    was hoping you can help me with something. I got the EleksMaker® EleksLaser- A3 Pro 2500mW Laser Engraving Machine. And i was wondering if i can replace the laser module with a 40W one? do i just replace the stock power supply with one with more amps? are the wirres from the laser always the same so i just plug in into the controller bord? been looking all over but cant find any videos about upgrading laser module that is not from the same company

    I just got the chinese laser you are talking about as a replacement laser head for the sculpfun s9 laser machine I bought before. Now the question: the old laser head has 3 pins while the electric board for the new laser has only two pins. How do I connect them?

    • @GeorgeZaharia
      @GeorgeZaharia ปีที่แล้ว

      one of the 3 pins is PWM or signal(freq)... red is + black or blue is negative or ground doesnt really matter where u stick that one ... i did a resistor 3 step assembly on some chinese laser module for a ender 3 version 1 mod, and i linked pwn to positive through some resistors to get maximum 5v on it at 100% power. and the rest through transistors to get 12v max at 100% my supply has 24v through the pins im using so thats why the need for the transistors to step down the voltage. and negative just sits on minus. but i think can go to ground as well. some people put the PWM cable before a mosfet on ur 3d printer that sends the signal to the fan but i can't see the mosfet on my board is under a sink that is glued so ... what is the point since voltage steps up as i turn the fan on with a regulator. im guessing ur laser module has same wires, PWM Plus and Minus. usually pwn if u look on ur laser module where u stick the cable should be written down on the chip above the laser if has one... if doesn't ... find it you must! PWM has different voltage from + so if u by mistake put 24v or whatever on it bye bye laser module. on my end i do need a AC to DC convertor at some point but i see at 100% power the laser stops cliking... or clicks fast enough that doesnt affect the engraving/cutting.
      in my case PWM as im using the fan for cooling the 3d parts, and since can be controled by gcode the voltage from + through transistors acts as a FQ modulator... so far 1 day in and works fine i can cut cardboard and nails... got some finger burns.
      16w 445nm module here.

    My Chinese laser module is exactly the same as this one. Would you please tell me how to properly connect it to MKS DLC board? There are TTL pins (ground and signal) and Laser+ / Laser- pins on the board. I suppose the Laser+ / Laser- pins are used as power supply purpose, so I don't need to use them because the laser module comes with an external power supply unit.

    I just got the 20W model with the laser PWM tester board and I am a little confused here. I am going to be running this off a GRBL controller that does have a PWM output and when I purchased this it said PWM and TTL. If am reading in the comments correctly, you just need to connect the yellow wire for the PWM signal, but there are two yellow wires. One is on the 4 pin connection on the laser module to the tester board but there is a second yellow wire on a 2 pin connection going to the TTL IN connection. So the question is do I have to use the PWM tester board or can I hook the module directly to my GRBL controller? If I do have to use the tester board, I assume the TTL IN connection is what needs to go back to D11 otherwise I would connect yellow wire on the laser to D11.

    • @MrMechatron92
      @MrMechatron92  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, if I'm not wrong, you need to connect laser directly to your gbrl board, however, I'm not using either gbrl board or test board so is hard to say.
