Nice tidy machine. It depended what I was cutting as to how I ran my strimmer, edges of lawns 1/4 throttle. Thick vegetation, full bore !

That's how I do it too. I don't have any thick stuff here so I run pretty light all the time.
I had bought a new weedeater for myself the day before I got this one and I liked it so much I returned the new one and bought a different one.

I tried out quite a few. Everything from the box store machines to the Stihl 94R, in the end, it was between the Husqvarna 525 and the Echo 225. Think about everything you liked and hated about your old one before you pick. 👍

another save; my trimmer , gasp is a Murray m2510, a stripped down Troybilt. it works starts every time. only have had to replace throttle cable, and bump head knob. and yah I feather it about 1/2 throttle also.

I have a video in the queue about "The perfect weed eater" (spoiler, it doesn't exist LOL).
I had a WalMart "Green Machine" weed eater from 2003 until... THIS SPRING. I got 20 years out of a $79 weed eater, and sold it(still running) for $40. There wasn't much left of the original weed eater, the motor and pole 🫤
When I said goodbye to my faithful weed eater I tried a LOT of different weed eaters before settling on one.

My Echo was a convertable and had the tiller, trimmer, hedge trimmer and a round blade head and is still going and I bet it's 10 years old or more. I got it when I was still working and now the son-in-law has it and all that went with it. Replaced the tank gromet and hoses but that's it. Ran TRu-fuel at the last and I always run mine not hammered except the blowers. They get wound UP but that's what they're there for. Hope to mow today. Cool but sunny. I've got a dark shirt on so that'll help. Stay cool, Wild Wrench Buddy!

They last forever of you take care of them 👍
Tru fuel is nice, but if you don't let the fuel get old, you can get away with pump gas. The trick is not letting the fuel get old.

@@GuysPlayingWithTools I got pump gas one gallon at a time and always rinsed out the Stihl mix bottle to get it ALL! I never had any trouble with it but the ethanol ate up the gromets and lines. That's when I went to Try-fuel and that madness QUIT and it was always fresh from season to season. And it didn't cost that much to get the reliability all the time. Still use it in the blowers since that's all the 2-cycle stuff I have left.

@lewiemcneely9143 I have had good luck with pump gas. Most people don't know that gas is different from one station to the next. Maybe I have a good one.

@@GuysPlayingWithTools They sure are different and you can smell the difference in the gas fumes. I keep/kept mine in an airtight container from pump right on out till it's used but I was using synthetic oil but it slobbered so much I was going back to the orange bottle but the pal at the sawmill was using Tru-fuel and he liked it a LOT so I got mine. Been here ever since. I get 4 gallons at a time and with my Army deal I get 20% off. That hurts a little less.

@lewiemcneely9143 I go through my 2 tanks in about a week, so I only have to move the fuel to the car when I am off wandering for a few weeks.

@@GuysPlayingWithTools They start ridiculously easy. I only run non ethanol fuel in all my equipment. I am so glad I decided to go with The srm225, I'm sure there's better ones out there but for my property and uses it's perfect. What really sold me is the 5 year residential warranty. I like the fact that after you fixed that trimmer you showed us it running. Keep up the great work.

The constant problems with 2 cycle tools is why battery electrics have become so popular with home owners who do their own lawn work.

    • @GuysPlayingWithTools
      @GuysPlayingWithTools  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

That is kinda true. With proper maintenance, nearly any 2 stroke is durable enough to outlive 3 or 4 battery tools but most homeowners don't know how to take care of them.
I just retired a 20 year old weedeater that cost $79 in 2003. It still ran fine, I sold it for $40.

      Why not?
The original stumble it made on the bench is pretty normal for 2 strokes when I get them, it's common for them to be flooded to no end. Once I run the gas out of the case they usually straighten up nicely.
