I think she's at her strongest playing the frustrated normal wife. (As opposed to the crazy wife.) Loved her in the Lexus ad, the Boop-It ad, and the RV life sketch.
yeah her crazy wife tends to have this shaky high-pitched voice which puts me out of it tbh. i still think she's brilliant i just can't hear the voice as anything but a voice she's doing, rather as part of the character
Heidi is by far my favorite and she is def VERY underrated....I think it is amazing how she can play anything from a 17 yo kid (Bailey Gismert), to a middle aged mother to an older person with the right wig aged 60+....

My choice would be a remake of the original Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, and she plays the great Kim Darby's role. She is an artist of panic.

That skit was a hilariously horrible, toxic interaction about a real thing....she doesn't want to be the person who does almost all of the childcare, and pretty much 100% of the tedious-rather-than-fun parts ... And she learned how to do all those parts by learning and doing, not by magically just knowing. Both partners need to be good partners who don't allow the other to do way too much of a certain category of work, and who either look up directions and follow them to learn needed skills, or are open to asking and being taught by the partner who knows how to do the thing already.
It's not really acting, what she's doing. First she's exasperated wife. Then frustrated wife. Then angry wife. Then unhappy wife. What range she has. Amazing. /s

Heidi Gardner is the cream floating on SNL milk. Put her and Mikey Day together and hilarity just spills out of them both. I've been around since the NRFPTP and I say there has been no better grouping on the show. They're all good. McKinnon, Strong, and Gardner were/are a savage triple comedy threat. Gardner is the queen of the sell. She buys right into it and so do we. If she's in the skit...you're going to laugh. The perfect example of her talent and skill: "So you want to date a Magician." She steals a really well-done skit right out from the others.
