. Wanting to have his emotions taken away for example.
The masked horned character looks quite similar to the Brother of Darkness, though the stripes makes me feel this could be a mockery like for a court jester.

Perhaps he’s a nod to Loki who was a god of mischief and led to ragnorok in Norse myth. Just a thought though.
I can see that knight being who Jaune fears to become, if not a dark reflection of himself.
That's something else I never thought of....
The fact Neo is also part of this. I think there's in a sense 2 villains. Neo can change into anyone. So I fell she may use everyone to get to the real Ruby so she gets her revenge and find her.
There's also the other woman....that we see in the trailer. Is she based on the Queen of Hearts or not. Since there's already lots of Alice in Wonderland references.
Someone told me that someone on the panel at RTX addressed that Volume 9 focus on Ruby and there will be a big impact on Jaune and Ruby's relationship. I mean this whole volume will be about finding their identities. Yes, I am a lancaster shipper. So I would hope this is the first steps to their friendship changing. As all the romances in this series have trials.
I mean If Jaune is manipulated for example....Ruby has to deal with learning of Penny's death (Weiss so clearly is telling her as you can see her crying) and just imagine having to deal with Jaune being brainwashed (it both would be heartbroken for her)
Wow you work fast xD. I did like te trailer, it looks stunning and maybe I'm indeed expecting to much because of the time it took to get here.
But this could indeed be a confusing question for Ruby, as she's 17-18 years old and would indeed have alot of questions already with everything that's going on in her life. *"What are you?"* Is Ruby human? Is she just a girl? Is she a huntress? Is she a silver eye warrior?
The answer she might need to come to realization to is that she is all these things. That everything she experienced (like as a kid in the RWBY manga wondering what happened to her mother, to Beacon falling, to their victory at Haven, to Pyrrha's and Penny's deaths) made her the way she is now. She is Ruby Rose.

that knight HAS to be Juane because I’ve been looking back and forth between the pictures and they are too similar. Most noticeable similarity is the chest armor. It’s hard to describe in a comment so I’ll let you look at it for a while.
I've been dreading this volume for a while. Ruby is going to be so sad over Penny. I am too. She was one of the show's best-written characters, and she deserved to live. It was pointless and cruel for RT to bring her back and put her through such a great character arc only to kill her off again.
I like the "Happy Ever After" and the "Happy Never Again" callback you did there, because that's exactly what's gonna happen when they first come into this world to when they finally go back home. They are gonna change drastically to the point where they're gonna be sad once they leave. I hope that this gives them the opportunity to grow stronger and clever once they are in this world and have the answers and are in tip top shape when they go back home
Reading some of the coments Im really worried for Jaune the most.
Some mention Jaune is using the armor but it could be many things. An example being a manifestation of his guilt and him having to overcome it or a simbol of his ancestors making itself known infront of him.

I also noticed that the Viking Warrior Lady I mentioned in the video seems to have similarly shaped armor so it could be her. There was also fire in the background of the knight and the Warrior so it's possibly the same person

I have to agree with you on this, Phoenix/Night, there've been a number of complaints so far about Volume 9's delay, plus there's been jerks, like Hero Hei, posting lying videos about Rooster Teeth and RWBY that aren't true, which to me, is very annoying.
I'm so hyped for this upcoming volume and can't wait to see your analysis videos on it.

Theres already a theory going around that our poor Jaune is gonna be the antagonist for volume 9 and that he’s gonna die. Personally I hope thats not the case but they have been consistently killing characters of since volume 6 so who knows. Someone also said that he could be going through something of a mental breakdown and he might end up fighting team RWBY. So overall i really enjoyed this trailer i liked it better rhat vol 8 trailer and im looking forward to what this volume will bring

@@IamCanadian3333 to me personally i feel like he'd had enough with the whole friend's keeps dying or hurt by cinder and with penny's death is his breaking point( since he had no choice to mercy kill her so she wouldn't get the maidens power) and since he doesn't have his team with him to anchor him and give him some comfort for what he did, he'll just loses his sanity and might go out for blood on cinder and he'll do whatever it takes. even going against ruby and her team or whatever wonderland throws at him. But thats just my interpretation

Hmm I wonder if Penny's blades will be used to help repair Jaune's sword and or upgrade Team RWBY's weapons in some way, the background of the scene with armoured machine looking woman seems like it could be a forge of some kind.
The helmet of the mysterious knight reminds me of Felix from Red vs Blue, who was voiced by Jaune's voice actor, Miles Luna.
I think when judgeful critter would watch this trailer they be like problems and then like someone would probably say I gave a lot of problems with Ruby and her friends

I can't help but think that The girl Who Fell are girls with Silver Eyes. Maybe in Rwbys family there is a girl name Alex who fell, then maybe Summer fell and now Rwby fell.

There’s a RWBY V9 C1 Clip currently out, yes.
I think the pocket dimension where the relics are hidden are somewhere in Ever After. The way for the 6 of them to return back to Remnant, will be to find the vault and enter from the other side. They might even conveniently acquire the sword of destruction while they're at it too. This would be very similar to the world of Avatar, especially Legend of Korra, where the portals lead to the spirit world, which has its own rules and creatures.
I had the same thought after Volume 8 but I dont think it's that simple. Otherwise the warning Ambrosius gave Ruby wouldn't hold much weight if they were only going to be transported to the realm connected to the Vaults. Especially since at the time they talked with Ambrosius they were already standing infront of one of the Vaults with Penny who was the maiden that could unlock it.
The vaults may be connected to other realms but i don't think its Ever After
In real life history Joan of Arc was burnt at the stake which might explain the flame surrounding the armor and The scorch marks also John does share a name with her and he did say that his sword and shield has been in his family for generations so maybe that's somehow and Joan of Arc was considered a saint so maybe that has some relevance
And since wonderland does have attendancy to represent discourse and confusion and make things backwards maybe there's a third God perhaps the Loki out of the three .
Or maybe ever after was what they were tinkering with after they wiped out humanity or maybe it's the paradise they were trying to create or maybe it was the first thing they made before reminant and remnant is the actual remnant of their project which would be ever after ?

In Alice through the looking glass, there is a poem about the Jabberwocky that mentions a tree called the Tum Tum Tree.

The tree is a reference to the tree she fell alseep under in the original book which is how she entered wonderland in her dream she chased the rabbit and fell in after she left wonderland she woke up under the tree

I think the new world is a world that gives you purpose, that when you find your purpose you are given a name. *spoilers ahead because I was the clip* also before I explain my theory, you really going to ignore the giant cherries in the ice cream land?
Anyway, the reason I think this is because Little doesn’t have a name they say they aren’t old enough yet so Ruby gave them that name. Plus, when Ruby was trying to explain to Little who she was, saying she is a human a girl a huntress, Little was confused because they are questioning what she is and Ruby said she was and to quote the mice “that’s a lot of things” So in this world they identify themselves by purpose.
@@10tailedbijuu that is true. Though Little wasn't that shocked about Ruby being there. Meaning humanoid beings do exist there. Plus the way Little questioned Ruby is just weird.
You know that Joan of Arc, the person who Jaune is an allusion of, dies while accused of being a heretic and burned at the stake? I can only imagine this may be how Jaune will die in the story, trying his best to convince either a group of people or Remnant as a whole, and being killed like a heretic. And burned.

Great to see your theory videos again. It's been hard waiting for so long for updates on the upcoming volume, so I honestly haven't paid much attention to your channel for quite some time as I had to focus my attention on other things to help pass the time. So, I am sorry about that.
I may be wrong, but some of the interior images with Ruby show some similarities to the ceiling design that's in the background with the horned character, and it looks like those same images with Ruby show lighting from a flaming source. So, could it be from same image with the woman in the armor?
I saw a video the other day questioning if that woman may be Summer. It's interesting in what the theory suggests, although it's quite a significant change of attire for her character.

RT needs to get their priorities straightened out. There is NO reason for a theatrical release right now when established IP is struggling to get people into the theaters already thanks to COVID. This is just a waste of time and effort that should have gone to getting V9 out on time. This could have been done AFTER the volumes ended since it is not going to be a Cannon story anyway (can't be if it set in the JL world). But once again, RT pursues the shiny new thing (like they did with Gen:Lock) instead of focusing on their core flagship product. Just bad project management.

I'm surprised not only was an Animated RWBY/Justice League movie was announced but the fact its theatrical raises a bit of an eyebrow. Granted this reveals this was a decision that previous WB/DC management made as the last project under that management before the merger but considering that storyline raised eyebrows for both DC and RWBY fans and I think it did poorly in sales since I hadn't heard reviews except for the first two issues I had forgotten it was a thing. Why make a movie on a project at least to my knowledge, nobody cares for? Sure we have seen comics that were bad do incredibly well in movie form like Civil War on the Marvel side of things so this could be possible as well, however considering the previous animated movie based on Injustice was terrible(not counting the newly announced Supersons movie that looks good) I'm extremely cautious on this film

Honestly, I will be happy if Neo makes it out this season, I just have this feeling that she might get Romaned, I honestly will drop the show if they kill of Neo (ok no I won't but I will dislike the show)

I doubt they'd do that to Neo, she is super popular but then again so was Roman so I guess no guarantees. Either way Neo has a few grudges that need to be resolved so I'd wager that she will survive the Volume
There are so many questions that I hope Team RWBY get answers to (as a team and individually). Little is important, as well as the girl. I've missed watching your videos! If this is similar to Alice, I'd expect that to be the Queen of Hearts in the trailer.
