What does “too country” mean, lol?
Great temp I love it
This is excellent Paul 🙂
What's the tuning?
Bruce was a prominent sound on Ricky Skaggs' early stuff. Always sounded great.
He is the only one. Anybody who plays any kind of guitars should do it a deep dive on Paul Franklin you won't regret it
Two incredible steel guitar heroes! I'm a guitar player but these guys always inspired me as a human! Two geniuses!!!
Wow super vous chantez très bien
What a deeply considered man Lloyd is. He could talk for hours and I would feel mesmerized the whole time. Paul is doing a wonderful service to everyone that watches, listens and learns of the techniques explored, and the great music that emanates from both of them.
The tremolo you can get out of steel makes the instruments sound less artificial
Phenomenal playing!
Excellent as always Paul 🙂
100% Excellent
what an absolute gem of an interview
Pretty incredible , creative and imaginative
Pedal 8: raise 7 to C# and lower 8 to Bb. Pedal 9: lower 9 to E and lower 10 to A. Purpose: 13th chords Thoughts?
What is the name of this course ? maybe a link to it? Thanks
In the Description section under the video is all of the info you are looking for. Thanks!

Fantastic demo showing some great moves.
Cool!
I’ve been using the Keeley Caverns from time to time. Seems like they have similar features
I used the Mel-9 for ambient guitar soundscapes. When I recorded an acoustic album, I plugged my Viola Bass into it and played a solo cello part for a song. Very useful!
could you recommend a good handle to hold the bar? id like the bar where the puffy part of my hand would rest on the strings...stroke... so my fingers cant hold the bar normally. my neurologist recommended making some kind of handle to hold the tone bar.
Cool licks and simple but effective moves. It's the sound that makes it happen. Paul can do it all.
Nice stuff Paul! Enjoyed the time we jammed! Very tasteful!
Soooo gooood!
Paul PLEASE tell me what Volume Pedal do you use? Thanks Brother! Jeff Mercer
no clue how I missed part 2... thanks for bringing us along.
This video has helped me in a lot of ways because after six years away from the steel guitar, I decided to start playing it again, and because of cerebral palsy in my left hand, I wondered what size bar would work for me. I decided to change from stainless steel to polymer because with cerebral palsy in my left hand, the stainless steel bar would slide around, so I'm now using a polymer bar , and I find that the polymer bar works best for me. Paul Franklin is one of my musical heroes and this video is very inspiring!
You could replace the organ at all the Pro Baseball games!😂
I have this pedal. What makes it so versatile is the wet - dry mix. All 9 settings are very usable.
Loving these demos! Has Paul tried the SYNTH9 pedal? Very curious to hear how it sounds with pedal steel.
I would like to hear that as well! Several years ago I was beta testing a pitch-to-synth converter and my friend brought his pedal steel over and we hooked it up to my Minimoog. Just as weird sounding as you might imagine! I think a video clip is somewhere either here or instagram.

3:07 Oh my god
Awesome and who would have thought that the Mel 9 could be triggered by a steel guitar?!
Great demo and lovely playing, sir! 👌😎👍 I know this probably just comes down to semantics, but my understanding of why the Mel9, and other similar pedals from Electro Harmonix, "tracks" so well is because it doesn't have to track pitch at all? I believe the magic is done with a combination of series and parallel processing done on the input signal like EQs, resonators, harmonizers, delays, wave shapers, etc. etc. so there is no delay or flakiness with a processor trying to detect and track pitch to then synthesize new sounds. That's why chords are handled so well?
Very nice. Sir!
Anybody knows who is the brand of this volume pedal ,I want it ! ;))) or some similar
It's a Franklin pedal.
The flutes remind me of some old movie but I can't think of which one.
The wizard of oz
Thank you!
I have the bass9 and key9. I play guitar and the 9 series are really cool. What you're doing is awesome. I guess I'll like and subscribe. Thanks. 😎🤓
Wow C-6 is so beautiful; natural for jazz
Way more versatile than a real melotron.
Paul… what kind of Volume Pedal are you using? Is it a Franklin maybe one your poppa made?
Yes, it is a Franklin pedal.
I ain't taking lessons, but I sure love Ralph Mooney, AND Paul Franklin. R. I. P. Ralph Mooney Waylon 🎸🇨🇱Jennings Wynn Stewart Buck🎸🇨🇱Owens Merle🎸🎻Haggard
We are so blessed to have this. The history, the technique, ......awesome!
I teared up and get goosebumps down my arms when I hear this
Consider this: the faster you play, the less you say.
Pay it forward.. i remember when you played with Phil Baugh at the Hall of Fame ..fun times for sure.
This is the greatest conversation that I have ever listen too. It’s so from the heart it make feel you are their with them
