that is what you think in this time of the 21st century and you are right but in his time he was foreign to them from a colonized country they probably thought how can someone who came from a colonized country have power in a high-rank military in a country that was not colonized, this kinda thinking was not Ethiopia though but also in other countries like northern and southern Vietnam which the other were seen as a dog of USA and the others of the soviet union.

His peaceful stand among the ignorant, arrogant, and power hungry Derg officers was unfortunate for Ethiopia and a bitter blessing for Eritrea. After all, it was this very war that weakened Ethiopia and also bore and put TPLF on power. And here we are in a Civil war. This General's strategies and conflict resolution could have ripped off the legitimacy of different factions fighting against central government. Those strategies were timely then but too late now.

My father was General Aman Andom ADC at 3rd ሻለቃ። Aman was never a friend of Menegistu. My dad who was denied raise as Menegistu. The only two officers the raise in the entire Army because their political ideology was left leaning.
General Aman Andom loved by many & respected, but feared by foreigners.
My dad was chosen by Aman to go to Holetta Military academy because he was a sharp shooter & the General saw his talent as the Emepror saw goodness in General Aman.
My dad & Manegistu Graduated 19th Round, thanks to the Great Military mind General Andom. He will alwyas be missed.❤❤❤

He would simply sleep on the ground with a blanket and using the 'KODDA' (army water bottle) as his pillow. He used to do the same thing in KOREA while the Ethiopian Army was courageously fighting for PEACE & DIGNITY among Human-Beings.
