I'm not a Harley expert. At all. My last bike was a 1984 Low Rider. One reason I come here is to learn about Harleys from someone I consider an expert on the brand. Thanks for all you do to enlighten those of us who know that we don't, in fact, know it all! Be safe!
When i bought my 1st Harley, 2006 sportser 883, it wasn't a real Harley. Same people complained about my 08 Lowrider. Can't make everyone happy; so fuck em. Ride what you want.
If “they” want to pay for what I ride, I’ll give them the space to air their opinion. Hence, since no one has made that offer, no one has “earned” that. So, eff em I’ll ride my choice whether it be driven by $$$ or style and fit. Last bike was a 2008 CVO anniversary road king. I enjoyed that the best of all my bikes Regardless of brand or cost. Air ride and custom seat created fit M
Upside down forks are to reduce unsprung weight causing the tires to more quickly move and stay in contact with the road. It also allows easier tuning for suspension.
Dude…63yr old retired fighter pilot here….I ride a 2011 BMW R1200R (it of course is not a Harley…LOL)…..bought used from the original 70yr old owner in 2018 for $6000……I love your channel, your wit, intelligence, and humor. Keep it up and ride safe! Would love to have a beer with you someday!!
Couldn’t agree more! Love the technology Harleys bring to the v-twin. “Real Harley guys” will bitch about Harley being stuck in the past, then turn around and bitch about the new designs they put out!
2024 is the year we are finally beginning to see American twin manufacturers push one another. Just like we've been talking about and saying would be a good thing. And then people have to start talking smack... head shaking. Manufacturers rip one another off constantly, is what it is, and we are all the better for it. I am a die-hard Indian rider. I LOVE the new Harley's this year and the trickle down from last year's CVOs. Cant' wait for more and thanks for always putting out no BS cool MC content, dude.
Excellent video !!!! I love the knock that they copied Indian. With the ride modes & tech, maybe, maybe not. The fact that they push each other to get better is a benefit to every heavyweight American bike owner/rider out there. Yes, I am an Indian owner & you hear the some of the same "that's not an Indian" crap when they come out with a new innovation. Again, great video
This was hilarious! Great way to address those moronic comments with humor. Loved it. And I love my CVO road glide ST. After almost 30 years of riding Harleys, I can confirm it is a real Harley.
I have a ‘17 Road King, and I joked about the sound. I called it a Honda-Davidson sound. I put a K n N filter in it, and Cobra NH. Now it sounds like a Harley! Love the channel, keep the rubber side down!
The inverted fork thing is just this easy to explain. Non-inverted forks are like holding your fishing pole by the small end. I've been praying for a mono-shock bagger for some time now hopefully soon. It's nice to be back in the performance game with Harley.
100%. I went to a challenger because of this. HD dropped the ball not making a mono shock RG, and all of them should have had inverted forks. When they do that I'll be right there taking a serious look.
Yesterday I traded my Tri Glide for a 24 Road Glide to with my Pan America so I am already in the "not a Harley" crowd. I like the Pan Am a lot and the RG is very nice.
I run into the supposed bikers all the time while I am riding my 2013 HD Road Glide Ultra. Oh that's not a real Harley, the one I have in my garage fixing, my 48 shovel, and yes for some reason they all always have shovels and they're always bored and stroked to 96 cubic inches and on rigid frames. I'm always like your correct it's not a Harley it is a Harley-Davidson Road Glide Ultra. I've owned old HD'S on rigid frames and I am so so happy to have my bagger, and very blessed to have it. Love your video man and your HD collection...
I know it’s a little off topic. I wanted to drop in here just to say thank you for what your doing. Iv always wanted to get into riding but never really was able to afford it. Now that I can afford it I’m 40 yrs old with a wife and 2 kids 11yrs and 14yrs lol. A guy I work with sold me an old springer he had to learn on. So obviously the club life has pretty much passed me by but with the knowledge iv picked up from people like you has allowed me to have some pretty cool experiences around people that are in clubs and for that I truly thank you.
Great video. Don't let the haters get to you. They're always going to be some that has to think they know it all. How cares what other motorcycle it looks like either you like it and go buy one or hate it and don't buy it. All motorcycle companies have used other companies' ideals for years. If you have something that is popular and selling well, guess what another company is going to come out with a similar design.
no emissions on motorcycles in colorado, you can also plate almost anything as long as it has dot tires, mirror and lights, great video friend. also what happened to the R1... those are gonna be collectors items soon
I got some flack the other day from some "real bikers" about my icon jacket and full face helmet, telling me i cant use "that" jacket and helmet on my harley lol
I own an Indian Challenger. I love my bike. But I'm willing to say that Harleys answer to it is really cool. Harley did a great job! That's why competition is good for everyone.

Stumbled across your channel. 67 yr old that grew up on 2-stroke Yamaha's in the early 70's. Appreciate your info and attitude. Due to health issues now, I have to ride vicariously. Great job, enjoyed the video.
Love this. You do that voice so well. And yeah, it’s the freaking government pinching the Motor Co. on sound. My ‘23 Street Glide has a S&S .475 with the Khrome Werks two into one Outlaw pipe. She sounds like a Harley and I can’t believe how fast she is now. Oh too, by the way, she’s also running the S&S chrome teardrop air cleaner. I’m 52 and had too many HD’s to count goin back to FXR’s and Evo Dynas with a few twin cams and by FAR - this is the fastest Harley I’ve ever owned. Love the M8 with that .475 cam. She’s a beast.
I was on the fence when I first saw them…….and then I went for a test ride on my new 24 Road Glide and promptly traded my 23 Street Glide in on it. These are incredible motorcycles! Thanks Monk for all the great content!!
I love your sarcasm man! The people like you said are jealous and ridiculous! A good video,, I hope the people made those remarks watch and see the crazy comments. Keep up the great videos!
You hit the nail on the head. Let's face it, a lot of current H-D owners are about to age out of riding. H-D needs to sell to a younger audience. I think the ST lineup was brought out for that exact reason. And you don't have to buy a RG CVO ST to have performance fun, you can get a Lowrider S or ST for half the price.
Good to see that you have not lost your enthusiasm and passion about Harley's. 😂 Those hockeyologists denying the CVO ST ( or for that matter any new HD bike not looking like an AMF glued together accident ) the bar and shield credibility will never give in. It's just the nature of the beast 😃 The good thing is that we all agree that there is only 1 real motorcycle manufacturer. Careful offending the Brits, they are fierce opponents in dual handed lifting🤣
Love the CVO/ST but dang cant justify the price, just bought my first Harley in October 2023 - Fast Johnnie RG. Nice Bike hoping Harley will make a Road Glide ST starting in 2025 with the 121
One of the not a real Harley i have been looking for is the 70s 2 stroker. I would absolutely love to find a decent one with a title to rip around town on
People didn't want to accept the new fangled overhead valve engine (Knucklehead) in 1936. People thought the Flathead WL's VL's and UL's were as good as it got. Overhead valve was new tech. in 1936. "IT WASN'T A REAL HARLEY!" 🤣
Stock exhaust M8s don't sound like a motorcycle to be fair. My grandma's old signer sewing machine is louder lmao but to be fair, no one keeps a stock exhaust on a Harley
@randywhitford288 Sorry to bust your comment, but I have a 2022 Heritage 114 with STOCK exhaust and stock engine internals too. I hate noise. So, I guess my Heritage is not a REAL Harley either, cause it’s quiet…………TOO Quiet 😂

I bought a 21 fxlrs as my first Harley, not my first bike... first Harley... it is of course not a dyna and therefore apparently not a real low rider. When I was riding clapped out Hondas they weren't real bikes... apparently. Idk where I was going with this, but rants like the one you are engaged in as of 3min into your video, as well as some of your stories that you put out there to lend your experience to the biking community are why I keep coming back to your channel.... oh yeah, my semi is an automatic, so despite living the lifestyle of a trucker the last 6 years... there are probably some that would say I am not a real trucker either lol... keep being awesome and putting out videos that are real.
I own a VROD and I’m aware of the hate on those too. Fact is that if it’s made by Harley it’s a Harley. Some people might not like it but it’s still a Harley. I own a Road Glide also and now thanks to this video I’m wanting a 2024 CVO ST now. I have to stop watching these videos before my wallet catches fire!
The '80 - '85 FXWG's are some of the best "Harleys" that Harley Davidson ever made. I have an '84 and a '99 Softail and I love them both. The '99 is better built than the '84. But, Harley Davidson stopped making "Harleys" when the last Big Twin Evos left the assembly line. With the exception of the Evo Sportsters, All that HD has made in the 21st century are motor vehicles.
Good video. I had two Harleys in the past. Rough times now I ride a Road Star 1700 sounds like a Harley at idle. I wish I too could have one of those Harleys. Maybe someone could give me one. When horsepower goes up and speeds go up you want inverted forks, better everything. Harley is making them better than the covered wagon days. Today's race car are way better than one in the 60's. Change is hard, new stuff is only the best.
I got my 24 CVO ST two weeks ago. It is without a doubt the best bike I have ever owned. It is an absolutely amazing machine. It's the only bike Harley has ever produced from the factory that you don't HAVE to change anything on it. It is perfect the way it is. Of course I am changing a couple things. Taller risers, different seat and exhaust. But that's it. People love to talk shit until they ride one. The other half of people talking shit just can't afford one.
The same one's that see a Sportster and call it a "girls bike". I don't know about other areas, but two of the top choices for women around here was the Road King and Dyna Switchback. Those types don't realize Sportsters can be modified to get well within muscle bike territory, and they're used for quite a few styles of track racing.
It seems to be the same people who see you buy a roller for a chopper/bobber and say "You're not a builder, you're an assembler". As emissions tests go, I don't know about here in Louisiana, but we do have state-required inspections, so there's that.
lol! Back in 2016 when I purchased my new and first Harley Softail Slim S all blacked out. Everywhere I went and even at Harley bike night I was told it wasn’t a real Harley because it was all blacked out & no chrome. 8 year later I still love it and brings a smile to my face every time I go for a ride!! in🤘🏼😎
There's definitely validity to the M8's "not sounding like a Harley". Stock, they sound fine when they're standing alone, but put start them back to back with any other Harley big twin, and all the sudden the M8 sounds like crap. A cam really does change the exhaust sound completely on an M8.
Other big advantage with upside down forks is they can be designed to be adjustable for compression, preload, rebound, and sag, and the really fancy ones can be adjusted electronically. Still can't say I am a fan of the new 2024 street glide and road glide. I like gauges on my classic touring bikes (something that both Indian & BMW kept, and that I really wish HD kept as well), and I am not really crazy for the look of the new fairings.
I had a Valkyrie in 2004 that had inverted forks. The best ride ever for the year. My 2019 street glide doesn’t ride half as good. They need to get with the times when it comes to suspension and this is a good step in the right direction. This shouldn’t be a cvo option but a standard one.
The orange bike sounds damn good, matter-of-fact. I am slapping an SNS 475 cam in my street glide special this weekend… I hope it sounds as good as that thing.
My opinion is that harley's haven't been real harley since the 60s and 70s. But I get what Harley is doing. They're trying to grab the younger generation so you have to change the look of the bike and The performance. Kudos to harley 👏👏
Hands down the CVO ST is the best motorcycle Harley Davidson has ever produced…. Just to clarify, l have owned many Harley’s (and many other bikes), and now own a CVO ST, with many other Harley’s. I own and operate a Harley performance work shop. But what would l know… I only hope Harley produces more not Harley, bikes like this 😂
Well a TC does sound better than an M8… M8 needs to be cammed to sound good along with a good exhaust. The M8 took me a few years to really like the M8 sound tho.. got into it when I got my 2nd one. M8s are fkn dope. The big block of Harley land.
Yes you're right I'm an old motorcycle rider and I could have swore when I first seen the new Harley V-Twin somebody said that was not a Harley hahaha but when someone says the new M8 motor doesn't sound like a Harley but when I fly by them I say does it sound like a Harley now
“When is Harley gonna come out with the latest tech? Latest suspension? More reliable motors? Better design?” Harley: “That’s not a real Harley!” You can’t win against stupid people. Harley haters will always exist. And what kills me is its the ones that don’t even own a harley, bashing on Harley!
I want to say Arizona had motorcycle emissions i believe up till 2010-2015 somewhere around there. I think when they say HD copied Indian it was the headlight they somewhat look alike but like most people it grew on me i like it. If i could i would get the white CVO ST i think it looks bad AF with the red accent although it could be because i have a 22 Electra Glide Standard and have add red accents to her as well and yea she’s a real Harley 😂 😎✌🏽
Well.. Yeah, sure, if you do cams, exhaust on a M8 it sounds great, different to a Evo and Twin Cam, but still, sounds great BUT ... there are markets, the European market for example, where its not that easy to do those mods and don't get pulled over by cops a lot! We got strict regulations, and we need to spend a lot for a legal exhaust and cams, Jekyll&Hyde, Penzl and so on, to get that Harley Sound out of a M8! It's way easier with the older Models, like Twin Cams and specially Evos! In the States, yeah, easy to make your M8 sound bad a**, but not in Europe, if you wanna stay on the legal side!
i have a 21 street Glide with a 475 cam and 2 into1 outlaw pipes and guess what it sounds Just like a Harley Should!!!! i don't care what anyone says you know what sounds like a Harley whatever Harley you own. people need to stop!!!!
What will truly bake your noodle is the thought that in 45 years from now that beautiful, state of the art 2024 Road Glide St is probably going to look like that 1980 bike. I can't even wrap my brain around that or what a bike will look like in 45 years. I'm assuming they will fly -and possibly perform minor surgical procedures.
I’m with ya. It’s a real Harley and still looks better than the Challenger. But I’m not a fan of the new shark nose. Prefer the Rushmore dual light look myself. But I still ride a 14 Limited batwing so what do I know? 🤷♂️
Will somebody sell me their “not a Harley” for a “Not Harley” price??

I own a VROD and I’m aware of the hate on those too. Fact is that if it’s made by Harley it’s a Harley. Some people might not like it but it’s still a Harley. I own a Road Glide also and now thanks to this video I’m wanting a 2024 CVO ST now. I have to stop watching these videos before my wallet catches fire!
I was so in love with the VROD for a while. Such great lines.
Yeah, I know what you mean. People saying it is not a real Harley, I have the same problem with my Serial 1 E-Bike.
I had a guy tell me my 83 FXWG must be a Honda because it didn't say Harley Davidson on the tank. I had just repainted it.
Oh it must be then... HA!!
Outstanding video with your unique humor! 😉
Thank you!
That 1980 FLT Tour-glide is not a real Harley. That’s an AMF Harley. Just kidding 😂. Really enjoying your stuff. Keep’em comming.
Amazing how far Harley has come in 100 years
Tennessee has no inspection for cars, motorcycle and pickup trucks.
Haters gonna hate but Sportys are GREAT !
Yes they are!
Sportys are the shit. I learned to ride on a friends 883, such a fun bike.
I’m just waiting to ride my not real Harley to the over priced not real Sturgis motorcycle ralley. That’s not real.
It seems to be the same people who see you buy a roller for a chopper/bobber and say "You're not a builder, you're an assembler". As emissions tests go, I don't know about here in Louisiana, but we do have state-required inspections, so there's that.
I'm glad my 03 VROD "isn't a real Harley ". Probably why it still runs like a top. Most "Real" Harleys don't .
I love V-Rods, used to have one till I wrecked it. And no, Harleys are really reliable these days.
Remember the old T ' shirts that read. See no evil, fear no evil, RIDE NO EVO. It will never end.
😂
You are right that is a real Harley. A real ugly Harley. I'll just be going now...
lol! Back in 2016 when I purchased my new and first Harley
Softail Slim S all blacked out.
Idle like a GW
Sure hope my 1989 tour glide is a real harley 😂
It sure as hell is!
Not in Nevada, no emissions test. At least not in my county.
The orange bike sounds damn good, matter-of-fact. I am slapping an SNS 475 cam in my street glide special this weekend… I hope it sounds as good as that thing.
I like the “that’s a girls bike” if it’s a Dyna or a heritage. Men ride baggers only of course.
I think California is only state with emissions testing for bikes. Some people have issues with change lol
My opinion is that harley's haven't been real harley since the 60s and 70s. But I get what Harley is doing. They're trying to grab the younger generation so you have to change the look of the bike and The performance. Kudos to harley 👏👏
Fire up a stock M8. Compare that to your 1980 Tour glide sound and cadence called us staccato EXAUST note. The last potato sound.
Yes there is no more potato sound. I have 3 friends that had the cam changed and they now have the potato sound.
Hands down the CVO ST is the best motorcycle Harley Davidson has ever produced….
Just to clarify, l have owned many Harley’s (and many other bikes), and now own a CVO ST, with many other Harley’s.
I own and operate a Harley performance work shop.
But what would l know…
I only hope Harley produces more not Harley, bikes like this 😂
Well a TC does sound better than an M8…
M8 needs to be cammed to sound good along with a good exhaust.
The M8 took me a few years to really like the M8 sound tho.. got into it when I got my 2nd one.
M8s are fkn dope. The big block of Harley land.
I think twinkies sound terrible. They have to idle at damn near a thousand rpm to maintain oil pressure up top.
Yes you're right I'm an old motorcycle rider and I could have swore when I first seen the new Harley V-Twin somebody said that was not a Harley hahaha but when someone says the new M8 motor doesn't sound like a Harley but when I fly by them I say does it sound like a Harley now
California has an emissions test for motorcycles for after 1978.
Damn!
@@ProfessionalMonkey yeah California sucks for a lot of things
IMHO THE 2024 CVO ROAD GLIDE ST is the holy Grail for the 24 model year!
He showed some nice bikes too, i would luv the black one
No inspection at all in GA.
none in South Dakota in fact you can license side by sides and ATV's and drive them on the streets
“When is Harley gonna come out with the latest tech? Latest suspension? More reliable motors? Better design?”
Harley:
“That’s not a real Harley!”
You can’t win against stupid people.
Im still not a fan of the new road glides. But im warming up to the new street glides. The orange road glide looks awesome!
You should do a video on Harley coming out saying in the future about going full electric and your thought and opinions on it!
i have a 21 street Glide with a 475 cam and 2 into1 outlaw pipes and guess what it sounds Just like a Harley Should!!!! i don't care what anyone says you know what sounds like a Harley whatever Harley you own. people need to stop!!!!
Picture a huge car battery with a seat, handlebars and two wheels on it. And I’ll have my twin cam Dyna posted for $100,000.
I’m with ya. It’s a real Harley and still looks better than the Challenger. But I’m not a fan of the new shark nose. Prefer the Rushmore dual light look myself. But I still ride a 14 Limited batwing so what do I know? 🤷♂️
"You didn't buy it at Capitol Harley-Davidson in Dimondale MI. That's not a real Harley!"
Cheap plug for work lol
Capitol Harley is a great dealer! My next one will come from there.
idc who does it but someone should remake the couch cushion seats imo, just with updated materials
