    Thank you! Started showing my dog the salty collar and every time he smelled it Mark and reward. He’s a German Shepherd Australian cattle dog mix. Wow he will learn so fast and so freaking smart.

    It is a bit tricky to put on, I have a pit/staffy and he pulls horribly, so I bought one along with the leash, he fought me for about 15 minutes and kept getting it off his nose, but once I got it on and adjusted it he was fine. We left the house and had the best walk EVER! He’s 4 and has always pulled and tries to “race” cars and other dogs, it was the 1st time and 1st product that has worked, I am so happy with it! I want to try it out on our English Bull Terrier too because he’s very stubborn and a puller too, I just got it so we’re still new to it... but so far so good!

    I first purchased this HALTI when my dog was too young for it - he might have been less than a year old, for sure. He is a highly stubborn Goldendoodle (very common trait for this breed) and even with extremely high-value treats and diligent coaxing, he absolutely refused to wear this back then. About 6 moths ago, I moved into an apartment, so regular dog park attendance and daily walks became a must for my buddy - training him with treats on a regular leash was an absolute pre-requisite (in my humble opinion), but...nonetheless...it taught him to come back. (Don't get me wrong, just two days ago my dog nearly pulled my arm out of its socket due to some random smell in my building's hallway).
    So all in all, some dogs just need to mature before they're willing to wear it. He turned 2 yesterday and I tried it again for the first time in over a year. It was the best experience - I actually looked forward to taking him on a walk for the first time since bringing him home as an 8-week old pup. Today he didn't even resist letting me put the HALTI on him at all. It may depend on the dog, but it took some maturing and tons of training before became a useful tool. BUT IT WAS WORTH IT!!!!

    Best thing you can get, I have a English cocker spaniel (worker looking one) and he loves to pull, put this on him and he can't pull and walk nicely (even though he tries to get it off) only used it 4 times now so he's still getting used to it, he can't jump up at people or other dogs

    Looks easy on a calm dog, my 8 month old lab goes nuts when I try and get it on her. I've tried treats but its very stressful. Any suggestions would be very encouraging.

      If she goes ape when you try to put the head collar on her, don't torture her any further. Most dogs hate it when you put a jock strap on their face. Try an Easy Walk harness instead.

    My dog is OK putting it on though not too keen I still get it on fairly easily and he can chill with it but as soon as we start walking he freaks out and removes it in less than a second. I'm baffled how this can be effective?

    These are ok if you like stopping every 30sec to untangle their front legs

    Step Four: Note that there are two rings “under your dog’s chin.” Only by looking at the video carefully can I see that the correct ring is the one on which the safety strap is wound.

    How would this work if I was to use my own dog harness with Velcro on the chest?

    • @Amberus09
      @Amberus09 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have a harness for my dog but the halti is meant for on own and normal neck collar for extra safety incase dog escapes halti. I am putting the harness aside until my dog learns to walk better using halti as a tool. Thats what its for then when better trained will go back to harness.

    Makes no difference with our border collie. However I do feel I have more control when he lunges at moving vehicles.

    I need a video that shows how to make it fit, not how to put it on. She has already adjusted the thing. She doesn’t show all the trial and error involved in getting that collar strap sized correctly.

      I used a pice of string to measure my dogs nose and neck, and used that to alter the halti

    She doesnt say that you have to make sure that when they are wearing the haulti the lead has to be on the side your walking your dog. 👀

    It’s a great concept but the plastic clip is cheap and breaks so easily. We’ve got a husky cross & have given up using these after having had to buy 3 in 18 months, much better to invest in a good well designed & made figure 8 lead.

    Something very VERY important you forgot to precise: do not PULL on your dog’s neck with a Halti!!!!! All you should do is gentle tugs, nothing more!!!!! You can (literally) break your dog’s neck if you yank him with this type of collar! It’s very important to keep in mind that the wrong use of a Halti head collar can lead to serious damage to your puppy (just like the use of a flat collar…)
    It’s also very important to keep in mind that the Halti collar is not a forever use kind of tool, the Halti collar doesn’t train your dog, but helps YOU train your dog. If you don’t train your dog with positive reinforcement (treats/petting when your dog slow down with a gentle tug, etc) rather than positive punishment (yanking, saying “no!” every seconds etc…), then you won’t see any progress. Also, it’s highly recommended to get the help of a trainer who’s used to this tool to correctly use it.
    Finally, remember to switch from the Halti to the flat collar from time to time during your walk, to not make your dog frustrated and in constant working condition but also allow him to cool down.
    The use of a Halti, should not restrict your dog’s ability to sniff around, pant etc, you have to let him be a dog too, it’s important to keep in mind that you use it for work with your dog.
    Personally, with my 2 (nearly 3) years old Eurasier, I took a trainer who introduced me to this tool and the effects of it are flagrant! No more pulling and he listens way better, she said that we’ll be able to remove it and continue the training without it in a matter of weeks with how fast my dog learns, which is cool, but not the same for every dog.
    If your dog, no matter what you tried, doesn’t like it or is very uncomfortable/stressed in it, then use a anti-pulling harness instead.

    Splicing close ups with far away shots of dogs is pointless and negates the purpose of a tutorial.

    What an utter con job this is! Try putting on any border collie!! After extensive attempts I now have trained her to actually wear it without trying to take it off. Putting the lead on her sends her mental... When you post a video of traing a dog to wear it and then training it to go for a walk wearing it... then you will have a product.

      Peter Hooper Or could it be that your dog is an exceptionally difficult case? I managed to get it on my ultra-hyper Pit/Terrier mix puppy, who is only 5 months old, the very first time. It CAN be done, you just need more patience and to consider a different methodology before trashing the product as worthless.

    • @diversemix
      @diversemix 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@markpr73 I don't thinks so. She walks off lead to heal perfectly. I think border collies are just too clever to wear it. I actually now think the head collar tries to subdue a dog and take away it's free will so won't be using mine again.

    These things fuckin suck. Dog won't even walk with it, just ends up trying to chew it.
