This is a stellar casual walk-through and I bought the plugin almost immediately before making it 5 minutes in, so great job on that. However after buying it, I realize that I would probably benefit form some training and there isn't much content on motion 3 (not an incredible amount for previous versions as well)... and as a noob-intermediate After Effects user, I know there is probably so much that is escaping me as far as planning and conceptualizing motion graphics projects, in terms of maximizing the potential of this plugin. I think it would take a long ass time but man it would be incredible if you could make do a deeper dive into this plugin. I realize this is asking QUITE A LOT, but holy shit this plugin is the fucking business.

This was one of the best script tutorials I've ever seen and I binge a LOT of them. You have a great tempo that's easy to keep up with, a pleasant voice and attitude, you explain things in terms anyone can understand and follow, your examples are all perfect and your entire approach is humble and accommodating to people of all levels. When you see a video like this with 545 likes and ZERO dislikes that speaks for itself. You have a new subscriber and student here. I'll be binging your channel tonight and probably all week. Thank you. I've stared at Motion 3 for months now and just kept passing it by. After this I know it's time to take the plunge. Wishing you much success!

I bought Motion years ago, and I've only ever used it for easing and elastic effects. I never spent time learning all these, and I'm stunned at the tools I didn't know I had (and all the time I could have saved!) Thank you for this video! I don't know if Mt Mograph is interested in feature requests, but I'll say here, I've always wished Motion could update it's easing sliders according to the graphs in AE when keyframes are selected, which would mean you could use it to tweak or make presets from existing animations, but it's still mind-blowing as is!

Huge thanks for this, learned a few things as a long time Motion user. I only have one thing to add, which is the actual purpose of the Warp tool! While, it's true that it performs a sort of choke matte effect, this is only a component of the effect stack it applies. It's actual purpose is sort of like the echo tool, but it leaves behind a solid trail instead of a bunch of clones. Apply it to a shape moving fast across the screen and you'll get a nice warping look ;)

"After Effects orders my layers natively - I think it does it backwards."
Layer order when you copy and paste is actually dependent on what order you selected them in, top to bottom/bottom to top. If you select all your layers from the bottom layer to the top layer, copy and paste, it will paste them in reverse order. If you select all your layers top to bottom, copy and paste, it will paste them in the order they were copied in.

ever since giving this a go it's changed a lot already in my workflow. currently doing a project where I had a DUIK rigged character, who was wearing a skirt. Had to use an array of puppet pins to create a cloth deformation feel to it as the characters legs bent....but now....I can not only use Puppet Plus I can also use the Cloth functions and it makes it way easier for me to animate the skirt as though it's interacting with the character. very cool.
