I've noticed something similar in other skits as well. I feel that the writers purposely left some of the cast members in the dark just to make it fun. I mean, all these guys probably are very experienced with improv, they should know what to expect and play along.
the gaps of silence in this sketch made it feel like a real situation, honestly, even the parts where they broke.
For real, it was very uncomfortable, but in a convincing way.

I think that's also because Daniel Craig actually acts in his skits, he feels like a real person instead of a character. It seems to influence the other actors as well.

@@shahataman I've seen it. His accent and acting are completely absurd, which is all the better. I wished he were in more comedies though
i would honestly say its less talent, more enthusiasm. like his weird foghorn leghorn accent in Knives Out gets grating but you know he's having a fucking blast doing that instead of the serious Bond films. I wouldn't say he's very funny in this, but you can really tell that he's super happy to be doing it, and that shows through and elevates the sketch

@@G59METH i get where you're coming from but no bond movie is a comedy. they all have levity and a fair bit of dark humor but they are almost unequivocally drama films. On Her Majesty's Secret Service for example, is a very emotional and darkly toned Bond. the same could be said of License to Kill (one of the most underrated Bond films), not to mention all of Craig's Bonds are darker than most, Casino Royale is when the character became a character with the death of Vesper, Quantum is a revenge film, Skyfall attempts to make us care about Bond as a youth, and Spectre is the new introduction of the sexually and emotionally abusive, stunted Bond that we all know from the series. Saying Bond isn't a serious character, especially when talking about the Craig Bond movies is one of the most retarded things i've read on this platform

It's not his real accent. He's from Liverpool. Now he's got a "non-specific location in the UK" accent, probably from acting school.
Someone commented that that gappens to a lot of British and Irish sctors who host SNL: their accent sounds fake, even though it's real. I guess it's because the (mostly) American cast does so many exaggerated takes on Irish and British accents that a real one is immediately written off as fake.
Surprisingly, this didn't happen when James McAvoy (who, despite playing Brits and Americans, is Scottish and has the hard brogue to prove it) hosted.

I think she had to ad-lib because Daniel missed a lot of cues and she was a little upset about having to carry the scene through.

I keep coming back to this sketch; it's got so many great elements; the awkward flirting, the double entendres, some pretty good gags like the Korean and the whole idea of ambiguous quotes, and even character breaks courtesy of none other than Kate McKinnon, who rarely breaks.

@@camrynmcgough2612 he has been trying to get fired from the James Bond series for a long time. he was locked into a multi movie contract like they do with all the actors playing Bond and for the last few movies he had been doing his damnedest to get them to fire him so he isn't the one to breach the contract.
This kinda Bond burnout happens with most actors who agree to play Bond. It's just been funny to see some of the wacky stuff and antics he has said/done during all the press tours for the last few Bond movies trying to get the studio to sack him.

Daniels excellent acting really sells this one, he’s so natural and not awkward at all, some of the celebrity guests they have on do not mesh well in comedy skit scenarios. Also Heidi’s great too

Even though Daniel Craig has hosted SNL before, I imagined he’d be “stiff” tonight, and the writers would kind of work around him. But he was really loose and fun in this episode, and killed it every sketch he was in! I will miss him as James Bond, but seeing this comedic side of him makes me realize that we will be in for real treats as he gets the freedom to take on different types of projects!

Because sketches are not edited, the true art is making the pauses and transitions work. I think Craig is so good at basically winking to the crowd in those moments, not simply waiting for the other actors to respond

Heidi killed it in this sketch. The characters have to be done just right to make a sketch like this one work and this is evidence to me (as if it were needed) that Heidi is a force to be reckoned with in the comedy world.
I loved the awkwardness that she brought out in her character, then the subtle, slow way she entered Daniel's personal space. It made the kiss inevitable at the end.
'Shit!' whispered the whole cast, after Heidi won the weekly lottery for kissing the host.
