In my time on this rock I have left several groups, clubs & organizations (including the military after 24 years of service). Know when it's time to go? When you no longer agree with the organizations core principals, it's time to go. When you disagree with more members than you agree with, it's time to go. When you dont feel like you belong, it's time to go. When you no longer feel uplifted & good about being part of it, it's time to go. There is nothing wrong with it and there is no shame in it. Staying in a bad situation that isnt in your best interest is like a form of 'battered wifes syndrome'. YOUR mental health & spiritual well being must always come first.
Was in a club for several years, held various officer positions over those years. Loved parts of it, hated others. The mantra we all believed in was "Being in an MC is a lifestyle, not a hobby". I really took that to heart. Life got to a point where I wasn't able to participate to the level that was expected of members. My brothers were fine allowing me to fall below that level for a time, but it became clear that it was going to be awhile. I'm not the kind of man that will ask someone to do things that I can't/won't do. When I found myself having to talk to a brother about not making an event, knowing that I wasn't there, I knew it was time to step away. I still love my brothers and try to support every public event I can from the outside to this day. When the time is right I'll put the cut back on, but only when the time is right. I work rotating shiftwork with ALOT of overtime, power plant control room operator. I go to 8 rallies a year, 3 weeks in Sturgis and that takes up all of my time. Can't wait to shake your hand at Sturgis and thank you for your commitment to your org that can't be named.
Just found your channel and loving it. I recently had to walk away from my MC due to my disabled sons condition worsening. It was one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make as I was part of building our chapter from new with all that is involved. My brothers are still my brothers but it hurts like hell not to wear the patch. Your totally correct to say "when it's time, it's time" but it's never an easy decision. Keep up the good work. L&R
Wish there was a "love" button! My husband and I are just getting involved in a child organization motorcycle group and your videos have answered a lot of questions we had! Thank you for taking time to share your life and heart with us!
I had to step away from a club I belonged to. And, I wasnt happy that I had to. I wrestled with the decision for over a month. My time at work changed, and I simply couldnt meet the criteria for staying active. I tried, but simply couldnt do it. I spoke with the president, and explained the situation. He asked that I simply write a formal letter explaining why, and then return the patches. Done. No hard feelings. I still see a few of them through other circles, and there is no hard feelings. I ended up joining a local HOG chapter, where I am now assistant director (VP but HD doesnt use those terms), and am happy with that. I dont have the strict criteria to meet, ride wise (I work most weekends) that need to be met. I still make meetings, and still ride like hell-still run rides, create rides, do charities, etc-I just dont feel BOUND to do so. Which is huge.

Clubs should recognize that there are times that their members need to temporarily step away, for a variety of legit reasons, and should provide a sort of “leave of absence” for very specific time periods, with very specific conditions (turn in their cut until reinstated, etc…). If the member is not ready for reinstatement when the leave period lapses, then it’s time to end the membership. Great topic!
Your words of wisdom apply to so much more than just MC's. When a person starts to say "I" too much, he or she is no longer a productive member of a team. Unfortunately, too often "team" members are more concerned about hurting someone's feelings than being open and honest about the situation.

Kudos to you and your organization. God bless. Happy 4th!
I am the Past Director of an American Legion Riders Chapter and have stepped back into my old position of Road Capt. I have been riding since 1966. I found your channel months ago and enjoy your no BS common sense approach to explaining the lifestyle. Keep up the good work.
Not to diminish the importance in this context, but your words are true for anything in life. I was always taught that you’re responsible for your words and actions and the consequences of both.
I agree! I’m a part of a non motorcycle affiliated board for an athletic club but have zero interest or passion, I finally made up my mind to step up, man up, and be like hey there’s a better person out there to deal with this and support the organization…you are right: when it’s time recognize it yourself and do the right thing
This advice translates to many aspects of life. Not just clubs, but jobs, relationships, friendships and many others. When you know it, own it and step away. If done with respect and honesty there is no shame and more than likely that which you stepped away from will welcome you back when or if it’s time.
My only friends are a Native American MC. Ride with them every chance I get. VP is my best friend. Actually live in my RV, beside his house in Arizona. They are all my brothers, even though I never joined. Love these guys. My friend is thinking of starting a chapter here, in Southeastern AZ. Will probably join if he does. I'm almost 66 and blind in one eye , but I ride everyday. Love your content. You seem like the real deal. Not sure what your organization is but, I get what you do. Good man. Keep it up.
Right on same message goes to all around life ! Own it and know when it time to call it ! Love your Chanel Have a great time, safe travels You and the Mrs. at Sturgis !
I gotta say. I just found your videos. I'm recently back into riding. Shadow, ZX10R, now on a Street Glide, Man I really enjoy listening to you, very humble and easy spoken Man with a passion for it. Very down to earth. Keep rocking the page brother. Happy 4th
Some how came across your channel by accident and now can’t stop watching what you post. Your information is interesting, informative, and makes me say to myself…..hmmmm didn’t know that! Like you, looking forward to Sturgis this year as it should be a good one!!
Good video and information. I've seen guys do it properly and then for the wrong reasons. MC life is not for everyone. I tell anybody thinking about it that riding alone is a much easier ride, but if you can make the compromises that are needed to be a good club member, the advantages greatly outweigh the bad. I can ride 2-6 hours in any direction and know I'll have family and a place to stay close to where I decide to stop, we call it our extended family. Much respect to your club and what you do for the kids.
This video is very timely in my world. Been a member of a club for 25 years, I’m a lifer now and up until about a year ago was still into it. But recently things have changed and I’ve been bouncing back and forth if it’s time. I believe my issue is that my wife and I moved to another state and I changed chapters, just not the same feeling. I’ll decide this weekend and let them know at our next meeting. Have a great holiday.
Idk about everyone else but I like to think that I’m commenting on my opinion so mine is the one that matters ha ha 😂 me and my husband watch all of your videos and sometimes can’t make it to your live chats but we try. What you said in this video seriously goes for every aspect of our lives not just the clubs and you said it (put it) perfect! Thank you so much and I can’t wait for the next video. Great job by the way!!!!
What you have thanked about in this video is the biggest reason I can’t join a “club” or “organization “ me and the wife run two companies and have family obligations. On top of all that PTSD for me and it’s just to though for me to do. I think a club/organization would be great for me to help with my issues, but I will always put the wife and family first. That’s just how I’m made. I have a couple of vet friends who are on that family list. We all have them people that it don’t matter that you haven’t talked in months, but when the call comes at 2am you just go and ask later….😬 Be safe out there…
@@ProfessionalMonkey I have. The local chapter here for me would be the Panama City chapter. I’m guessing that have enough or nobody. I have reached out but got nothing back. For me that’s a red flag. Thank you for your insight and all you share with “us”!
@@davidhelmuth6654 I wouldn't take it as a red flag. I would try to go to one of their meetings and decide. E-mail shouldn't be the end of the trail. I know from experience how things can fall through the cracks.
@@ProfessionalMonkey 100% great suggestion. Also consider Joining your local American Legion Post, the is an American Legion Riders Association as well .
Great topic! The press, TV and movies blow this out of proportion for 1% clubs or gangs. We are mature adults. When i was offered as a prospect Prison or military by a judge for a non club related incident. My club was behind me knowing there were brothers in the states big house for me. Then let me go and join the military with the respect and honor I actually earned in my service. Though I prefer to ride alone and not participate with people, I respect clubs and organizations! Hoka Hey
I applaud what you do I’m familiar with your organization Love what they do We parted ways because I tended to take Protecting children as an offensive move rather than standing in defense After the 3rd predator of one of our adoptees mysteriously moved out of state upon they’re release from the hospital they decided I wasn’t the best”fit” Lol Let’s just say we differed ideologically on the best way to “protect” abused children But I still retain enormous respect for y’all
I love and appreciate your content. I think you are absolutely right. You need to know it for yourself and you need to be real with your "organization" in how committed you are and where you stand.
Good conversation. Formerly of a 1% club, I faced a situation where I had to turn in patches but not because of problems or anything you mentioned. It was a good outing but one that pained my heart. It’s been several months now and I still long for the brotherhood. However I also know that for now, it’s best for me to remain solo.
As a Chef I had to tell a few People to walk away from the Kitchen, that they no longer belonged in one, Worst part is when my body Made me give Myself that Talk before someone else had to tell me it was Past Time, I left when it was Time Gracefully with Class and Style
@@ProfessionalMonkey In Life some people realize and accept their limits, which for someone who lived a life without limits for 65 years can be a Tough pill to swallow. I aws the guy run over at 25 supposed to lose his leg and use of right hand as right handed person trying out For Pro Baseball, took me 2 1./2 years to teach myself to walk, not only learned to write left handed but retaught my right hand again and not only didnt live off government I worked real jobs and did 29 years volunteer work only in 2005 to be collected up in another major accident that resulted in 7 damaged vertbrae and Jaws destroyed complete with TMJ to boot and I Sucked it Up, Went on to become an Award Winning Chef and still did more volunteer work. So it was a Bitter damn Pill I still tend to spit back up
Good stuff! I had to walk away from a club, because they were 1.) Family 2.) Job 3.) Club , but then began to twist the narrative. Stating that your club brothers become your family. I couldn’t make that transition. Lots of time, blood, sweat, and humble growth went into earning that patch, but the decision wasn’t hard when you put my title of husband and dad in jeopardy. Maybe I’ll be up for the challenge again someday to earn my way into the MC world, but certainly no regerts 😉.
Great info this video I recently got in touch with my local chapter of the organization that shall not be named. I’m looking forward to getting started with the process of joining them. But as I have left some organizations previously and I know how hard that can be. But like you said when it’s time it’s time
Had about a half hour chat with some of the guys from the Melbourne Australia branch of your organisation recently. Very interesting and awesome guys. 👍👍🇦🇺
When I bought my first Harley-Davidson in 2017 I joined the local Chapter. Went to all the meetings. Had no luck with mingling in(I tried). From my view it was divided into clicks. I dropped out after three years. Good topic Thanks
Hung around a 1% affiliated club for a few months at the request of a friend. Though about making a commitment but before I did I scoured the internet to find out about the life. Decided there was no way I could make that kind of commitment. Discovered that they don't really care if your mortgage is paid or family obligations are met. I do miss the comradery and friendships I had in the ARMY. Maybe I will try to find a club that aligns their core values the way yours does.
Really starting to like your channel brother talk about good stuff love your bikes I can tell you take great pride in what you ride I wish you could go into what you do for your club I have a feeling it's a great thing I know you're helping kids and that is awesome have a great weekend brother be safe and definitely keep all those digits but blow some cool shit up LOL looking forward to seeing the next one
Good advice. Reflect on your choices when you lose your drive for what your doing. This could be applied to club memberships, jobs and even relationships. Otherwise, you will continue to separate yourself both physically and mentally until which time your own decision will be taken from you.
if it has to happen, make sure it is an out good. Left my first club because it was just not the club for me, and I was an officer at the time. I retired from my second club where it was a perfect fit for me and my brothers.
Much RESPECT to al mc clubs. If I never had kids” no regrets, my kids are number one” saying that I probably would have been in an mc. As I grew up around it. It’s was definitely not what I would want my kids around. No disrespect to any Mc 1% club. Respect
"Own your shit!" Not just biker words to live by. I would also add "Understand the room" if you aren't getting what you need from a club or group, maybe its time to take a step back and see if your objectives still align. I use this advice even with things like jobs. If I'm not happy with something, maybe its time to take a step back and asses the situation and find out if myself and the group are still compatible.
Yeah I think parents should teach there kids more of this mentality. Try, then see if you like or dislike it don’t just outright say you like or dislike something experience is what makes you unique
Your philosophy is not just for an mc, but any organization you might be involved with. Good advice, great video on the subject!. Have a great 4th! Hope I get a chance to meet you in Sturgis!
I've been checking out different content because the MC set is changing so rapidly, and many of the opinions and perspectives are foreign to my personal experiences. This channel is pretty level headed and probably represents the sentiments of a more "modern ' perspectives on the subject, rather then traditional ones that dominate my own views on certain subjects. Interesting channel.
It's a good thing. While I personally don't think "MCs" like BACA and the like are "traditional " I do believe however that the particular experience for those participants in mission driven clubs have their own culture and experiences that deserve respect on their own accord, but are separate. The information, and advice you give is rooted in that, and is beneficial to a large segment of the contemporary set.
Some of us are just plain tired. We have belonged to clubs, organizations, work, churches. Im not against MC organizations and appreciate the freedom and liberty to make ones own decision. I retired after 22 years Navy and another 12 in government. I am one of those that just just not have it in my gut anymore. I get on my motorcycle and ride. To forget things. Mostly by myself. Then I go home to my dog or my wood shop. Im getting older. Thanks for your channel. Bless
Four words for Vets or anybody " Run for the Wall". Riding for those who can't. Wanting an accounting for ALL MIA's and POW's. It will be the most intense ten days of your life. Hugs, tears and getting Brohters and Sisters for life.
Agree with your comments in particular to the leave of absents because that's what my Club in Australia has put in place. Also we have quiet a few Members getting older or injuries from military service so they produce a recommendation from their GP not to ride. They maintain there Membership and attend things as they can. That way they still have the comradery and we can help by keeping an eye on them.
I grew up in a 1%er club. My dad left the club when a rival club blew up and burned down their club house. He feared for my brother and my safety. He did a good job keeping the rough stuff from us growing up, and it was not until I was older I realized all the 1%er stuff they were doing.
Lhate we ain’t all bad people please be careful next time of your choice of words, most if not. All do good work for community even pay to ride for charity’s etc even tho we can do it for free so I’d look into the full facts and not just negatives you see
We understand that can happen but as we typed earlier we (as any club We meant) all are not bad pple there are some decent clubs out there but every man is responsible for own actions Lhate we advised your words cos some clubs may see problems with what u said not once wa# we being offensive
Alrighty simp..... If 1%ers are such bad people, go around and fuck w/people for absolutely NO REASON, ECT.......... Wtf do you call Law Enforcement?.... Hell they're the BIGGEST GANG here in the U.S., ALWAYS fuckin w/people left & right, caught up in criminal activities & so on. So if 1%ers are a gang? then so are Law Enforcement, only difference is one is Government sponsored/Funded.
I have been watching you and a couple others about riding. I have been looking at joining a club/organization as well. Just trying to see what fits. I work rotating 12 hr shift, have a small farm, and family. Hard to find time for much these days. Thanks for the advice!!
It takes a string sense and awareness of self, plus integrity, to realize that it's not happening anymore and you need to step away. It's like the military, you know when you know.
If you wear a cube your brothers are the first to ask if you need to step away. If it’s legit you turn the property of the club back in on good terms and retire your seniority. Good advice
Been riding racing etc forty years ama member forever .I was member of a large club for ten years had fun but due to deaths n polictical wrangling in club .I saw club going were it should not go I pointed this out as I was in position to do so unfortunatly situation became so toxic. Not treating but I just didn't dig it so I realized couldn't fix it so me n five others walked .dang it we were right but we left good

You're absolutely right!
As regaurds job totally differnt i recon. Thats employment only. With a job I think its best to say nothing and walk and dont answer calls.
You have some good points but more importantly you have a good heart and it shows
Thank you.
Good man. Keep it up.
Thank you, sir. I would love to meet up and have a beer with a native MC. Great stories I am sure!!!!
Right on same message goes to all around life ! Own it and know when it time to call it !
Love your Chanel Have a great time, safe travels You and the Mrs. at Sturgis !
Thank you! You too!
I gotta say. I just found your videos. I'm recently back into riding. Shadow, ZX10R, now on a Street Glide, Man I really enjoy listening to you, very humble and easy spoken Man with a passion for it. Very down to earth. Keep rocking the page brother. Happy 4th
Thanks bud!!!!
Some how came across your channel by accident and now can’t stop watching what you post. Your information is interesting, informative, and makes me say to myself…..hmmmm didn’t know that! Like you, looking forward to Sturgis this year as it should be a good one!!
It's gonna be great!
That also can happen. It's not just the club or org, its your chapter. If I moved, even within my state I don't know how well it would work.
Can’t get enough of your content man. Love how real you are about things and how much you love bikes.
Thanks!
Just found your channel today and had to subscribe.. love the content ive seen so far and look forward to seeing more!
Thanks a bunch, I appreciate it!!!
@@ProfessionalMonkey No Problem my man! Keep it up we all enjoy it
I love how much knowledge you have about the biker lifestyle
There are people out there that know a lot more. I will never say anything I don't know to be true.
Yeah, your job....I'll keep mine and answer to nobody, all the best to you!
When it's your time, it's your time and you should be the first to acknowledge it, no matter what it is in life
What you have thanked about in this video is the biggest reason I can’t join a “club” or “organization “ me and the wife run two companies and have family obligations.
On top of all that PTSD for me and it’s just to though for me to do.
I think a club/organization would be great for me to help with my issues, but I will always put the wife and family first. That’s just how I’m made. I have a couple of vet friends who are on that family list. We all have them people that it don’t matter that you haven’t talked in months, but when the call comes at 2am you just go and ask later….😬
Be safe out there…
Have you looked into the CVMA? Combat Vets Motorcycle Association. Great group, and a lot of dudes have benefitted from it.
@@ProfessionalMonkey will do that. Again thank you!
Hoka Hey
I applaud what you do
I’m familiar with your organization
Love what they do
We parted ways because I tended to take
Protecting children as an offensive move rather than standing in defense
After the 3rd predator of one of our adoptees mysteriously moved out of state upon they’re release from the hospital they decided I wasn’t the best”fit”
Lol
Let’s just say we differed ideologically on the best way to “protect” abused children
But I still retain enormous respect for y’all
I love and appreciate your content. I think you are absolutely right. You need to know it for yourself and you need to be real with your "organization" in how committed you are and where you stand.
Rough subject for sure. Good video.
Tell me about it. It's important to know when though. Thanks for watching.
It's a hard decision to make. I am glad you made the tough one. I hope it helps you get to where you need to be.
You always have good content in your videos.Even make me laugh at times. Thanks for just being a straight up guy.Peace.
Thank you.
Apply this to life...great video. This works for jobs, friends, etc.
As a Chef I had to tell a few People to walk away from the Kitchen, that they no longer belonged in one, Worst part is when my body Made me give Myself that Talk before someone else had to tell me it was Past Time, I left when it was Time Gracefully with Class and Style
It's funny how this applies really to all things in life right?
So it was a Bitter damn Pill I still tend to spit back up
You are the man! Picking up my first Streetglide special tomo! Thanks for all the great advice and entertainment
Have fun!
I have heard that story. My humble opinion your priorities are straight.
Mad respect for you and those who are in the club life, and no I don't have a lone wolf patch it isn't needed lol
Good video, straight forward- no bullshit. Keep up the good work
Yep my Club is the same way, family, job, Club. Having family issues with our Club, we always work with the Brother, always
👍👍🇦🇺
Great advice, with a great attitude! Well done.
Just ordered my Advanblack dash, appreciate your video on it, thats what convinced me to order it!
Right on!
When I bought my first Harley-Davidson in 2017 I joined the local Chapter. Went to all the meetings. Had no luck with mingling in(I tried). From my view it was divided into clicks. I dropped out after three years. Good topic Thanks
Local chapter of what, HOG? I’ve heard that it can be hard to make friends in those chapters…
@@ProfessionalMonkey yes local chapter of HOG. Not to mention the Dealership actually called the shots. I thought that was Bullshit also
without going into details and me being in the shoes of what youre speaking of, as an officer, you hit the nail on the head
Sorry, can't go into details. We have intense social media rules I have to follow.
Thank you for the great video. Very helpful. Ride safe n God bless.
great topic . . . kinda funny I just walked away from my job for most of these reasons
The support club I’m looking at joining is the same. Family first. Job second. Then club stuff. Which is why I’m hanging around.
Respect
Remember how it all started. Bikes. Friends. Brothers in arms. Needing each other. I like that narritive.
Love and respect. That includes yourself. So we'll said and great vid
500 likes thats what I'm talking about..... yall are killing it. Great video buddy
Very true.
We call it integrity, and a strong moral compass.
Your philosophy is not just for an mc, but any organization you might be involved with. Good advice, great video on the subject!. Have a great 4th! Hope I get a chance to meet you in Sturgis!
I appreciate that!
Interesting? Not sure if that's a good thing or bad thing... HA!
I completely agree with you I love your content and love your channel
Brother great advice which can be also used in life not just a club or group.
True right?
Good video
Just started watching your channel. A lot of great stuff.
Have a great 4th
Ride safe
Thanks, you too!
Hi warm greetings from London England . Great vids i really enjoy them. Stay safe mate. Keep rocking 👍😁
Thanks!
A few bad apples can ruin the bunch. But understand members may come and go. Best to stick it out unless you just can’t. But circumstances do change
Bless
Great video as always, keep up the awesome content!
As always, great chat. Be safe.
This video has a moral that is good for anyone that has ever belonged to anything or anyone, or wanted to. Cool sh1t bro.
Thank you.
Wow! I got a lot of answers to questions. Thanks.
I grew up in a 1%er club. My dad left the club when a rival club blew up and burned down their club house. He feared for my brother and my safety. He did a good job keeping the rough stuff from us growing up, and it was not until I was older I realized all the 1%er stuff they were doing.
@@i_hate_simps_2608 have you ever been in an MC?
I just banned him. He's gone. I don't deal with disrespectful shitbags. Sorry y'all.
I learn a lot from you sir, thank you
My pleasure
I have been watching you and a couple others about riding. I have been looking at joining a club/organization as well. Just trying to see what fits. I work rotating 12 hr shift, have a small farm, and family. Hard to find time for much these days. Thanks for the advice!!
It takes a string sense and awareness of self, plus integrity, to realize that it's not happening anymore and you need to step away. It's like the military, you know when you know.
If you wear a cube your brothers are the first to ask if you need to step away. If it’s legit you turn the property of the club back in on good terms and retire your seniority. Good advice
Can't wait for the stream, last one I tuned in to was a blast
We'll be here!
Very cool Chanel keep up the good work
Thanks, will do!
I would love to see a video that explains the difference between a club, organization and association.
All good, sensible advice.
