I saw 4960 yesterday, it was my first time seeing a Standard Gauge live steam locomotive in action. I was happy to see tons of people at the station to see the locomotive. Smelled like Burgers though cuz of the fuel I'm guessing
Very interesting and informative. While I have yet to visit the Grand Canyon Railway, I nevertheless possess a deep passion for trains and railroads, and live relatively close to where the sites of Baldwin Locomotive Works were located.
I sure learned a lot about 4960 that I didn't know before watching this. I already knew about her history and have ridden behind her myself when I attended the October 2022 Steam Saturday run with my Dad, Uncle, and Aunt, but I have questioned certain things about her within the last 5 years on it in general. And this video sure answered a lot of them. Can't wait for when part 2 comes out in the future, I'll definitely be looking forward to that video.
Yup, because she’d look so much better abandoned and rotting away. GCR saved her from scrap and modernized her. That’s going to affect appearance, but it’s still better than it sitting in a museum never to run again
I was thinking the same thing, but also happy its still running. But yeah it should have been rebuilt and stayed in the CB&Q appearance, even with it being modernized it still could have stayed the same.

Yes, it’s the vegetable oil fuel that has the unusual smell.
I just rode this beautiful Choo Choo! It was the best ❤

I think Part 2 will be more interesting for most people. It’s in the queue to release Wednesday morning.
@@ehadder I see thx
Very informative video! Will #29 ever run again?
It’s in the shop now for it’s 1472 day inspection
I'm hoping to see the 4960 one day in real life...
Oh...
She’s unrecognizable from her original appearance and looks like a plain old USRA Mikado. The Grand Canyon Railway RUINED her!
