    ⚡ / 🔥 😱 🔥
    That was a sixteen year old Su-metal.
    She premiered the song the night before, at Budokan Red Night.
    Rondo is easily in my top ten BABYMETAL songs.
    Su performed three solos that night.
    She did 'No Rain, No Rainbow', followed by 'Akatsuki' earlier in the set.
    Yui and Moa (as Black BABYMETAL) did two songs without Su that night ('4 no Uta' and 'Onedari Daisakusen'), and they performed a bunch of songs together.
    That Black Night Budokan concert from March 2014 is still one of my favorite BABYMETAL concerts.
    Not only is Su brave enough to sing and dance on a tiny elevated platform in the dark, but she also has the confidence to follow those blistering Kami Band solos.
    That's real courage. : )

      It's almost like Su-metal's state of mind is: ohh, a challenge ?! I'll take it, this is gonna be fun !

    Good reaction - and BABYMETAL always sound better live (not just heavier, you also get Su's natural voice without the unnecessary over-processing they do to her in the studio recordings).

  • @cuttysark8017
    @cuttysark8017 3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

    The DVD and Blue Rays of concerts are the way to enjoy BM, unless you can see them live, because you get to hear the Kami band solos and experience the dancing and the stage production.
    Rondo is one of Su's solos which gives Yui and Moa some time to rest. They then return the favor and perform together as Black Babymetal without Su.

      Maybe not the first, but definitely most don't notice it. I think it fits very well, since the song has a sort of dark waltz feel.
      Performing up on that thing is even more impressive when you realize that, with all the lights shining in her face, she probably couldn't see the edges. Very nerve-wracking, especially when you consider what happened with Yui the night before.

    Su is just SIXTEEN here! I have to mention that AND even remind myself every time, because her stage presence makes it so easy to forget that fact. She may look like a tiny 5ft-1inch mortal, but she is a metal goddess. Great reaction guys! 🦊🤘

  • @ferr44
    @ferr44 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    Great reaction! The Intro goes under the name "Mischief of Metal Gods" and you are right, they only play it in live shows. There are more songs which usually start with an instrumental intro.

  • @glenkelley6799

    Great random pick. When Su is doing the waltz the time signuature is 3/4, so that makes sense.

    • @piotrtoborek2442
      @piotrtoborek2442 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly, song switches tempo between verse and chorus an that part is indeed 3/4

  • @sebaa_cl

    Oh man, I freaking love this song. One of the best performances I've ever seen. The band absolutely nailed those solos, and Su... man, she is just talented af, they all are. I'm glad that you finally got to this one. This is one of Su's solo songs, that's why you didn't see Yui and Moa. I really love you reactions guys, keep 'em coming! I hope you get to Akatsuki live at Budokan Black Night. It's another Su solo that I think you MUST see. Love ya! 🦊🖤

  • @papa_xan

    Over the first two albums Su has a total of four songs she performs solo, this one, Akatsuki (which has two version, a heavy and a ballad), Amore, and the tear jerker that is No rain, No rainbow. The other two girls, Moa and Yui also have four songs they perform together without Su, Onedari Diasakusen, 4 no Uta, GJ, and Sis Anger. When they perform without Su they're referred to as Black Babymetal.

    • @silly_programme5061
      @silly_programme5061 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Definitely recommend checking out some Black Babymetal. GJ! is my favorite, but there are only compilations on YT (using footage from multiple concerts). Onedari Daisakusen and Song 4 (4 no Uta) have good full performances up on YT if you prefer to avoid compilations.

  • @satoru4797
    @satoru4797 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Nice video! This song is about being trapped ina an unescapable nightmare being haunted by an unseen creature. This is one out of 4 Su's solos. The others are Akatsuki, Amore, and No Rain, No Rainbow. She performs these to give Yui and Moa a few minutes of break. The two also have songs together. The duo was named "Black Babymetal". Their songs are Sis. Anger, Onedari Daisakusen, GJ! , and Song 4. They also perform this to give Su a break. In this performance, it is also believed that Yui and Moa were doing their homeworks backstage while Su is entertaining the crowd with her vocals. They're still little here after all! They're about 16 and 14 when they performed here.
    The intro here was the "Mischief of Gods" performed by the Kami Band. We also believe that it was a ritual needed to perform to summon Su from hell and only those with the skill of the Kami Band can perform it. So, the first guitar was by Leda Cygnus. The second guitar was from Takayoshi Ohmura. The 6 string bassist is BOH and the drummer was Hideki Aoyama. There are other versions of the intro performed together with other Kami Band members. Namely, Mikio Fujioka on guitar and Yuya Maeta on drums. All versions are great. They never fail to impress!

    You're definitely right that the song, and BABYMETAL in general, is way heavier live. Especially the first album. Some of the songs on it were, at least partly, produced by J-Pop staff because they were still part of Idol Group Sakura Gakuin, which BABYMETAL was a sub-group of (heavy music club) at the beginning. J-Pop is all about performance first, vocals second and sometimes it seems the background music isn't more than a needed necessity. You can hear the difference the most with Doki Doki Morning or Headbanger for example, two of the singles that were released under the Sakura Gakuin banner and are on SG albums. They're all good studio tracks, but they only get heavy when performed live.

  • @MacTaipan
    @MacTaipan 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You are right, the instrumental intro is not part of the actual song. From time to time they give the Kami Band a few minutes to shine. The song does indeed have some Waltz elements, like the 3/4 rhythm, and it's certainly no coincidence that Su incorporates some Waltz steps into her choreography.
    All of their songs sound a bit heavier live, and many of us actually prefer the live versions. Also, Su's voice keeps maturing, of course, which makes the songs mature along with her to some extent. Her voice did sound pretty young on the first album.
    I love this song, the atmosphere is very cool and fits the lyrics very well, and the melody in the chorus is so beautiful! And Su's vocals and stage presence are awesome.

  • @timthomsonart

    The Red/Black Budokan Blu-ray is awesome!

  • @Jordan-Ramses
    @Jordan-Ramses 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Yeah the intro is live only. It belongs to the Kami Band and not Babymetal. The intros are not on any of the studio albums. The Western Kamis do their own intros which are similar but not the same.
    Babymetal has 4 studio songs with Su only and 4 with only Moa and Yui which was branded 'Black Babymetal'. 2 of each from the first and second albums. The 4 solo songs are Akatsuki, Rondo of Nightmare, Amore and No Rain No Rainbow. The 4 Black songs are Onedari Daisakusen, GJ!, Sis Anger and Song 4.
    They also did some cover songs. Su did 'White Love' and 'Tamashii no Rufuran'. Moa did 'Love Machine' and Yui did 'Chokotto Love'. Those are all from the very early days when they didn't have so many of their own songs. Those were all done without the Kami Band. I'd love to see them redone in a concert someday. Even their covers are great.
    They also do a cover song with all 3 girls but it was really more of a crossover. 'Kimi to Anime Ga Mitai' which was like a crossover with another Amuse group. The other group covered 'Doki Doki Morning' and Kimi to Anime was their song. They did perform Kimi to Anime live at Budokan with the Kami Band. Another cover was 'Over the Future' which was a cover of Karen Girls which was the group Su was in 2 years before Babymetal was formed. So she covered herself.

    So, if you still don’t know, I suggest reacting to Distortion (live 2018) and Syncopation (it’s a little older and less “known”, but it’s really cool) 😉

    • @silly_programme5061
      @silly_programme5061 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For Distortion, I highly recommend the video 'The Epic Experience of Babymetal'. It uses Distortion as the music to a trailer of sorts for BM concerts, and it's really well edited. Even better than watching Distortion at Download 2018 in my opinion.

My spotify is me having uploaded all of their songs from live concerts lol. Best BM is always Live BM :).

    Great reaction I suggest to react to awadama fever by Babymetal. There’s an amusing story behind it. All of the haters and some of the critics said they were bubblegum pop with squeaky voices so they decided to do a cute industrial metal song about a mint flavoured bubblegum time machine basically to say chew on that

    Nice & thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。Kamis' (=Gods') super plays are excellent enough as a main event in the show, but once the 16-year-old Queen emerges from the underground, she colors everything differently and turns Kamis' plays into a ritual to summon her.

    Not unless I missed it the song is about oh young girl having a nightmare and being chased by some demon who was going to kill her and she's trying to hide from it when she goes into that soft voice she has accepted her fate and is asking the demon to let her see it once before it kills her.

    I realized once again that about 30% of babymetal's work is due to the power of Mikiko, the choreographer.
    I am convinced that babymetal would not have been successful without Mikiko.
    The value of Babymatal lies in the expression of the stage.

    The guy is the exact interpretation of giving 100%. Always. So maybe the solos clock up 125% or something?
