The next season was a lock out short session. Giving MJ ample time to recover. However, Pippen or Rodman were unlikely to return... So without equivalent replacements... SEVEN is unlikely
Stephen A looked as if he was about to cry as the guy was debating with Jalen Rose about what if Michael Jordan won 7th championship for the Bulls is funny
iceman200 Rose first says no pippen. no 7th. Then when corrected he says, well pippen had “checked out mentally” anyway, even if he is there. Yes. Fox News Juan Williams and jalen rose could be brothers.
In the 1999 Finals, Tim Duncan was extraordinary - statistically & from the eye test. Averaging 27 & 14 on 53% shooting. David Robinson, was only great in name average 16 & 11 on 42% shooting. Making it seem as if we actually dominant. The third highest scorer was Mario Elie averaging 11 ppg lol. Your 3rd option is going to need average a little more than that to beat the totality of The Bulls. The Bulls had multiple, highly competent big men, some being 7 foot. Coaching, Far Superior Back Court, Dependable Front Court, Deeper Bench. Offensive & Defensive Superior. All the Bulls would have done is literally done nullifully David Robinson. They would've won lol.
Who is going to help MJ Score? You act like Bulls had guys to slow down TD? TD was Dropping 37/14 on Shaq brother.. Don't give me 99 Rodman. Dennis as we saw didn't care in 98. He was off wrestling in WCW blowing off the team.. Spurs were the best on Defense, and that whole run of chips was mostly about D in SA.. Pippen was shot.. He was mediocre at best Post 98, and in 98 in the finals he played terribly. Bad back and could not move.. Spurs swept the Shaq/Kobe Lakers brother in 99.. This is not the 96 Bulls... The 99 Bulls would have lost due to age, and a Hungry younger Spurs team..
BTW Sean Elliott had a poor finals but was a very good player on the Spurs. He played well in the 99 Playoffs. Elliott was a 2 time All star that had put up 20 PPG before.. He was the 3rd option not Elie on that team..
@@dbreiden83080 You're dreaming. Bulls would have won in 1999. Jordan was still the best player in the league in 1998. He led the league in scoring once again, won the MVP, won the Finals MVP, won the All-Star game MVP and was still one of the best defenders in the league. The Bulls had just won the previous 3 titles and had the best defense in the league, especially their backcourt. Can you imagine what Jordan, Pippen and Harper would do to that Spurs' backcourt and perimeter game? Players like Avery Johnson, Sean Eliott and Elie would have been totally nullified. As for Pippen and Rodman they had 1 more go left. Pippen usually averaged around 17-19 ppg in 1998 and then 14.5 ppg the next year in Houston. So he didn't regress THAT much in 1999. And this was with Houston using him as a 3rd option and trying to turn him into a spot up shooter which he never really was with the Bulls. It's probably fair to say had he stayed in Chicago, in a system he knows and with Phil and Jordan then he would have averaged more than the 14 ppg he averaged with Houston. It would have likely been around 16-17 ppg in Chicago in his comfort zone and usual role. Chicago also had lots of competent big men and big bodies to throw at Duncan and Robinson and clog up the paint. Kukoc was a 6th men of the year winner. And who knows what other pieces they may have picked up in the off season. It was also a shortened season which would be good for older teams like the Bulls and that Spurs team was the worst one of Duncan's championship winning sides. And Jordan NEVER lost finals. There was a fear factor and aura about those Bulls teams. By the 4th championship everyone KNEW it was a given the Bulls would win the finals, because they ALWAYS won the finals. Baby Duncan and out of his prime Robinson and a bunch of average Joe role players weren't gonna stop the inevitable. Jerry Krause blew up the team too soon and threw away a virtually guaranteed 7th title for nothing.
I love MJ but he wouldn't have been able to win a 7th. Scottie had back problems in 98, which I believe affected him going forward. Look at his averages in 98-99 and 99-2000. He wasn't the same. Same with Rodman - he wasn't the same beast. Only way they win is if Kukoc is given a bigger role...
4th back surgery, and a major foot surgery a season prior to that his body was failing, phil said the foot took away his lateral movement and vertical. He blew up in 99 got too big adding to much muscle..slimmed down in 00. Scottie gave whatever he had left in game 5 blazers lakers after that the tank was empty not a drop of gas could be found. Just became a coach on the floor.
The West got really good right after MJ left Chicago so it would’ve been fun to see. We all know teams struggle to find the legs and perform after three straight, especially aging squads. And the following teams to come out of the West were Duncan/Robinson in 1999 and Kobe/Shaq from 2000-2002. That is assuming for argument sake those squads still get there, and both Chicago and LAL in this fictitious world have Phil. Don’t get me wrong, Stockton and Malone were great - but they weren’t Kobe and Shaq.
Aaron9 Aaron9 that’s a ridiculous thing to say dude. The West had a team with a losing record make the playoffs I think almost every year during the 1990s in the period we are discussing. And I believe in the 1997 they had three teams with losing records get in haha. Plus the East had far more star power and better top to bottom rosters with the Bulls, Pacers, Knicks, Magic and Bucks. There’s a reason the East was a dog fight every year and then the Bulls were heavy faves at times in the Finals over teams like Seattle and Phoenix.
They would have won 7 imo, but I do not think they would have won 8 straight like everybody say's. They had the best chance in '99 to win another title due to the lockout, but it sucks they werent able to atleast try.
I don’t know if pippin ever said that he will resign or not. But if he never acknowledged it I’m assuming that he wouldn’t have come back for 99. The bulls dynasty ended the perfect way
There was a rumor Barkley might have joined the bulls on a low contract if mj came back . I think if that happened they could have still won without Rodman and pippen as long as they got a few solid role players
The answer is Yes. What was Jalen supposed to say, "No they would've beaten us again the following year." He would have lost respect from Reggie Miller and everyone on that Pacers team.
If the core returns they win it!! Got to remember it was a lockout season. Pippen would have had plenty of time to get his back healthy. Rodman was still dominant and Jordan would have been fresh going into the playoffs only playing 50 regular season games.
Jalen, I really love listening to you but you are wrong on this one. If you argue that Pip is not back in 99 you must also argue that the 99 Bulls wouldn't have Phil Jackson cause Krause wanted to fire him no matter what after 98. And due to this Michael would not be back.... so this is hypothetical anyway but you must include Pippen.
Michael was aging and getting extremely tired and tough for him physically, he use to do a lot of things and never have a break I think he was tired when u are so successful and have so many things and accomplishments, is hard, that's why he was looking for so much motivation to keep going he was an accomplished individual and what else there was nothing else just retirement
Stephen A mentioned that the Bulls wouldn't get 8 because of the Lakers. I think what he failed to realize is the possibility that Phil Jackson would've still been the Bulls coach instead of coaching the Lakers in that title run. 7 or 8 championships for the Bulls was definitely a possibility.
Why can't ESPN concentrate on more interesting debates other than who is the GOAT or if the Bulls are the greatest team of all time? Try something more intellectually stimulating like debating how many titles Chicago would win if Jordan had demanded to be paid market value for his services. Or they can try to debate how the perception of Jordan would have changed if he had been drafted by a good NBA team. Maybe they can try to debate how great or not Kobe would have been if he had gone to Charlotte and become the instant star player instead of an understudy for two years with the Lakers. ESPN needs to get out of the staleness of putting Jordan on a pedestal that no one can reach and come with some interesting basketball scenarios. They could also discuss if the NBA did not try to bring in more players from Europe to make the league look whiter would the NBA exposure been more or less successful? The impact of players like Drazen Petrovic and Toni Kukoc is never really discussed on how they made NBA basketball attractive to the white majority. It's all part of league history from barely surviving to mega contracts that the NBA can now pay. Jordan making 50 million a season just from basketball in today's era would not be overpriced. ESPN has a lot of things to talk about with basketball but will not.
They were not going to beat that Spurs team. They had no answer for Malone with Rodman out there. Imagine Duncan and Robinson. They would have lost. That would have been the official passing of the torch.
Honestly i think they are good with 6 and agree with Rose MJ could have had a straight 8 championships had he not stepped away after 93 but after 98? Nah man i don't see it
Idk about 8 straight that rockets team from 93-95 was crazy good. Especially after they got Clyde in 94. Bulls probably could have 4 peated but I think that 95 rockets team takes them.

That spurs team could give the Warriors a run for their money, don't act like they weren't good. Duncan was productive till 2016, Ginobili was productive till 2018, Kawhi was a break out player
David Robinson was slowing down at that point only averaging 15 a game. That first champion Spurs team wasn't that good. They beat a 8th seed Knicks team that got there because of suspension. The Miami Heat would have destroyed the Spurs. That Heat team had too much depth. @@METALFACEDOOM441 Spurs were far better in 99 than the Jazz in 98. Duncan after his rookie year was now an MVP level player.. The last words of MJ in the Last Dance Episode 10 he said he just want the Chicago Bulls Franchise to be respected like the Phildelphia 76ers Boston Celtics and the LA Lakers.... MJ left out the Detroit Piston's of the 1980s who won 2 titles. Until this day MJ still carry a grudge against Isiah Thomas Detroit Pistons. I know Isiah Thomas notice the exclusion of his Detroit Piston on that MJ Quote. MJ also have a good relationship against Magic Bird Barkley Drexler Miller Payton Stockton and Malone after the playoff series against them. But with Isiah Thomas it is different. While Magic Johnson is right when he said MJ became the GOAT because of Isiah Thomas Detroit Pistons. We will not see the MJ in the 1990s without his competition against the Detroit Piston. This I believe as a fact. This is just a guess but MJ did not respect the Detroit Piston because they physically hurt him in the Eastern Finals against the Detroit Piston in the the late 1980s. Barkley was even surprised on how MJ survived against the Detroit Piston. The 1991 walkout of Isiah Thomas Detroit Piston probably also plays a big part on why MJ do not respect Isiah Thomas Piston. Isiah Thomas lack of sportsmanship. Later Isiah Thomas payed for that mistake because he was left out in the 1992 Dream Team.

Michael was already known as the best player in history at the time and still had some left in the tank.. Most people believe that Michael could have won another one. Just comes down to Jalen not achieving anything.
Now Jalen you of all people know when MJ made a statement of what he was gonna to do he did it!
Maybe get Pip to be a guest on the show and ask him if he would have stayed for one more year? We all want too hear from him, now that the docu. is finished.
“I’ma put an exclamation point on the end of this question....”
Why not? I mean if you got MJ...anything is possible. MJ/Pippen vs Duncan/Robinson would of been very interesting
Bulls would've beaten Pacers or Knicks to get to the finals. The finals against Spurs would've been tough but I still pick Bulls in that series.
Have another drink, Jalen!
If Scottie comes back which I believe he would’ve no one beats them in a strike shortened 99 season. After that I agree with Steven A.
The next season was a lock out short session. Giving MJ ample time to recover. However, Pippen or Rodman were unlikely to return... So without equivalent replacements... SEVEN is unlikely
whos going to guard a young prime duncan? . rodman was almost 40 by that time ; he would have been food for duncan and robinson
Stephen A looked as if he was about to cry as the guy was debating with Jalen Rose about what if Michael Jordan won 7th championship for the Bulls is funny
If you haven't seen the documentary you're missing something special!!😎
Jalen, Let that hurt go bruh
He deserved a chance to defend his title
How would the Bulls check David Robinson and Tim Duncan?
“Jalen kellerman” that’s a fitting name😂😂😂
if the bull offered scottie a 1 year 20 million dollar conract, he would've returned for another year
Jalen Rose. The Juan Williams of ESPN
is that the guy on fox news?
iceman200 Rose first says no pippen. no 7th. Then when corrected he says, well pippen had “checked out mentally” anyway, even if he is there. Yes. Fox News Juan Williams and jalen rose could be brothers.
The lockout shortened season will favor the old bulls gunning for seventh assuming the team stayed
Jalen so salty he forgot the question all in his chest . MJ all day!!! 💯💯💯💯
Jordan wanted to continue. Such a shame they didn't give him that chance.
Jalen 😂 WOW.
1999 could be there most easiest run, remember steve kerr was a spur and remove him to that roster and back to the bulls
doubtful. Duncan & robinson could eat them

1998 WCSF: Jazz vs Spurs ( 4-1 )
Spurs:
Tim Duncan ( age 21 ) - All-star 1998,
David Robinson - All-star 1998,
I think they would have gotten seven with the short season in 99
If Pippen had gone but Jordan, Jackson and the rest stayed for one more year who would they have brought in for Pippen? McGrady?
People me joking with Stephen A smith and he just be sitting there with a straight face💀
I don’t know if pippin ever said that he will resign or not. But if he never acknowledged it I’m assuming that he wouldn’t have come back for 99. The bulls dynasty ended the perfect way
Rest In Peace GiGi and Black Mamba.
jalen is just made that SAS roasts Molly on the daily
To be honest I don’t think the Bulls could beat the Pacers or the Spurs in ‘99
There was a rumor Barkley might have joined the bulls on a low contract if mj came back . I think if that happened they could have still won without Rodman and pippen as long as they got a few solid role players
If the 8th seeded Knicks can beat the Pacers in 1999 so can the Bulls. They could probably win against the Spurs but it's more of a 50% chance.
The answer is Yes. What was Jalen supposed to say, "No they would've beaten us again the following year." He would have lost respect from Reggie Miller and everyone on that Pacers team.
It is difficult bulls to go for 7th . First of all who players from Bull's 1998 roster will be at 1999 team.
If the core returns they win it!! Got to remember it was a lockout season. Pippen would have had plenty of time to get his back healthy. Rodman was still dominant and Jordan would have been fresh going into the playoffs only playing 50 regular season games.
If Jordan didn’t retire to go play baseball , then retire after the 98 title it’s hard to say he wouldn’t have 8-9 championships .
Jalen is half right and half salty about getting eliminated in game 7.
SAS been around the NBA forever and all his predictions are wrong... that's amazing
The following season was only 50 games so that would have helped the Bulls and Jordan
“Jalen Kellerman” 😂😂 idk who that is more disrespectful to Max or Jalen
Y'all don't think you're going overboard with EVERY video being about MJ? I'm considering unsubbing until sports come back
Without scotty pippen they were done
Stephen A mentioned that the Bulls wouldn't get 8 because of the Lakers. I think what he failed to realize is the possibility that Phil Jackson would've still been the Bulls coach instead of coaching the Lakers in that title run. 7 or 8 championships for the Bulls was definitely a possibility.
Definitely not
If you saw the last dance you'd know that
They were running on empty
all kudos to jalen for being purposefully obtuse...........the lords work
Why can't ESPN concentrate on more interesting debates other than who is the GOAT or if the Bulls are the greatest team of all time?
Maybe Latrell spreewell would’ve taken the role for Scottie pippen
Jalen already said the Bulls should’ve won 9 strait if Jordan didn’t retire and they didn’t break up!
I'm with Stephen A on this one. They would have gotten a 7. Jalen was wrong. Without Pippen, there will be no Bulls.
Bulls would've made it to the Finals. The Spurs woulda been a tough out tho.
this is WAY too personal for Jalen to be objective. Seriously.
Lebron twice lost in the Nba Finals to teams with one star player.
2014 Nba Finals.
Spurs:
Tony Parker was the only star player in his team.
Tim Duncan ( age 37 ), Manu ( age 36 ), Kawhi ( age 22 ).
2011 Nba Finals.
Mavs: 32-years-old Dirk Nowitzki was the only star player in his team.
Miami Heat:
Lebron James - All-star 2011/2014,
Dwyane Wade - All-star 2011/2014,
Chris Bosh - All-star 2011/2014,
Ray Allen ( age 38 ).
That spurs team could give the Warriors a run for their money, don't act like they weren't good. Duncan was productive till 2016, Ginobili was productive till 2018, Kawhi was a break out player
@@shasankamadduri1998 Tim Duncan and Manu both have passed in their Prime.
Kawhi was not even a star in 2014, he scored an average of 12 points.
Did Pacers, who was #1 seed in 99 season, lost to 8 seed Knicks?
Pacers lost to 8th seed Knicks without Ewing. Jalen could not handle Allan Houston.
The indiana pacers couldn't get past the knicks when Jordan took a break 🤔
the Spurs with Tim Duncan and David Robinson? man idk lol would've been tough
1998 WSCF: Jazz vs Spurs ( 4-1 )
Spurs:
Tim Duncan ( age 21 ) - All-star 1998,
David Robinson - All-star 1998,
Allan Houston 1998-1999 season, the year the spurs won the championship now scram
David Robinson was slowing down at that point only averaging 15 a game. That first champion Spurs team wasn't that good. They beat a 8th seed Knicks team that got there because of suspension. The Miami Heat would have destroyed the Spurs. That Heat team had too much depth. Mourning, Hardaway, Majerle, Mashburn, Voshon Lenard, PJ Brown, Terry Mills, Terry Porter, Keith Adkins, Weatherspoon, Rex Walters, and Blue Edwards just to name a few.
Spurs win that series.. They had a dominant defensive team and rolled 15-2 in the playoffs..
@@METALFACEDOOM441
Spurs were far better in 99 than the Jazz in 98. Duncan after his rookie year was now an MVP level player.. Spurs beat the the Jazz in 2 critical Reg season games down the stretch run with Duncan balling. The 99 Spurs started slow at 7-8. Then they went 30-5 the rest of the way, and 15-2 in the playoffs. That's 45-7 overall. They swept the Shaq/Kobe Lakers, and the Blazers in the playoffs.. Also Jordan would have been all alone. Pippen was finished as an elite player. You saw it last night with the bad back. And he never made another all star team again. He was not even an all star in 98...
Shannon says he won... with Green Bay’s Brett Farve and John Elway Broncos
They ended up arguing about a whole other topic
Bulls never would have won 7 ? Jalen must’ve forgotten that they lost to the Knicks that year. Bulls would never lose to the Knicks by default. And I don’t see a young Tim Duncan dominating MJ either, with or without Pippen.
@mdk When Rodman was winning 3 titles with the Bulls, Luc Longley was their center. They took turns guarding the Bigs. Longley and Rodman took turns guarding prime Shaq and Lonzo. David Robinson would not have been a problem.
