    Love your lessons. I am just editing for our church, so pretty simple--However, your lessons let me make our videos even better. Thanks. On this lesson, you touched on the "Red numbers on clip". I usually have to adjust the audio about +00.04 milliseconds(??). Is there an easier way then just grabbing audio and sliding it until the right number comes up? Any hot keys to tell it how far to move it? Thanks.

    • @JasonYadlovski
      @JasonYadlovski  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Tom, awesome, glad my videos are helpful! I don't think there is an easier way. I'd make the adjustment right after you bring your clip into the timeline before you make any cuts. That way you don't have to do it on multiple clips. I wonder if you can adjust it on the recording at all....strange that it would always be off a bit....

    Love this video! I have a question. I do wood lathe wood turning and in this genre a lot of clips are sped up. However, above about 6X the audio gets skewed. Is there a trick for this? Thanks so much!

    • @JasonYadlovski
      @JasonYadlovski  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks man! Do you need the audio or can you get rid of it and just add music or something? There is a setting that may or may not help called pitch correction. I believe it’s an option when you select the clip, right click and then choose change speed. You would see it in the window that pops up.

    • @BAILEYWOODWORKS
      @BAILEYWOODWORKS ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JasonYadlovski that may be the problem, i had not thought of that. Now it speeds up and corrects the pitch. So in effect it is just removing bits of the audio. But at 20x it is completely shifted. I may try to let the pitch shift in next video. I have had comments to not add music. People love to hear the sounds, kind of like ASMR. I actually love the sounds myself. It is satisfying. Typically I will add music toward the end when the finishing is quiet and you can hear my breathing! Lol. Thanks Jason!

    Thanks for the video! Just started using DR and had two questions about the copy/paste. Is there a way to copy and paste to another track than where you copied from? Also…if you are doing visual effects like a pop in/ pop out on text (subtitles) can you paste attributes and have the pop out at the end of the text clip? I can’t seem to figure that out.

    • @JasonYadlovski
      @JasonYadlovski  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're welcome! Yes, you can copy/paste to the track you'd like. 2 ways to do that are to turn on the Auto Track Selector for only the track you want to paste on or put the little red box around the V1, V2, V3, etc. on the track (Left of Track Name) that you want to paste to. Either should work for ya.

    Nice tips, thanks for all the info. I have a question. I shoot on 4k and mi TL is 1080, if I "zoom up" (scale up [Why BM call it zoom???]) I won't loose any quality until around 2 because it is "Cropping" or adjusting to the 100% of the resolution. Yet, If I do the same action throughout out an Adjustment clip, this clip scales up from 1080 (TL base resolution) Or take the 4k of the original clip? I have tried and I think AC degrade the quality but still it is a mystery for me...

    • @JasonYadlovski
      @JasonYadlovski  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting find. I haven't tried using an adjustment clip like that before. I would think it would be ok, but if its causing a loss of quality, then I'd just scale the clip.

  • @videolearner1
    @videolearner1 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great tips Jason. And I like the way you Blended the background music between different sections in your video. But to be honest, the only thing I didn't like was starting at point 12:20 on out, I noticed that the music seemed a bit too loud and started competing with your voice. So although the music is a nice touch, I'd suggest fading it down way low when you're talking so that it won't compete with your voice and detract from your message.

    Quick question on "voice isolation": Is there a way to make it negative, that is to suppress voices and allow the background sound to dominate the audio track? I often have a need for that when people are talking casually in the background of my videos. It seems like the purpose of voice isolation is to make the voices clearer, but I sometimes want to do the opposite.

    • @JasonYadlovski
      @JasonYadlovski  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      At this point you can do the opposite. Now it only removes the background noise, it won’t remove the voice and keep the background noise

    Jay, these are great tips, thank you! At 8:46, curiosity has struck. Which of those attributes to be pasted had to do with the "bighead?" If I'm getting anywhere in my learning, I would guess Scale x and Scale y. But how did you get that created on the source clip to begin with? Have you got a "zone-enlarge" preset from MotionArray, or create a mask zone to restrict the up-scaling to your head? Can you give me some specific tips to recreate that effect? Or a link to one of your videos that explains it? FYI, I've upgraded to the Studio version- Blackmagic and I owe you a big THANKS for explaining it! 👏💡😊

    • @JasonYadlovski
      @JasonYadlovski  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're welcome! The attributes I actually adjusted for he big head, were the scale, position, pitch and yaw. I just adjusted those items in the original, you can actually see the settings in the inspector at 8:16. It's much easier than you were thinking.

    • @jer3006
      @jer3006 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JasonYadlovski LOL! No, that's worse than what I was thinking. To understand this technique, I'm just going to have to shoot my talking head and experiment. I get the zoom 1.01X&Y being slightly larger than the original. But the position, well that depends on where 0.00 is on the frame. If it is top left then -30.0X means you are zooming a point not even on the frame. For -30X and -191Y to be on your forehead, the only place 0.00 can be is top center of the frame. How to control the diameter of the zoom? Pitch/Yaw? No, those should be directional adjustments. Maybe the zoom just fades out as it leaves the positional point. See why MotionArray preset would have been the easiest explanation for me? 🤣Probably I need to look up Transform-Zoom in the user manual too, although I haven't had much luck with the manual yet. Appreciate you, Jay, you've been much better than the manual! ⭐x5

      You can’t tell which attributes are on the clip, unless you looked through the inspector or effects or color page, but once you go to paste it on the new clip, you can select just the options that you want to apply. For example, if you only want to apply the size, only check on those boxes when you go to paste the attributes.

    You know what's sorely missing in DVR? A macro facility to record sets of editing procedures in Edit mode. There are no end of videos on how to import and use macros in Fusion mode, but there's no way to record a macro for often repeated sets of procedures that you carry out in Edit mode. I do this sort of thing all the time: cut a clip -> move one frame backwards -> cut again -> select the cut clip with the mouse -> unlink the video and audio tracks -> select only the audio track -> cut the audio track -> select the video track -> freeze frame the video track via "Change Clip Speed..." -> extend the frozen clip by the preset 15 seconds via "Change Clip Duration", but there's no way I can get Edit mode to carry out all those procedures as a macro. If there's one thing the devs at DVR need to work on, procedural macros in Edit mode is _the_ thing, because it would save so much time.
