What a deeply considered man Lloyd is. He could talk for hours and I would feel mesmerized the whole time. Paul is doing a wonderful service to everyone that watches, listens and learns of the techniques explored, and the great music that emanates from both of them.
I fell in love with the steel guitar in '74 when I met the man who built my steel, and I cut my teeth listening to Lloyd and Pete Drake, and the rest is history. I did meet Lloyd at the steel guitar convention in St. Louis, MO. and let me say, he is one fine gentleman, so nice, easy to speak with, generous with his encouragement for the instrument. To say the least, my life was changed.
Loved, Loved the whole 7 parts. Two of the 'Greats'. Lloyd Green's 'Venus Moon', is the most hauntingly beautiful piece of music I ever heard, especially from 'Mr. Steel'🙏
I was also lucky to spend a few minutes with Lloyd at dinner in Dallas and he shared with me how the session work was his heart. He and Paul are so awesome and so nice to share some of this knowledge of the steel. Lloyd and Paul are such gentlemen and where and always will be my favorite players and I could only dream of playing like them. I have a Lloyd Green guitar and I feel his presence every time I set down at it. I would love to have a Franklin Steel but that will be another year.........Thanks Zac for doing these shows...........
Zac did the great Truetone Lounge videos, these videos are from Modern Music Masters, the home of Paul's instructional course, The Paul Franklin Method. www.modernmusicmasters.com TRUETONE LOUNGE VIDEOS: Part One: th-cam.com/video/sTo0iRDB4Rs/w-d-xo.html Part Two: th-cam.com/video/dbFshOGoF4s/w-d-xo.html
I don't play steel, but, I'm a huge Lloyd Green fan. This is a treasure trove of information. Thank you, for making this possible and recording history that should be documented.
Many years ago I met him briefly. Watch 9:26 Lloyd came up to me, I'd never met him, I didn't know who he was. I was a young steel player. He stopped by me, gave me some good advise and left. I found out later who I had just talked to! Great guy.
What a wonderfully interesting event. The top two session steel players of the last two generations. Lloyd still brims with intelligent musical ideas. Amazing for an octogenarian.
What an absolute treasure trove of information! As one of Lloyd’s biggest fans, this is just amazing. The amount of incredible music these two men have blessed us with is immeasurable.
This kind of information, from a man like Lloyd Green being interviewed by an equally fabulous artist, PF, comes along so rarely, and is a true blessing for us steel guitar players who are all on the edges of our chairs. Thanks, guys.....for everything.
I love this set of interviews...Two masters in conversation with mutual respect for each others work and contribution to the instrument. Heart warming! Bravo!
This is immensely interesting, love the history and how Lloyd thought about "playing". You learn a bit of theory, then the instrument, then you put that to the back of your memory and just feel it all. I remember buying Lloyd and Pauls tuition cassettes when I first started learning.
Lloyd played on many records but my favorite is the legendary Sweetheart of the Rodeo with The Byrds. His playing was nothing short of spectacular on that record. A true master of that amazing instrument the pedal steel guitar.
It sure was great to hear Lloyd's take on a lot of things. Two absolute legends ,with a rather abrupt ending to the interview, however, cool. Both guys are such great examples of creativity and humility combined.
I first got to know the name Lloyd Green back in the '60s when I bought "Sweetheart Of The Rodeo" by the Byrds. HIs wonderful playing immediately caught my ear and I have been a lifelong fan ever since. I love his work on "Charlie Pride Live At Panther Hall" which I think is one of the greatest live albums of all time, in any genre. I also love his early work with Johnny Paycheck. There's so much more. Lloyd Green isn't just one of the greatest steel guitarists of all time, he's also one of the greatest musicians of all time.
How have I missed this up to now? I never appreciated what a genius Lloyd is until this interview. (and Paul for that matter) I feel better now that I heard him talk about (what is my screwed up right/left thing) the left-handed feel.
Two pedal steel legends. These guys have played on so many great records and tunes. You could probably add the late Buddy Emmons, John Hughey, Tom Brumley and you'd have a ring of honor.
To me the pedal steel is SO versatile... why aren't we hearing it more in every genre of music. Yes, even hip-hop! It's so emotional and beautiful. It surprises me that it hasn't been adapted more into pop music.
Could watch this all day long! Quite funny: Lloyd Green modestly explains he doesn't feel the need for the Franklin pedal at 48:20. 🤠 There's probably only one steeler in the world that dares saying so AND finds a proper work around.
Yes. That was a good one! He didn't call it the "Franklin Pedal" per se, but he described it accurately enough one could tell what he was talking about. Certainly Paul did.
Lloyd Green is the greatest pedal steel guitar player in the world 🌍 even Paul Franklin I just Lloyd Green 💚 would have made a DVD set on everything he knows on the pedal steel guitar what a treasure that would be even Paul Franklin what a treasure that would be a Christmas gift for both of them 2 legend pedal steel incredible guys we love them both
My first steel was that exact model he is playing. I traded it years ago not realizing exactly what i had. Fun fact: I bought it from Herb Remington before I realized who he was LOL.
Loyd talkin the early yrs as he carved his niche. The background required to accomplish just a bit of this seems overwhelming to a dabbler. But I'll keep at it and try not to remain intimidated.
I just love Lloyd Green and Paul Franklin! Two of my all-time favorites!!! Thanks to them both for doing this!!!
What a deeply considered man Lloyd is. He could talk for hours and I would feel mesmerized the whole time. Paul is doing a wonderful service to everyone that watches, listens and learns of the techniques explored, and the great music that emanates from both of them.
Two incredible steel guitar heroes! I'm a guitar player but these guys always inspired me as a human! Two geniuses!!!

We are so blessed to have this. The history, the technique, ......awesome!
Loved, Loved the whole 7 parts. Two of the 'Greats'. Lloyd Green's 'Venus Moon', is the most hauntingly beautiful piece of music I ever heard, especially from 'Mr. Steel'🙏
I had to listen to Lloyd's intro 5X's before I got to the video itself.Amazingly heartfelt,& emotionally moving.
Thank you for posting this.
One of the greatest musicians of all time in my opinion, I was so happy to find this !

LG is as fine a gentleman as he is a steel player. He’s also, clearly amazingly intelligent. What a treasure these sessions with him are. Thanks
The master gives away the secrets, 'finger-tip' blocking, and so much class. Love you Lloyd.
Two of some of the greatest most humble players together. Amazing!
I don't play steel, but, I'm a huge Lloyd Green fan. This is a treasure trove of information. Thank you, for making this possible and recording history that should be documented.
Yes! Lloyd is our corner stone! Thank you so much for doing this with Lloyd!
Lloyd is such a thoughtful and intelligent man.
Many years ago I met him briefly. Watch 9:26 Lloyd came up to me, I'd never met him, I didn't know who he was. I was a young steel player. He stopped by me, gave me some good advise and left. I found out later who I had just talked to! Great guy.
As a steel guitar player wow two masters thank you
What a wonderfully interesting event. The top two session steel players of the last two generations. Lloyd still brims with intelligent musical ideas. Amazing for an octogenarian.
How often do you get to see two of the best of anything together in one room? What a gift this is.
Amazing mind! Hearing him talk about his feelings on creativity and collective knowledge are so astute; almost mystic in a very practical way.
what an absolute gem of an interview

Lloyd has been a part of, and knows, so much history.
I love this set of interviews...Two masters in conversation with mutual respect for each others work and contribution to the instrument. Heart warming! Bravo!
Lloyd Green ROCKS! Paul Franklin brought out the best in him. Great video!
Paul is really a sweet man... he would make a wonderful friend!
So much to be learned here. A fantastic exploration of music for steel players, other musicians, and non-musician epicureans.
I haven’t played steel in years but watching these has me looking for one. Thank you both.
This is immensely interesting, love the history and how Lloyd thought about "playing". You learn a bit of theory, then the instrument, then you put that to the back of your memory and just feel it all.

Great stuff,2 of the finest and most brilliant players of all time!
Thank you.

It's interesting to listen to a musician talking about his experience of making music

A MUST SEE for anyone who plays PSG!!!!
It's so amazing and interesting how i wish to have one steel guitar good day
The LEGENDS ❤❤😊

Me too.
I don't remember his name but one of the Rolling Stones sometimes plays a pedal steel in the show, Paul Franklin payed with Dire Straits for a year!
Could watch this all day long! Quite funny: Lloyd Green modestly explains he doesn't feel the need for the Franklin pedal at 48:20. 🤠 There's probably only one steeler in the world that dares saying so AND finds a proper work around.

What more could I say about Lloyd Green & Paul Franklin that hasn't been said yet......?
Awesome!
Lloyd Green and Paul Franklin are like Willie Nelson meets Paul Bunyon, in terms of legacy. So cool to see.
‘’Meant to be shared”…..says a lot about the man beyond his musical genius.
Lloyd Green is the greatest pedal steel guitar player in the world 🌍 even Paul Franklin I just Lloyd Green 💚 would have made a DVD set on everything he knows on the pedal steel guitar what a treasure that would be even Paul Franklin what a treasure that would be a Christmas gift for both of them 2 legend pedal steel incredible guys we love them both
Where's part two ?
I could listen to you two guys for hrs ...
Part 2 coming on Sunday, June 3.
Modern Music Masters tank you ...
Part 2 is up now!
Amazing!!
what Lloyd said was so interesting, about all the possibilities was already in the music then
My first steel was that exact model he is playing. I traded it years ago not realizing exactly what i had.
Fun fact: I bought it from Herb Remington before I realized who he was LOL.
A 'Double-Whammy' eh? LOL
Thanks Son. Didn’t even know it was V day 🤷 Love you Kraig
Sorry about this. Truth is I’ve watched this a dozen times because it is so good. Sent a message before I got out of it
My favorite tune by Lloyd was "Quicksand"..
Anyone know what pickup lloyd is using no on his ldg
I believe he still uses a Lawrence 710
I don't think I'll EVER forgive Mr. Lloyd Green for making me give up trying to learn to play the PSG! LOL
I I had to pick one sound of America, this would probably be it
I wonder if Lloyd's playing is why Paul's slants are so good?
What pedal is Lloyd talking about to get that change on the song DIVORCE ?
Lever that raise E's to F's.
Modern Music Masters oh ok , thanks ...
000 Venus Moon
1:02:55 Remember When
Seldom seen studio with gear of extreme quality like that.
Man, what I'd give to own an LDG...
Wow. Not only did he play a complex melodies and riffs he did it on nothing but a 10 string 3&4.
I’d sure like to see if that red light is shining on that twin and see if he’s running his guitar through it.
He was. That's the studio's in-house amp.
