I have the Pentrex VHS of 1996 GCRY with 4960. Such an iconic whistle. It even features the doubleheader with 18, notably the full throttle charge at Pitt.
@@jimmyhook4852 You're right. They do mention BNSF in the Pentrex video, which implies it takes place post-merger and later than this clip, plus the box has the copyright year of 1998. Thanks for the correction.
@@wordenentertainment1997 Indeed for sure. X3 Here's hoping you do more for it in due time. ;) But I will enjoy what you have with the two thus far of course. :D

This video should be reaching 1,000 k views shortly, @Nikolas Worden :3 And yes.... that is the catch I was talking about in regards to of my comment from a couple days ago. ;)
That 5 chime just fits the 4960 like a glove. ‘Tis a shame the engine doesn’t wear it anymore. Edit: The old green livery of the GCRY was also good. To me, the green just looks so much better then the modern day white. Also, 18 and 4960 made for quite the pairing. Huge shame on the GCRY’s part to sell the 18, which pulled their inaugural train.
I agree. It gave 4960 such a distinctive sound. Not to mention I personally don't like what Xantera did with the railroad, along with steam locomotives 29 and 4960 by adding the Chinese feedwater systems to both locomotives. I really liked how 4960 looked between 1996 and 2006 before they added the water pump on the pilot deck and the heat exchanger on top of the smokebox.
@@wordenentertainment1997 Whilst I don’t mind the heat exchanger on top of the smokebox due to so many steam locomotives out there having heat exchangers, the feedwater heater on the pilot doesn’t suit the engine. Makes it look a bit TO utilitarian. But hey, efficiency and function over looks I guess.
@@wordenentertainment1997 Also, the Chinese feedwater system is to the design of American company Worthington’s SA feedwater system, if I’m remembering that correctly. The Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum put a feedwater system of the same design out of China on the 4501 during its rebuild from 2011 to 2014 as well, so it’s not an unheard of thing.
Neat your dad served in the Navy Nikolas. My grandfather served in the Navy as well during Vietnam. He was also born in Germany during WWII. Bet it was stressful on your mother your dad being in the services. Have you ever been back to Connecticut since you left?
No. They used footage of Grand Canyon Railway 2-8-0 18 from Berkshire Productions. The same footage was also used by Britt Allcroft for the Thomas and Friends show Shining Time Station for the Christmas special.

Wasn't that actually 1997 and not 1996? Because 4960 eventually did the doubleheader with 18 at sundown back in 1996. ^^'
