My parents were also heavy indoors windows closed smokers and in elementary school this older douche bag started calling me cigar because it rhymed with my last name or sometimes just ashtray. Karma got him tho. He wound up being a make a wish kid and I feel no guilt talking shit becuz he miraculously recovered. Tho he is a junkie now but alive none the less lmao

To echo a lot of the other comments, please.. please make these episodes like an hour long. I feel like there are so many untapped stories to be told. Love you Sickler, one of the best podcasts (plus Honeydew, Honeydew with yall) in the game.
Best stories - I can relate to every one of these… man great times
I don't sleep on a waterbed anymore. But my parents got me one when i was young - maybe 2nd grade - and i slept on it till i graduated. I had the "waveless' style. My parents got one too. Numerous childhood friends and/or their parents had them in the neighborhood i grew up in. I guess they were popular late 70s, early-mid 80s. There was 2 or 3 big huge warehouse style outlet places for waterbeds near the mall, and commercials for those stores aired on TV all the time, plus newspaper ads.
They were cool for wintertime b/c of the heat pads in them. Crank that heat up as high as it'd go and get cozy on really cold winter nights. Plus, when sick, like a chest cold. put on the menthol vapor rub all over your chest/neck and crank the heat up and bury yourself in covers and just sweat like crazy while asleep. Knock that cold right out of you.
Damn, now i'll have to look up waterbeds for sale. Lolz - nah, i'm good. Part of me thinks the reason my back has been so bad since a young adult is b/c it probably didn't develop correctly growing up. No support. Just floating on a big rubber pad of water.

Haha, the remote story reminded me of controlling the classroom tvs with my RadioShack remote. That sure was fun over the years…Especially when there was substitutes….hahaha. Man I miss being a youth.

My Dad in his 60's still sleeps on a water bed and has NO intention of getting rid of it. And yes they still make new beds/bags for them haha.

My cousins and I would do the same thing with the bats except for would use a sock with batteries like a dumbass. We'd be up at camp right at dark. We're still late out there. Street light. Kind of thing. We threw the sock with batteries up as close as you can without like hitting yourselves and you lay down on a little slanted Hill and the saw can come down. It was somewhere close to us in the bat would fly down and right above your face. It was crazy

Someday I'll realize Chad Daniels and Dan Cummins are different people. I confuse them so often and never learn. I saw this for today and thought it was giving me the same one from two weeks ago. That happened recently on two other shows I watch, plus I was looking for a specific joke and I actually watched the wrong person's special searching for it. Not gonna lie, I worded that last part specifically that way because I don't remember which one of them told the joke

I was so uncomfortable in my waterbed, that I would sleep on the floor, Rather then the bed. Hated that thing. And my parents made me keep it for 3 years.

Navy blue and black is almost my entire wardrobe with a bit of gray mixed in. The shoes are the only place that get weird, they're currently hot pink and black

we couldn't afford HBO, but my dad and his brothers had been doing "electronics" since they were kids so they made descramblers.
I used to sneak out to go hang out with Texas Honkytonkers. Willie Nelson, Firebacher, Doc Roy Leeds, Bucky Meadows. In Cottonwood Texas. Where my friends, the Heflins. Would have jam sessions. I was in charge of babysitting P.J. A Shihtzu.
Man, I had a friend live with me for 6 months back in 1991. It was a one bedroom apartment and we both had queen water beds. We set up both beds in the same room, it was crammed in there. This was the 2nd floor. Still can't believe we were that stupid. Amazing the floor didn't collapse.
Thanks for the laughs guys! Here's a story...my brother and I were about 7 and 5 and watched Psycho...back in the 60s with my mom. It was time for bed and we walked up the dark staircase. My mother in the hallway, was sitting on a chair with a blanket around her rocking. Well, you never saw two kids scream and run like us! So funny now but I always hated going up those stairs at night !

22:09 I owned a 91 with original rims. Same color. That car was so bad I had to find a hill to park at just so I can pop the clutch when starting it. If not, you’ll see me outside the car with the door open pushing that down the block and jumping in the car. Met my wife with that car 😆 she’s a keeper for sure.
I'm only 39 but I was definitely that kid that stunk like cigs and had Spice channel and my first car was an 85 Honda civic. This podcast is like memory lane, I love it!

I remember scaring my little brother with an Aliens toy that had 3 hook fingers on each arm, like a droopy E shape, and he had a shirt on that had a hole in the back. I caught one of the claws in the hole and yelled something along the lines of "there's an alien on your back", and he started running and crying and the running was making the alien hit the back of his head constantly and thought his life was DONE lol
Talk about deja vu! When Ryan talked about the tennis ball and bat flying at it I remembered throwing a tennis ball around in the summer and the same thing. The bat kept trying to fly after it. 👍

I'm 27 years old and my mother slept in a water bed up until 3 years ago. And she had it before my older brother was born.
I slept on a waterbed until I was 26. Probably why my back is all kinds of fucked up.
The first time my family went to a drive in movie theater. I was 7, my sister was 6, my little brother was 5.
The movie was “Porky’s”. This was way before we had cable, or internet trailers.
So my parents had zero idea how filthy it was.
As soon as the scene of the naked boys in Cherry Forever’s whore house prank. Came on screen. I covered my sister’s eyes. My stepdad was laughing, but my mom was mad. We immediately packed up, and left.
5 minutes in Ryan won’t let Chad talk but Chad talking is the whole reason I turned it on…..

Holy 💩 im 36 and remeber those boxes. I could never get my parents to get one. We had one friend with it and every now and then it would get re scrambled and u would have to get a new code or box😂 damn im getting old. I even remember when we first got cable, u would take the cable wire out from the back of the box and screw it right into the back of the tv and u would get that one scrambled pron channel😂😂 it would be a little peak here and there of something but never the full thing. It was all different colors and u really had to pay attention to catch that little glimpse. The good old days 😂

@ryansickler #waterbed. Ok so when I was a little kid my parents had the no waves really nice one. Had like shelves with nice glass shelves doors. Anyway my dad drank a lot he was Vietnam vet was really messed up mentally. Well I guess u used to have to change out the water on them for some reason. My dad was doing that and had drained it and started filling it back up well he was drinking that whole time. It takes a while to drain them so he's pretty lit by the time he's putting water back in it. The no waves beds didn't move much when they were full bc the bag u slept on was a lot thicker than a normal waterbed. Well he passed out while filling it. I woke up and he was passed out on the couch. So he jumps up and runs to the bedroom and I follow. I shit u not the waterbed was 2 inches from the ceiling. It looked like a giant hot water bottle that was overfilled. Amazingly it didn't burst. Well he starts to syphon the water out of it to try and get it back to normal as it was releasing the water. An idk if it was the pressure or what but it ended up exploding. It damn near put the headboard through the wall and it was an exterior wall. Water was everywhere. My mom worked 3rds. So when she got home it was a fuckin shit show. She loved that bed. They fought it was a crazy ass night lol

Now in my late 40s, i dont know how my back held out in that uncomfortable bed.

I remember being in 9th grade and there was a girl that would come in every morning smelling like cigarettes and she was a real geek and I knew she wasn’t cool enough to smoke so it must’ve been her parents smoking in the car on the way to school
I was a stinky kid whose 9th grade English teacher allowed the class a full 5 minutes every school day during roll call to take verbal shots. Everyone made fun of me. The teacher named me "Smokey the Bear." She believed in "positive peer pressure" so she permitted the bullying to prevent me from smoking. My parents were chain smokers; and they were the reason I was stinky even after a shower.

My dad had a water bed for a short time when I was a kid, late 80s, early 90s. My cousin and I would try to launch each other off the bed. One would lay flat on one side, the other would stand on the dresser and jump on to the empty side of the bed, trying to launch the other into the air. It worked a few times. Needless to say, my dad was pissed the day he caught us doing this. 😂
