Really? This isn't even a catch up to the most basic of features in Element3D yet. I'm happy that they are finally starting to implement 3D (15 years too late), but to release it in such a featureless way is so embarrassing. They should have waited until they could at least release it with some close to modern features. This would barely fly in 2010 as a feature release. I don't even know what I would use 3D in this state for.
@@michaelritchie888 We still need to consider whether it will read multichannel EXR files containing multiple render passes. I was unsure if this version does this natively. (Something Nuke has done since he was born)

I created effects in After Effects for 15 years until I finally moved to Fusion. AE is terribly slow, especially with EXR, and buggy. Fusion costs much less and it also includes Resolve, which also replaces Premiere Pro. In fusion I have plugins that are paid for AE or are not available at all. It's great that AE is still developing, but the best idea would be to throw everything in the trash and start over. Of course it should also cost much less...
Adobe Premiere 2024 has bugs. They are mainly associated with the Program Monitor window 1) It is not possible to select several mask points at once in the Program Monitor window using a rectangular selection with the mouse. 2) In the Program Monitor window, when you change the transformation Scale, Position, Rotation, Anchor point... with the mouse, the movements lag a lot and slow down, which is very annoying. 3) Key frames on the Adjustment Layer do not work and animation does not occur. The animation takes on the static value of one of the keyframes. This is especially true with third-party plugins
First of all, I really like your tutorials on LinkedIn and this channel. Do you have a tutorial here or on Linkedin Learning, which is about the use of the camera/3D camera in AE. As I would like to get better in that part of AE. Thank you.

Are there any performance differences that would make you choose to use obj models instead of glb? Or the other way around? Just curious... I model my own objects, so I could export in either format.
I have a question, i would like a video with the same content but with a window with performance, how much processor and memory it is using, why here on my machine it always consumes everything it has, it remains at 99% processor and 99% memory when I open 3d within after. Thanks very much, nice video!
Man, thank you for donating your time to share knowledge, you are a friend. That said, I have to say that AE is a bad joke when we talk about 3D. In the middle of 2024 and importing OBJ and HDRI is something new in AE? E3D has been doing this for years and even though it is outdated, it manages to be better than AE. When you use any other 3D Software, you notice that AE is lagging behind 3D. The correct thing is for Adobe to create 3D manipulation software from scratch, modern, running in GPU, with AI tools, and import some post-production tools from AE such as tracking, rotoscopy, shape layers and visual effects. Inserting 3D tools in after, which is old and runs on slow CPU previews, is a mistake in my opinion. Much wasted and little result.
Thanks for the comment. I agree with what you're saying. This is just version 1 of 3D native experience in Ae. I can only assume it will get better. You should definitely voice your great advice on the beta forum. I know Adobe is listening. I'll just mention that Ae is not a 3D app and Adobe is trying to catch up and has a long way to go. It also has 30 years of bad luck when it comes to 3D (look at 3D in Photoshop for example). So, one can only hope that (with the Substance technology) they will make the necessary adjustments and make it more efficient, modern and faster. As the song says: The road is long (a long, long road)
Let me fix Adobe's press release on this.... "The new 24.2 version of After Effects will import SOME materials not ALL materials so good luck!" It still won't import glass and other materials even from it's own Substance 3D suite. The fun part is you can import your scene and see if you win the materials lottery!

Yes, If you use a high settings the quality is good enough, but it can be slow. E3D plugin is faster and in most cases render a better image. However I'm certain the Advanced 3D Render engine will improve over time and I'm glad to see that Adobe is investing in it.
My only wish for AE 3D is that they stopped distorting the XYZ axis tool when at the edge of the cameras perspective. Like why can't it just be normal always?
Totally agree, you can workaround this by creating your own camera without distortion and use it instead of the custom ones. That's actually a great short tip tutorial idea, so watch this space....
Thanks for the review. I've exported from Blender an obj file with two materials. The model has a black outline made via the solidify modifier and Backface Culling enabled.
