Thanks a lot for the breakdown! I loved Motion 2, and finde necessary Motion 3 for my workflow... but I feel it's a bit too much now. I'd like to know how many of those option you've used constantly.
Indeed. I find myself confused about some of the UI coming from motion 3, and have trouble for example detecting what kind of easy ease data already exists on keyframes. I find myself overwriting the keyframe data, rather than being able to come back to a keyframe and make subtle tweaks, which is pretty disruptive for me.
Update: NVM, I figured it out. You have to click on the signal icon in the Ease Graph window when some keyframes are highlighted -- then it will show the current easing data.

when i use the pin plus tool the pin's nulls gets placed way off from the puppetpins placement. anyone know how to fix this?
Really nice! Do you know if the effects will still work if co-workers that don't have the plug-in, open up a backup project made with Motion 4?
In my experience yes. Because the plug in just adds expressions to the layers, which will work independently of the plug-in being installed

Why they not added an offset Layers/Keyframes ?(( Like in Motion Tools 2
This is all very overwhelming, I guess I'll have to run myself a teaching course at some point!
i cant seem to figure out how to copy keyframes ( trimpath keyframes) to 7 other layers with the clone tool. i know you need to select the keyframes you want to copy but how do i say where to copy them to.... ( same place in time line just to the other layers)

Can animations created with these effects -- such as Burst or Orbit -- be exported as Lottie files?
They add expressions to your layers which AFAIK Lottie does not currently support. But you could bake expressions to frames and maybe that would work ?

How does one import easing libraries?
Hi! Didn't get how delay features work ^( Don't know why but layers moving from their started postions (if im try to using at this properties). But in general im want to make delay at trim paths animations - not working for me.
Can someone tell me how do i change the default null color? My preference is set correctly and I do see the three null color options in Motion 4 but I have no idea how to change it!
If I use Burst or Excite in a project, will the effect still be there on a computer that doesn't have Motion4 installed? Thanks!

@@HolmesMotion actually, I think I havent seen a single new thing. But it's quite a hassle to learn all these weird tricks. I guess the UI of AE has allot to improve on and it is allot easier to learn with this plugin.
Could you help? I'm trying to create a colour palette with brand colours - but I can't figure out how to type in hex codes. I type and hit Enter, but the colour doesn't change. Any help, rather than using colour picker? :)
I think you could just load swatch in to it and use it from there. Haven't tried yet. But using AE with cc cloud and colours just suck.. I generally hate the color picker in AE..

does this work with AE 2020? I'm considering buying without upgrading to 21 and 22 cause those at the moment seem a bit buggy
It didn't work with my AE 2020 version. Everything installed fine but when I opened the extension the panel was just blank white and it stayed like that no matter what I did. I eventually upgraded to AE 2022 and it worked fine. Maybe it will work for you but I don't think there was a problem with my pc I think it was a compatibility issue.

Yesterday I bought Motion 4. Today I accidentally deleted the easing presets. How do I get them back?
I would also like to create new easing curves. For example 90,90. But this is displayed to me as [0.9,0,0.1,1]. With this square brackets. But I want it to say 90,90. Like in your example at 0:57. How does it work?

Is there a way to make it "bounce"? - I'm thinking like a twitch alert
You could try using 'jump', keyframe the y position so it jumps up a little and bounces back down. Experiment with the max bounces etc. Then loopOut the keyframes so it repeats
Did they ditch the quick presets for curves? I have to click 3 buttons now instead of 1? Tell me I'm missing something?
Do you mean for the easing presets ?
I was spending quite a bit of time figuring this out. Why did they change it? It's less intuitive this way IMO.
Edit: According to their release notes, they'll bring back the ease presets shortcut to the home menu and adding on other features related to easing. That's cool!
@@ShafiqFaizal @Garrick Enright Do you know if they've updated this? I still have trouble smoothly using the new easing presets with motion 4 relative to motion 3. I still can't figure out how to tweak the easing data that already exists on the keyframes, rather than overwriting it.

I'm finding the easings really ropey, they don't always seem to apply and require multiple attempts, sometimes just don't apply at all... Is anyone else finding this?
Same here.. You have to click multiple times.. But the presets are such a timesaver!

Can I add multiple folders onto my Ignored files/folders? If so how, pls? I tried using commas, semi colons, spaces no spaces and now I've run out of ideas, but the field does state folderS, and the manual mentions nothing of the sort :)
Can you describe in more detail what you mean ? Can't you just rename nested subfolders to also start with 'ignore'?

The sort feature opens a tab with fields where you put the names of the folders where it should sort file types. The last input is basically asking which folders the ‘remove unused’ or ‘remove old folders’ functions should avoid: it’s another text field and it works as expected when typed in the name of one folder; but what if I want more than one folder to be ignored in the whole sorting process? I tried typing in two existing folder names and separating them with whatever code syntax I could think of, but the function breaks completely that way and the sort doesnt avoid either of them.

@@TheYahn in the last field, you don't have to type in the exact name of the folder. If you type 'cats' into that field, then ANY folder that contains the name cats won't be touched. So why dont you add cats the beginning of the folder name for the multiple folders you want to be ignored ?

I also needed to untick the "remove unused" switch to get it to actually not touch my folders, to which I have added a # to their name and am referencing them that way. Thanks a bunch!

I wish motion 4 gave us the option to turn it back to version 3... haha... Best plugin for Ae 100%... been using it since v2 I love all the features but find myself really using about 7 features non-stop and the rest almost never... Great overview though... Sometimes I forget it offers so much...

@@nedschi it updated again recently but the feature i have pinned that i use most would be "clone" for my key frame just for basic ins and outs... A lot of simple features that can be simulated with ease but clicking a button as opposed to manually doing it again again and again... Mostly organizing like sort, rename... When I work on projects with seemingly endless assets, especially when it is handed to me in a sloppy pipeline... text break... trim to keys was a new one i noticed which helps... Easing presets i have customized for quickness too... A lot of the dynamics, colour palettes etc. i never touch... Every project i work on is different but organization short cuts are my favourite... I'm aure everyone uses the extension differently... I'm away on holiday so cant name them all off the top of my head but when im back in the lab Monday I can give you more specifics...

@@nedschi im back in the lab and the tools I keep pinned are "Reverse, Null, Grab, Sort, Blend, Rename, Clone, trim, trim to keys and stagger... Blend i cant remember last time I used and trim also... But all of the others i use regularly...

Where did the BOUNCE preset go? While Motion4 looks cool on the outside, I find it over-complicated & un-intuitive , packed with unnecessary proprietary features that don't translate down to vanilla AE and missing critical functions. Why do I need to swift thru garbage features like preset comps, control timeline etc: it all can be and IS done withing the app itself! I think the dev team got lost of misguided by some stupid CEO decision here.
