I have a 99 Z28, 50,000 miles. Same paint scheme. Its immaculate. I dont drive it in rain or snow. The interiors are identical. Mine still has the plastic on the floor mats. Nice car you have
I've been waiting for this video, thanks. That paint looks absolutely beautiful now. I'm waiting for a warm day to paint correct my fourth gen TA. Good luck with the sale, unless you change your mind.
That blue Camaro would’ve been very nice to keep for yourself as like new car condition underneath I got a 94 convertible, all black on black and thinking about changing it to Brandywine candy and putting a ground kit on it with a different fiberglass hood keep it for my daily driver. Every day I go back up to Michigan and live in a retirement town to be My town cruiser.
Chris, checking out some of the older vids. I had a 1998 Camaro SS SLP 6 speed back in the day. It was my wife's daily driver and we also did some track days and Auto X with the car. Put about 75 k on it before trading it in for a 02 Pewter C5 Corvette. We also tracked that car and had a blast with it. Really enjoy all your videos.
The SLP hoods were notorious for slight color mismatch and orange peel. I ordered a brand new silver 02 SS and the hood was slightly yellow compared to the other panels. I was a detail freak and if I remember correctly, the hood strut flanges were flat silver. The factory didn’t clear the underside of hoods, but.. SLP did. So. I am guessing this car wasn’t damaged. You do this stuff. But I’m just remembering mine.
Yeah, besides the hood paint, something in the front is crooked, or the panel gaps & alignments need tweaking. [18:32] Bumper-hood gap looks a little wide. Along the top outside of the headlamps, the 1/4 panel is behind the front corner of the hood on the passenger side by about 1/8", & in front of the front corner of the hood on the driver-side by about 1/8". Also see that at [19:09] as well as the back of the hood & driver's 1/4 panel is out most visibly along the windshield, near the inspection & registration stickers. The hood looks to far to the rear by about 1/4" & also looks to be sitting up a little to high. But hey, nice job...
Love You Videos And Your Choice Of Cars" I Had A Brand New 2002 SS, And Had The Exact Same Problem With The Orange Peel On The Hood!! Fortunately It Was Of Course Under Warranty And The Dealership Body Shop Fixed It!!
I absolutely adore these. We don't get many US cars in Europe, but for whatever reason, Chevrolet tried to get into the Finish market in the late 90's. Because of that, there are actually relatively many of these on Swedish roads. I just love the look of them, they look like very modern sports cars. While I like the whole retro-pony thing, I'm hoping that GM take this direction again at some point in the future. I'm thinking of getting one, but hate that they're live rear axle.
Because GM was desperate to keep this model alive and Ford was eating them alive with the Mustang. And this body style was the result of them shoehorning a V8 into the design of what was supposed to be the all new '89 Pontiac Fiero, which Chevy had GM kill completely because it was going to out perform the Corvette in every way.
@@jakobholgersson4400 As a former Fiero owner and enthusiast I used to wonder and talk about the same thing with others. I think it probably would have looked very similar to the Firebird of these years, and being more affordable than say a Ferrari or Lamborghini and mid engined it would have been no less than fantastic and revolutionary. And if you like this body style I'm not knocking these Camaros/Firebirds, either. I was just letting you know fun facts.
@Chris Sullivan I just bought this car in NC! Can't believe I happened across the video on here. Do you have any additional information about the first owners and its life before you got a hold of it?
No way! The guy I sold it to was a dealer of sorts who said he was going to send it down on consignment to NC. I saw it on their website. It sure is a beautiful car. The older gentleman I bought it from bought it from a dealer, where I believe the first owner traded it in. Hope you enjoy it!
Beautiful car, I have a 2002 Berger SS myself. Can you measure the current ride height at the fenders? I've had to replace the original Eibach springs and their worse than the originals. I'm trying to determine how much they have settled versus what it was suppose too, looking for alternatives to the Eibachs. I would really appreciate your help and recommendations.
Alway love your vids. Even though I'm a Vette guy, but the Camaro after all is really the Corvette's cousin. What's not to like? Is this one already sold? Lastly, I am really, really looking forward to your next upload on the '69. Save the Wave🙋♂
I just bought one of these. It has the 35th anniversary flag decal package on it... Low mileage car (under 30k), garage kept, do you think taking the decals off would leave any markings? Doesn't look like much, if any paint fade. I know some residue will be left initially, just worried about the paint fading around the decals and being noticeable. Thanks!
You don’t think there’s a chance it’s just the classic F-body paint peeling? I’ve seen a lot of them do it…. which has basically any f-body that hasn’t been stored in a garage it’s whole life. And THANK YOU for taking the Z-28 decals off! I noticed it right at the beginning of the video when you washed the car while on the trailer and immediately thought “he’s surely going to take that off”. Haha. Good man! And P.S. I was ready to send a comment on here asking for your info to make an offer on this. I’m 34 years old now and my first car was a red 1999 Z-28 that I owned from 2005-2014 and I don’t know why I sold that car, so I’ve been looking for the right one to replace it for about a year now, but I want a red 2001 or 2002 SS, Manual, SLP, CME (center mount exhaust) and lastly, one that looks as good as this car with no more than 30,000 miles. I found one and it looked perfect, but upon doing research and even though I couldn’t find any damage or anything on Carfax, but the car had 9 owners with only 16,xxx miles. I’ve never seen a car with that low of mileage with that many owners so I couldn’t make myself buy it for the $32k asking price.
@@ChrisSullivan69 that’s what’s up man! I’ll be looking for it. It’s probably being the f-body Camaro was my first car that I loved and still love, so I’m definitely bias, but I love anything catfish Camaro related and really believe they are nicest looking muscle car of the 10-15 year period from the early to mid 90’s and early 2000’s. Also, I don’t know if you’ve ever thought about it or if it’s anything you’d be interested in, but I’ve had trouble finding anyone online who shows video instructions on how to build catfish Camaro’s from stock to 400hp, 500hp and so on as well as suspension, brakes, etc. Even not seeing any decent videos, the garbage ones I have seen seem to get a lot of views and a lot of questions, so if you ever consider building a f-body, I’m sure it would make some great content and get a lot of attention.
i have a 99 ss and honestly anything that is fiberglass the paint is different colours... and the clear coat is starting to peel. its light pewter metallic. not sure what the deal is
it is a Z28 AND an SS too? I thought they were different packages - how is it both? Looks like they painted that SS hood to color match a z28 car to me. I would have a hard time selling any of them tbh
Thanks. The badging is there. The wheels are there. Grille and everything else were options. It's a true SS based on the WU8 RPO code on the door and verified by SLP.
@@ChrisSullivan69 Yes this is a factory SS car, but does NOT have any SLP options. The rear spoiler on the car is part of the factory SS package and those wheels are factory SS wheels. ALL SLP cars had a secondary label from SLP when you opened the driver door. Any SLP options were indicated on this secondary label applied by SLP, whether it was optional SLP exhaust, optional wheels, bilstein suspension, auburn rear end, etc, to name a few of the SLP options from back in the day. That sticker proves a true SLP car and with only 18,000 miles that sticker would still be there.
And yes... great job on the paint correction and final detail. I like your videos on the F bodies and I'm an older lady that has owed a few SS's. Some being just factory SS cars with and WITHOUT any SLP options. Keep up with these F-body videos!
Your polish was too aggressive. Totally unnecessary with GM clearcoats. The SLP clears were more delicate on their body parts. I used a polish no stronger than a swirl mark remover when my '02 was a baby. I only use paint cleaners now. You should not use compounds ever. If you have heavy swirls or issues, try the megs polishes or a polish slightly above a swirl mark remover. The swirl mark remover and an orbital is all you need.
I thought u had 500k subs with the way this video was edited thats crazy bro u still gonna blow up
Thanks brotha!
I had a 35th anniversary with the full SLP package. Car ripped. Wish I still had it.
