I don't think you can call them incompetent. I see much worse design where no protection is in place and traces melt down causing a disaster forcing you to grind the pcb side to side.
So not only you found the fault and fixed it bit also upgraded the PCBs with TWO fuses for better chance to sustain another fault in the future? And also checked all the phases with the scope? Comparing to those professionals setting their "hot air station at maximum" to remove components from boards, I am impressed! Can you please share what the flux, solder mark and UV lamp are please? So I have to add Zotac (tbh they dont have the best QA) to the same be-aware/dont buy list as Gigabyte (cracked PCB's due to inferior PCB substrate design)... nice work as always Khris.

Пуска сигнал и преди да зареди win10 - губи сигнал и почва да върти на 100% охлаждането. MATHS показва грешки на 4 vram-a, ама малко - 64 грешки на всеки от 4-те чипа. Не откривам да има short никъде. На термал камера показва GPU-to i VRAM-a, че са горещи, а след като загуби сигнал - само GPU-to остава горещо. Ама не се предавам, благодарение на нея, научавам страшно много инфо. Ако имаш някакви насоки бих бил благодарен.

as far as i know the Zotac card is using the reference PCB for the 3060Ti (maybe some minor customisation such as component selection but the layout should be the same) which is also used by pretty much all the cheap 3060Ti cards from vendors like Palit, Inno3D, Gainward and so on. those might all have the same problem.
wow... i have like 50 cards of this model.. 3060ti lhr most working fine... 10 wroken i look into one and have this same problem...i have one on my hand and blow same trace and same cap broken. i think is common problem .. since most of the cards fail the same time and most where conected on the same power supply..

Very nice fix! And is it just me? But it seem like Zotac is much more prone to failure overall than other GPUs? Literally when I am browsing our local Auction site and find broken GPUs they will be Zotac with no picture and running fans
@@breakingyourlegs I never had a Zotac myself though. I been using MSI and Gigabyte a lot for the last decade. But I do browse auctions for bargains and then I see a lot of broken Zotac gpus with commonly the same issues

I'm on Texas. I have a Sapphire Pure 7800xt. No power, dead. Nothing looks wrong. Sapphire won't pay to ship. Even if the limited warranty will cover what's wrong. There's a 50 dollar fee regardless. If I gotta pay I'd rather just have someone repair it and let someone make money. Other than Sapphire. I already gave them my money and expected it to work longer than another over a year. Might as well support a repair shop. Can you either suggest someone near me. Or do you take repairs and would be willing to try?
Now im concerned I have a 3080ti from zotac do you have experience with this type of card ha s the sam design with the missing fuses to prevent such blown parts? Excuse I typed my dream in reality only 3080ti.

Hi bro nice video I lile the editing. Do you know how it's possible to test hynix GDDR6 memory using MODS test 94 or 178? On my computer it gives an error but it works fine if it's testing samsung or micron gddr6.
Hiding the fuses in the circuit board, it's not like they are going to repair it at Zotac if RMA'd, then why? Whole point of fuses is to have a weaker failure point that is easily replaceable... Feels like the ASUS design where 1-2 components have no cooling and will eventually fail, consumer won't know anything about it though.
Wow, watching vid while fixing the same card. Surprised to find same exact internal fuse on the trace. You got lucky, yours was a bad cap. Mine was a blown mosfet from PEX_12V to FBVDDQ. R.I.P.
Palit 3060 ti I shorted pins 2 and 3 of the cable fan socket. 12-5 v is ok, 1.8v pex , mem, vdd voltages are not. Is the gpu damaged? :( 1.8 rail 0 ohm ) help please

Meh I own one grabbed before the GPU mess became real in january 2020. Mine is still holding but it's used 6 months per year so hopefully I'll retire it before this happens.. I hardly ever buy zotac, this time I had to because it was basically the only GPU at a decent price I could grab before crap hit the fan. Now a new one costs like 100 eur less than what I paid it for at the time.. It's also relatively noisy and runs mildly hot. Nice to watch anyway :)
I had a bad experience with an 8600GT from Zotac more than a 1.5 decade ago (maybe i have it still there); it burned unfortunately, the one and only ever burned, and the whole pc was just nearly a week old (new parts)... when i started the computer, there was smoke and it smelled burned. Everything else survived till i upgraded the pc, so it was definetly a bad zotac design; maybe it was a stock nvidia design, who knows...
With how much money they charge us for these cards these days, you'd think they would make it better quality. Forget squeezing out that extra 2 to 5% of performance. I just want my stuff to last. My 1070 from EVGA still works but my 3090 went poof.

nope, short circuits don't care about undervolting or not, they pull as much power as they can till something is destroyed, being the cap or the trace on the board. Fuses are for saving the board, if properly sized they will save the board but pretty much nothing else

Here in my region it's mostly kfa2 and palit on 2nd.. but 3rd place probably zotac or pny.

Are only capacitors safe to rip out of the board like that, is it actually safer to just rip it off?
I don't urge anyone to do as I do. It's definitely better than using hot air and heating the whole PCB for one capacitor

Use google but uP semiconductor are used in video cards often for pwm controllers or doublers

It's too early to tell, these cards are too new. The problems start to become noticeable after a few months
I've repaired 3 that 've the same problem. The tracks 're very small

Sir, does the Zotac 4070 Ti Trinity has the same issue ? I know it's still under warranty but still wish to keep it longer with me.
Zotac provide 5 years warranty, you should be fine as long as u don't OC it crazy

in malaysia Zotac come with 5year warranty.. (if you reg online) i guess they stanby this kinda fix ready..

Do you think undervolting the GPU would (hopefully) prevent this kind of thing? I have the same model, but it's a 3070.
