I got one of these, love it... I also have the stainless ohio bar... I'd argue either is legit as the one bar, depending on what kind of lifts you do and how much you can actually lift.
I prefer power bar features. Thicker bar, more aggressive knurl, and center knurling for squatting. BUT I also don't do olympic lifts. I use a bare steel Ohio Power Bar.
Have been using and loving a Rogue B&R 2.0 for three years. No rust to date in non humidity controlled basement 200’ from the North Atlantic Ocean. Only now finding a limitation in grip as deadlift weight climbs and I don’t want to use straps or chaulk. Considering a rogue aggro 2X stainless as my “last” bar which should compliment the B&R nicely. If I was just starting out the rogue Ohio power bar in bare steel would be the recommendation, though the wipe downs take time from your life. Get it in stainless for that forever bar, the one and only. Funny enough Alan Thrall picked the B&R as his one and only in an Instagram post the other day. I chose wisely and didn’t know it lol. If your priorities are squat, bench, deadlift, ohp, then the Ohio power bar would be preferred. Might be a touch too aggressive for dynamic lifts however.
That BR bar is a great bar. I have a raw steel deadlift bar that's so dam aggressive my hands won't slip but once I start pulling over 450 I find straps just let me focus on the lift and less on my grip. All I do is squat, bench, deadlift and OHP and kind of go back and forth on powerbar vs regular olympic bar. My numbers aren't great however for old guy in his 40s. I've only hit a 510lb DL, 320 B, 205 OHP, 430 squat recently.
You're absolutely right! You don't need to get caught up in which bar to train on. I used one of those cheap Cap bars that came with 300lbs of plates for upwards of 20 years. I even had my best lifts on it. A few years ago I dove into the world of real barbells with B.O.S. bare naked power bar. I now have since have Rep Double Black Diamond as my go to.
I agree on the knurling. It doesn't really matter that much because your callouses will just adjust to whatever you use. I have a power bar because I like the center knurling for squats and a mixed use cross training bar without a center knurl for front squats and Olympic lifting.
I know I can do all my heavy lifts on an Olympic bar the same as a power bar in fact i’ve proven it doesn’t matter in my own programming. Newbies ask me all time what bar to buy so I made the video.
Rogue Chan bar. Stainless steel with cerakote which is overkill but cool. Matte black sleeves. Slightly more aggressive knurl than Ohio bar and a passive centre knurl which Ohio doesn’t have. Best hybrid bar in my opinion. Love it. Good to have you have with some videos as well mate 👍🏼
I have that bar. It was my “if you can only buy one bar” recommendation a few years back. Mine is raw stainless no cerakote special edition Matt Chan bar.
for sure. I get a lot of questions from new lifters on what barbell to buy. They watch all these fancy reviews and kind of get lost. A simple Rogue bar will work great.
I have used a rogue OPB stainless shaft with cerakote sleeves. Love that bar. Eventually I realized I wanted a 2nd power bar to help have multiple stations to transition quicker between exercises. Got a rep DBD stainless. Love them both. More bars equals more gains, right?
Hey man, what do you do for work? I really appreciate the garage, equipment, reviews, even the truck. If you don’t mind, do you live in the US? East, mid west? West? Seems like you’re doing well. Loved the trap bar review.
I agree with you about the knurl and have a Stainless Steel AB Power (mild knurl). Really like having the center knurl for squats. Does the Ohio bar have a center knurl option? The one you were pointing out in your video does.
The current stainless/stainless Ohio bar does NOT have center knurl. Just picked up a stainless/stainless. I know they have changed though over the years. Mine has bronze bushings, but in the past some have had composite.
The Matt Chan version of the stainless ohio bar does have center knurl that's been slightly smoothed as to not rip your t shirt. One of my favorite all time bars.
Stainless steel Rogue Ohio Power Bar.

Great bar! I own one. Just never use it.
Easily a very good bar. I have one but I use the regular Ohio bar more than anything.

You get it. The point of the video was there’s no difference in strength or gains between a powerbar or Olympic bar. I’ve proven it doesn’t matter.

@@MacStrengthCo yeah it’s a great option. Rivals a lot of others.
I have Rep Stainless steel Gladiator bar, such an underrated bar
I agree, a utility bar is sufficient for most. I like my IWF bar from Rogue, because I like Snatch and Clean & Jerk.

Finding a place to store them becomes the challenge when you get over 20! ha ha. Nice bars you got.. Love the stainless stuff.
I went for a bare steel ohio power bar because I got it from the boneyard for $150. If it wasn’t that cheap I would’ve gone for stainless steel

thanks. Check out my other channel "squarebodybuilder"
Rogue Ohio SS/SS all day. Double black diamond by REP as a second choice.
love all the stainless comments.

The Matt Chan ohio bar does have center knurl. I own that bar and its on the rack during the video. Great all around bar.

@MacStrengthCo Yes, I like that bar but the current one is Stainless steel with a ceratoke finish. Why in god's name would add a finish to SS .
Texas power bar
I have used some texas bars and need to get one in the gym.
@@MacStrengthCo The knurling is really good, more aggressive than the ohio
American barbell chewy power bar
I’ve heard nothing good about that bar. I would love to get my hands on one however.
