    Been wanting to say that I really like your shot choices and editing. I have a regular job but I have been involved in video production for the last 17yrs. Directing, editing, production, I don't operate cameras to often anymore but I do teach camera work. I've done TV, Live streaming, Professional sports. Your certainly not cutting too much (I like it), it doesn't pull you from the story unfolding before you, I notice the focus rolling but those shots are simply interesting and not distracting.You've made the talking head shot interesting, appreciate what your doing!

      Thank you, I appreciate the feedback. I'm constantly trying to improve the quality of my video, light, and sound. I tinker all the time and I'm never satisfied. It's always a work in progress and never perfected. It's a fun learning experience. Cheers!

      @@whiskeyisajourney When your producing, your never totally happy, but those in front watching never know your struggle on choices or when your dissatisfied. The struggle keeps you on a trajectory of improvement. The framing is solid and interesting and the close ups have the desired effect of pulling people into the story. Your doing a great job!

    Peter, great 5.
    Mine would be:
    1) 4Roses BS even though just under 120, it's a nice, lighter yet spicy pour
    2) Maker's Mark CS
    3) ECBP
    4) GTS since it is so deep and balanced
    5) JoeMag Cigar Blend with deep and dark notes of dates, figs, raisins and walnuts
    SPECIAL = Parker's Heritage 16th Ed Double Barreled bourbon with a beautiful full nose, palate and finish.

    I always start with a much easier drinking spirit, before going high proof, especially if folks are not regular spirits drinkers.
    In your line up, I would start with the “easiest”: JD SBBP. And yes…it is legally bourbon. Thanks!!!

    • @whiskeyisajourney
      @whiskeyisajourney  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That makes sense. Easy sippers to start and work your way up. Cheers!

      If JD is Bourbon then someone needs to tell them to market themselves as a Bourbon. They want to be a Tennessee Whiskey.

    My personal order would be Knob Creek 9 (120), OKI SiB(123), Old Forester BP (128), ECBP A123 and finish on a ECPB store pick at 131 proof. My 6th would be a Knob Creek store pick (120). I like starting with the Knob Creek because is drink lower than 120 then the OKI because it is hot but should set the table for the following bottles. I finish with the 2 Elijah Craig bottless because while A123 is excellent, the 9yr store pick is amazing. Showing off that a 9yr can be a lot better than a 12yr.

    • @whiskeyisajourney
      @whiskeyisajourney  ปีที่แล้ว

      The more I think about my order I struggle with the placement of the Knob Creek. That Jim Beam nuttiness throws me off. And I'm not sure if I put it at the beginning or the end.

    • @BrianVaughn
      @BrianVaughn ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@whiskeyisajourney it might drink too easy by the end. Maybe it's me but I don't pick the nuttiness in Knob Creek unless I really look for it. Then again Elijah Craig and Knob Creek are my favorites.

    Any and all are great choices. I’d start with the larceny being a wheater it’s a bit lighter in profile than the others then the EC KC OF GTS. I wish I could get these but they aren’t available in my area. Enjoy!!

    • @whiskeyisajourney
      @whiskeyisajourney  ปีที่แล้ว

      I've never had Doc Swinson's before, but I hear a lot of people like it. Wild Turkey Rare Breed is great, but was just too low of proof to put on my list. That's why I wanted to hear from everyone. Cheers!

    Interesting selection. I realise that I have an OF shaped hole so I will have to get ahold of one. I'd probably go William Larue Weller, George T Stagg, ECBP, Still Austin and Bookers.

    Great lineup. I do not have palate for KC 120, though, like KC 100. So would substitute KC with Joseph A Magnus Cigar Blend (my batch is 60.05% ABV). Sadlly, I'll never have GTS, so as special pour will offer Stagg Jr.

    • @whiskeyisajourney
      @whiskeyisajourney  ปีที่แล้ว +1

  • @waynefialo9492
    @waynefialo9492 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I agree with your idea of starting with the sweeter ones first and then working way up to the heartier ones. Maybe the JD or EC, then Larceny, and onto KC. (I've never tried that OF or GTS) Work the OF in depending on the profile and definitely save the GTS for the finale. Cheers.

    • @whiskeyisajourney
      @whiskeyisajourney  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like your order. I definitely think the OF and JD need to have something between them because they are similar in profile with the banana notes.

  • @MichaelSullivanCincinnatux

    I'd go:
    Larceny Barrel Proof
    Elijah Craig Barrel Proof
    Old Forester Barrel Strength
    Knob Creek Single Barrel
    Jack Daniel's Barrel Proof
    I would end with the JD because it is (IMO) the best whiskey of the 5 you have in your standard set. It has a profile that blooms on the palate and it does a great job of keeping most of its ethanol integrated (whereas Heaven Hill products tend to get a little shouty at high proofs). I agree with you that Knob Creek should be toward the end of the lineup because it is a robust profile that has heft to it and the others (especially the Larceny & Elijah Craig) might seem thin by comparison.
    Overall, I like the 5 bottles you chose. If someone has difficulty getting the OFSiBBS or either of the Heaven Hill bottles in your lineup, maybe they can get 1792 Full Proof. If not, Benchmark Full Proof or Blue Note Juke Joint Uncut Unfiltered would not be awful additions to the lineup. If a person happens to have a Booker's release handy, they could substitute that in for the Knob Creek.
    For the sixth bottle, rather than a bottle of unobtanium I'd probably go with a finished bourbon so they could contrast a good finish against 5 solid straight bourbons. But if you wanted to stick with straight bourbons yet couldn't get a BTAC bottle, maybe go with a Stagg or Woodford Reserve Batch Proof.

    • @whiskeyisajourney
      @whiskeyisajourney  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a great response Michael. Thanks! I almost put the Stagg Jr in the line up, but pulled it at the last second for the KC. I like the Booker's idea as well. I am still waiting to see a 1792 Full Proof in my area. I have a BiB pick that's fantastic, but I have never seen the Full Proof.

    I have the first 5 on the list, but I can only hope to get a George T Stagg. I have a Stagg that is 132.2 proof, so that’s probably as close as I’ll get. The Old Forester Single Barrels always seem to drink a bit hot to me. I really love those two Heaven Hill offerings. Cheers!

    Order, I think I’d go in order of price. I don’t know that proof or flavor changes anything at the end .
    My 5: Larceny (B523 specifically is my favorite) > Bookers (Story Teller)> JD SBBP > OF Single Barrel> ECBP by default, although I think it’s slightly overrated. Knob 9 was really disappointing to me. I get so much ethanol, but I hope I come around on it eventually. Bonus #6 would probably be a Stagg but I can’t find one. I’ve only sampled it.

    I actually really like this lineup. I would replace KC9 with Frey Ranch BP just to get a smaller distillery in there. I think I would also replace either the OF or JD with a 1792 FP just to get a different profile. And on that note, replace EC with Bookers. I would keep the GTS as my special bottle. This lineup would show the differences between Brown-Forman, Barton, Jim Beam, Heaven Hill, Buffalo Trace, and a smaller distillery. I usually do my tastings by proof order, but I like the idea of sweeter bottles first.

    • @whiskeyisajourney
      @whiskeyisajourney  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It has been my experience that bourbon or whisk(e)y in general is going to increase the heat of the food. I would personally shy away from spicy food and whiskey all together. If the Indonesian or Asian food is not spicy then I'd say you would have to experiment. I have not done that experiment so I can't say for sure what would compliment those foods. I love Thai, Indian, Asian, Sushi, pho and other international cuisine, but I typically shy away from drinking whiskey while eating my main meal. It's typically something I drink before or after a meal.
