I'm hoping that this motivates the league today to play harder and with more passion. I'm tired if seeing 135 point games with wide open 3's and open "Globetrotter" lanes.
Correct, these commentators today don't do any research. 2000s are the roughest decade sinces early 1970s, this rule changes narrative started one year after Lebron james came in the lead 2004-5 league why in 2003-4 The defensive efficiency rating was the best since 1976 102.5 very important stat field goal percentage was as low as the 70s 43.9 and points as well 93.4. Also Pace 90.0 per 100 possessions. 2000s also lead in blocks and the 3 second violation and zone defense was add after that actually offset the hand checking rule. In 2010 to 2014 the league's defensive efficiency rating was better than the 1990s as well, until 2018 the Pace of the game changes, no like the ridiculous Pace of when Michael Jordan walked into the 103.5 vs 100.2 today. Fans need to do better research before we attempt to use fallacious hyperbole as a narrative.
@@anthonyanderson9303 That's true, but a good defender can strip the ball or get a clean block regardless of rule changes...the passion just has to be there...I use to tell young kids when I coached, "offense takes practice and talent... defense takes practice and passion"....and defense wins championships.
Not really, maybe after 100 years or 200, maybe there will be another or greater than Jordan, but believe me it is not Lebron, LBJ could be on top 5 but not the GOAT.

Here's what The Last Dance gave us - Management underpaid their players - Bulls were nobodies before Jordan arrived - Jordan light up the league with his greatness, but couldn't capture a 🏆 yet - Jordan matured and nobody could stop him at his peak - Tragedy happen to Jordan the main character and Bulls moved on - A spark rejuvenated Jordan's love for 🏀 and he came back - Jordan's tactics as a leader were brought into light, but he wanted to bring the best out of his teammates potential - Jordan's game evolved from having one of the greatest mid-range shooting the game has ever seen - Jordan overcame tough obstacles to become the 🐐 In conclusion, Jordan had a strong work ethic to become the best he can be. He was a flawed character in some peoples' eyes, but still won. Tragedy struck and had to leave the game. Came back and nobody could stop him except retirements🏀🏆🐐

I felt like a kid on Christmas every Monday morning I woke up at 6 AM so I could watch the episode as soon as possible, Breaking Bad was the last thing on screen that did that to me. Now that's what a good documentary or TV show does, that you can't wait till the next episode airs ! Best thing on TV I've watched since Breaking Bad, and that is saying something.
Us Chicago area people age 35 and older were so blessed during the 90’s. We can relate to this documentary the most! Thank you MJ for putting Chicago on the map!
Watching this made me realize that players nowadays don't have that drive except for a few to get that ring. They need load management to get through the season while mj played 44 min when he was sick
Agreed. Aside from Kobe nobody has that nasty, insane, I-cant-believe-you-just-said-that attitude and drive. MJ and Kobe were maniacs on the court and with the drive to win. And for both to stay with one team until retirement speaks volumes.
There’s a few with the Jordan mentality, for sure money has ruined much of it, but you will miss on the next MJ if you’re not watching, but I do understand where y’all coming from
It makes us proud being from The Windy City that MJ and Co in the 90’s dominated the world of basketball... watching and reliving those wonderful years was chilling and emotional! Sadly I doubt in our life time or even next we will see someone as great as MJ and I’m glad those who never seen him play or weren’t even born yet got to see a glimpse of our Chicago Bulls Dynasty! A lot of cities Hated the Bulls for basically beating them! But one thing is for sure the love that MJ has the respect that MJ has is Universal and in the game of Basketball 🏀 MJ is above them ALL
Majority knew that earth is globe... like Jordan as the goat.... But there are some people who cherry pick data and claims the earth is flat... like Bron as the goat..
I'm from the UK and grew up hearing about MJ or catching a glance in magazines or on international news on cable. Then basketball came to C4 and I'd record every game. This documentary was brilliant I want to watch it again, this was pure hunger, drive and killer instinct to be the best but also he wanted his teammates to be the best they could be. As he got older he realised that if he could rely on on his teammates when the moment came, they'd deliver. I love the fact everytime someone crossed him on the court, that was pure motivation for him to excel even more.
There's always gonna be a debate because, people are going to say Kobe did that Jordan didn't, or Kareem did this, or Bron did this. This debate won't end

Ready Player One came out in 2018. I saw it when I still had MoviePass. Directed by Steven Spielberg. The story is in the 2040s but so many late-70s/80s references! It's like the content from those decades will never ever die.
Indeed, That's what I've told people, but I think what people get at is the competition MJ faced. MJ faced guys who were traditional where Centers were under the basket and such. Bron, however he's in an era where Centers can literally everything. So, the issue here that tons of people are gonna say, Jordan didn't truly face anybody, because I think he faced a different team every year he went, meanwhile Bron 7 of his nine trips were against the Spurs and the Warriors all of which were Squads were he wasn't the favorite
MJ is the goat and better than Lebron. But please don’t act as if MJ’s finals opponents were anywhere near as tough as lebron’s. We just saw UTAH score 54 in a finals game. The warriors score that easily in a half.

That documentary was amazing. It was great to see what kind of person Michael Jordan is and why he is a true GOAT not only i basketball but also in sports history in general. I remember absolutely despising Jordan and Bulls growing up. I was so resentful about them defeating Magic and my beloved Lakers in '91. It didn't stop me from being part of the Jordan fan club, or having his posters all over my room, though (the teenage years were confusing, you know?) I always wanted someone to pay him back for the Lakers. I was sick all the talk of him being the GOAT. I knew he was the GOAT, but I didn't want it to be so. But, this documentary, which is probably the best I've ever seen, really changed everything. How could someone watch this, and not root for this man; this team? I really appreciate what you have done, ESPN. I was hooked every moment. I truly believe everyone should watch it, whether they care about basketball or not. If nothing more, learn about the mindset of these larger-than-life icons. Every chance you get, whether you love or hate them, take time to listen to the words of these incredibly rare people to understand true motivation; the ability to transcend any goal, regardless of the odds.
I would like to say that I am not a sports person but I believe The Last Dance was the best sports documentary I have ever seen. I was glued to every segment and could have watched many more.

When MJ stole the ball from Malone and came down the court and scored the gaming winning pose shot to win his 6 finals, all within 6 game, it solidified him as the Greatest Of All Time GOAT. It was speculated before that, but it was a certainty at that moment forever.
With his era, competitiveness and more over the leadership He had those moments, He could have won all NBA championships from 1991 throughout 1998. GOAT is for me, the love we have for basketball worldwide. And thanks MJ for that.
IM 21 and have grown up only with LeBron. Im a heat fan and for the longest time I truly believed he was the true GOAT. After watching this series I can easily say MJ is a breed of his own. there isn't a debate as to who the best is to me anymore MJ is a different breed
best ending of any sports documentaries: a young athlete that just made it to the pro, talking about wanting respect and achieving success. Then the scene shifts to his present self with a cigar in hand walking away with a swag of an OG.
It’s incredible to reflect on his level of fame WITHOUT social media. I think he was bigger then, without social media, than anyone today who has social media! That in itself is pretty incredible.
I've been fortunate to watch Jordan, Kobe, and Lebron. It's rather insulting people constantly comparing Lebron to the goat Jordan. Not even close, Jordan had that gene that very few have in sports.

The Utah Jazz has left the chat.
The thing that stood out to me the most is when MJ just went up to coach Larry Bird and cussed the man out
Then on top of that he says work on ur golf game 😆
They are friends but that was funny. Also when he told Tex I am going to slide another ring on your finger tonight, that's all you need to be concerned about. Lmbo
That was a term of endearment . Not confrontational at all. He respected Larry .
They go way back and respected each other... that’s why he could talk to him in that way. Love it!
@@JohnB-uz7uo Straight from the playground ain't it
Didn't want it to end!! This docu is 🔥🔥🔥
I'm hoping that this motivates the league today to play harder and with more passion. I'm tired if seeing 135 point games with wide open 3's and open "Globetrotter" lanes.
Z Moe haha especially with their sky high salaries
Unfortunately with the rule changes they've made thats the league going forward. They want more scoring and less defense.
@Two Three I'm to old now homie...but I wish I could.
@@anthonyanderson9303 That's true, but a good defender can strip the ball or get a clean block regardless of rule changes...the passion just has to be there...I use to tell young kids when I coached, "offense takes practice and talent... defense takes practice and passion"....and defense wins championships.
That documentary could've went on forever really to be honest it wasn't enough!
DId you notice it said the Last Dance SEASON 1?? Is there going to be a SEASON 2,3 ??
MJ was GOAT before this documentary now he’s GOATE Greatest Of All Time Ever!
Doesnt GOAT “greatest of all time” speak for itself? Why throw in the extra “ever” lol 😂

@@chrisbeach423 lol 😏😉 we all know that...
Not really, maybe after 100 years or 200, maybe there will be another or greater than Jordan, but believe me it is not Lebron, LBJ could be on top 5 but not the GOAT.

They really tried to take Jordan out the game with Food poisoning smh
5 guys to deliver one pizza. Yeah, something was up. His friends should've eaten the pizza first to check if it was alright.
@Jigga Man major facts
Utah, what do you expect. Lol only black person that should be living in Utah are Utah Jazz players
I highly doubt that. I'm pretty sure that was dramatized. Intentionally poisoning someones food is a criminal offense, not to mention that pizza parlor would lose a good amount of their business.

It was as better than last year at this time n watching game of thrones.. it was awful
Here's what The Last Dance gave us
- Management underpaid their players
- Bulls were nobodies before Jordan arrived
- Jordan light up the league with his greatness, but couldn't capture a 🏆 yet
- Jordan matured and nobody could stop him at his peak
- Tragedy happen to Jordan the main character and Bulls moved on
- A spark rejuvenated Jordan's love for 🏀 and he came back
- Jordan's tactics as a leader were brought into light, but he wanted to bring the best out of his teammates potential
- Jordan's game evolved from having one of the greatest mid-range shooting the game has ever seen
- Jordan overcame tough obstacles to become the 🐐
In conclusion, Jordan had a strong work ethic to become the best he can be. He was a flawed character in some peoples' eyes, but still won. Tragedy struck and had to leave the game. Came back and nobody could stop him except retirements🏀🏆🐐
We must’ve not watched the same series
@Marcus Schultz You didn't make a point.
@Marcus Schultz any team is beatable with just 1 good player
Always that 1 dope head who staggers into the comments.
Marcus Schultz the bulls made it to the playoffs before pippin and played the celticss what are you talking about. Before Jordan even came the bulls never even had a winning record
I never saw Secretariat, Seattle Slew, Affirmed, and Spectacular Bid race. I wasn't alive yet. But I know what icons they were in racing. I know how legendary Lucille Ball is. You don't have to be in a certain generation to see greatness.
I lived in the Chicago area during these championship seasons. It was as epic and exciting as the documentary portrayed. They never lost a Finals, never made us experience that pain. Once in a lifetime stuff.
Couldn’t have agreed more! It was a time to live in the Chicagoland area during this time, watching this great team.
I was a kid at the time. It was magical to watch and experience
Even when max isn’t wrong, Stephen a manages to make it sound like he is
Stephen a is max boss. Max have to agree with Stephen A. Stephen A isn't right all the time. Stephen A pay the cost to be the boss. I can't do Stephen A. These are his thoughts only.
Olda Lewis at some point it gets played though. Max basically said the same thing that Stephen A said and he still disagreed lol
Stephen A Smith: I've known Jordan for a long time, and this is why he's the GOAT.
Unbelievable series. Not long enough series, and the Greatest competitor I've ever seen and he is undoubtedly the Greatest ever to lace them.
Reinsdorf still has a reputation of being cheap it's the reason ths bulls and sox didnt compete for years sox are lucky the landed big pieces in trades that will finally compete wherever the season starts
Reinsdorf business model is obsolete. Rick Hahn is doing something different on the Sox. Thank God! Let's see what happens with the Bulls.
Moet Chandon there will never be another Chicago Bulls
@@scuppo I hope you're wrong. Reinsdorf is no longer running the bulls. His son is. His son hired a new GM with better rapport with players that happens to be black. He's going with the Sixers process because the Bulls are cheap. The Bulls have a solid core. They need solid role players and coaching to be competitive again.
Jordan says what the reality was at the end of the doc
then yes your name is stupid and your comment made no sense start over after winning 3 straight championship delete your account and never talk basketball again
When he shot that final shot in Utah, it was an equivalent of thanos getting his sixth stone. lmao
I felt like a kid on Christmas every Monday morning I woke up at 6 AM so I could watch the episode as soon as possible,
Breaking Bad was the last thing on screen that did that to me. Now that's what a good documentary or TV show does,
that you can't wait till the next episode airs !
Best thing on TV I've watched since Breaking Bad, and that is saying something.
Breaking bad is my #1 tv show ever better than last dance. I still enjoyed last dance because of MJ though.
There’s a few with the Jordan mentality, for sure money has ruined much of it, but you will miss on the next MJ if you’re not watching, but I do understand where y’all coming from
@@eddiebrock9183 the only team after the bulls era that I enjoyed was with lakers of shaq and kobe and spurs of duncan, parker and Ginobili.
Amazing documentary, I’m a jazz fan and it hurt to relive those finals but come on, Jordan sheesh. He was to unstoppable.
I never wanted it to end!!!
But one thing is for sure the love that MJ has the respect that MJ has is Universal and in the game of Basketball 🏀 MJ is above them ALL
This documentary help Jay realize, Jordan really is the GOAT😂
Made everybody change their minds
@Greg A It is not debatable at all.
EBHS00 not everybody the majority knew Jordan's the Goat

@El Dio I meant to say reinforced but very true
All these guys mj faced were monsters in their own right. I never thought ewing, barkley and malone were that beasts!! Heck even penny was so good back then. Shaq as well
3:00 Keep in mind Max the Lakers were there because of Phil Jackson. If he's still coaching the Bulls, the Lakers would have still been nowhere close to championship contenders because they didn't know how to share the basketball.
agree.. the mastermind was there..
Good point
Excellent point
The triangle was brilliant, phil did so much for the teams he coached.
Ready Player One came out in 2018. I saw it when I still had MoviePass. Directed by Steven Spielberg. The story is in the 2040s but so many late-70s/80s references! It's like the content from those decades will never ever die.
This documentary just proved that MJ is The Greatest Of All Time! 👑
That play vs the Celtics the between the legs dribble is so sick. MJ23 is the goat, by far. Period.
To all the people saying that MJ never beat a 73 -9 team and never faced a dynasty, that’s because he was 72-10 and he was the dynasty
@@eldio2124 Jordan has beaten the most 60 win teams in nba history inthe playoffs
@@eldio2124 but don't act like lebron didn't have an easier road to the finals. If he played in the west all those years he made the finals. He doesn't make it to the finals all those years in a row.
Greatest sports doc ever. MJ is the GOAT. We knew it back in the day. Now its being brought to light for those didnt get to see him back in the day.
I really don't know how other sports docs will follow this one up? I doubt it will be topped. Like I know a Kobe doc might be next but his death still hurts. I can't even watch him spending time with his kids without shedding tears!
That documentary was amazing. It was great to see what kind of person Michael Jordan is and why he is a true GOAT not only i basketball but also in sports history in general. I think that documentary was especially great for younger audiance who didn't have a chance to see MJ and the Bulls play and didn't see how different and much tougher NBA was back in a day.
This documentary proved MJ was the goat.
Ur right but used the wrong word...was is past tense making room for a successor...micheal IS still currently the Goat! Young bucks were only fooled & fueled by the fanboy media = kd was right 🤣🤣🤣
I remember absolutely despising Jordan and Bulls growing up.
Last Dance was one of the greatest documentary because it answered a lot of questions we all had back then. 💪💪💪👌👌👌🙌🙌

This documentary is the best out there perfect for current former or future NBA fans
When MJ stole the ball from Malone and came down the court and scored the gaming winning pose shot to win his 6 finals, all within 6 game, it solidified him as the Greatest Of All Time GOAT. It was speculated before that, but it was a certainty at that moment forever.

summary - NO BIRTH WITHOUT PAIN 🏀🏀
best ending of any sports documentaries: a young athlete that just made it to the pro, talking about wanting respect and achieving success. Then the scene shifts to his present self with a cigar in hand walking away with a swag of an OG.
It’s a strange thing , the franchise owner killing his own franchise. Or sat back as it was being dismantled.
The Last Dance & Hoop Dreams are the two greatest sports documentary’s ever, that era was magical.
Next doc idea: it wasn't me directed by Delonte West.
