Thank you so much for this video. I am very much a beginner, but I retired from teaching piano and have lately started studying harp as well. This type of information is invaluable when you want to make progress with the least amount of frustration.

    Hello Jess,
I am thrilled that you keep offering these lessons! I am getting through them one by one, slowly, along with your book. I would recommend your learning videos (plus book) to anyone learning to play the hammered dulcimer.--Jill

    Hi Jess,
This video really helped on the flow of the music and hammer strokes.

    Thanks Jess ,
I have learned so much from your lessons. I bought your DVD set and instruction manual earlier this year and it gave me a great foundation to work with. The Irish jigs are what I really want to play the most. If you ever make a DVD instruction video featuring Irish jigs I’ll be your first customer.
    Cheers
    Tom

Nice video. I've been playing for many years, and while I'm still no expert, I'm thinking that I probably do this without thinking so much about it. However, I often try to play harmony notes, which might impose exceptions to the rule of thumb you've shown here (for more advanced players, that is).

Thank you for your excellent lessons. How do you work with 3 / 4 time?
