    A beautiful example of a man looking for a way to make a difference instead of calling constantly for help from everyone around him, more people looking for ways instead of people looking for excuses ;)

    I was soooo relieved when you got that truss over the top plate! Great effort and smart work. I have not seen a drill powered winch like that one before. Looks from the comments that you built the trusses yourself too. That's awesome. Cheers!

    You are a fellow after my own heart. I don't mind teamwork, but love the challenge of getting things done alone. There is nothing I can't do without a couple clamps and these two hands. Loved the one man technique.

      I agree. I like working out how to do things without heavy machinery. Lifting trusses and beams, standing poles etc. Great fun and a challenge for the mind and body. We like to do our things with "family power." We use ropes, ramps, braces etc and do things by hand.

      As a Tomboy who grew up alone, I learned how to get things done by myself. Leverage and inclined planes, along with the power of winches, can accomplish almost anything if you think it through. The problem with getting help is that person has to be on the same wavelength as you about how it is done, or they can slow you down and/or be a safety issue.

    We raised 8-10 in a day it took 2 weeks to frame the roof with the truss building taking most of the time. I designed the trusses based on a warren truss. They did come out very solid and stiff.

      if you would have just stabbed your top up first, then walked the bottom up the latter, you could have done it in one day.... also, paying a young, capable helper on the cheap would have been much better for you and the kid could have made some money.. this was hard to watch

      What is the span between trusses along the wall?
      What is the height of the truss?
      What are the dimensions of your house?
      Thanks.

    • @BSpotBuilds
      @BSpotBuilds  7 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Truss span is 24 feet they are 24 inches on center along the wall, the center wall is 16 feet high and the outer wall is 8 feet. The house is basically 54 feet long and 40 feet wide.

    I know it may seem petty, but the thing that always gets me about some videos the lack of eye protection when working with any tool and especially power tools. Have almost lost my eyes twice if it wasn't for eye protection. Both times were simple "That could never happen to me" accidents but they did. Spanner wrench and bungee cord. Just saying.

    Pretty quality built but the thing that its resting on or how small of a lip that its resting on is nothing compared to the build of the truss itself. Its like a few inches thats its sitting on. Whatever the build of the truss was real quality i could not imagine doing all that for one truss. Thats a lot of work. The video before this this guy built every truss by hand which is real quality but its a lot of work.

  • @MrAdamNTProtester
    @MrAdamNTProtester 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    You should put a 1 X against wall at ridge portion of truss to ride up the wall easier... then a temp ledger just below top wall to rest the truss on when you remove jury rigged 'winch' just for eas & safety I know you have a strap to installed truss however better to rest on ledger while you remove winch assembly prior to lift into final position

    Так на всякий случай( перевод google). Two minutes to raise one farm with a screwdriver, in my opinion this is masochism, especially at the end of the pyramid and to raise it with your hands. It’s not easier and faster to make the woods higher and with a sling of hands, I think about ten seconds and the farm is on top. No, of course, if mechanization is for the sake of mechanization itself, and not to facilitate labor, but then of course. One and a half minutes from each beam, that’s it.

      when I tried to pull out my heat-activated adhesive-coated 16 gauge staples, it was plenty difficult.
      significantly tougher than a smooth shank nail that's not lined with adhesive, and probably nearly equivalent to a ring shank nail.
      shear strength depends on fastener quantity, no?
