Notice how The show had to end when Isaac started getting real about the powers that be, we all know he was right.
The elites will allow for these shows, so as to give the illusion of expression and concern as long as they skirt around the actual issues.

The main problem is the Independent Power Producers who are paid 75% of returns yet they produce only 30% of the total power produced. Some of them, solar and wind producers are paid at Installed Capacity and not the power produced.
When my power Bills hit KShs 10,000 and above, I started converting to to solar and doing away with some "Luxuries". All my security lighting is now solar. I am also using a 5KVA Diesel Generators using a 1930 Lister 6/1 Slow Speed engine. However, recently with the cost of diesel approaching KShs 182, the Diesel Engine has become quite expensive to run, So I will convert everything to Solar as there are Batteries which will allow night use.

For me, the logic of paying more if one uses more is justified. Those in the middle to higher income brackets who can afford air conditioning, heaters and the rest of the appliances, will not struggle to pay the bills as it will be a lower percentage of their income and therefore, their bills need not be subsidized.
On the other hand, those who need the electricity for lighting and other menial electric loads are most likely on the lower income brackets and thus, can benefit from the subsidized rates.

Go to middle east where they have nothing to do with your civilization and your western civilization they enjoyed everything their country offered, cheap fuel, cheap electricity, cheap water and constant running water in the middle of the desert no taxation. Next time you amend your constitution, remove democracy, remove capitalism and introduce authoritarian or communism system. Me I will go for Monarch system with absolute power.
