I make a similar version. I blanch my broccoli, I also use sunflower seed & cashew , I use 1/2 Mayonnaise 1/2 Natural yoghurt , I use a shallot it less sharper than onion , I use currants they’re cheaper here , no cranberries & no bacon 🥓 or vinegar . Delicious thanks for sharing yours 😋
@@sheilahtaylor3005 nothing replaces that bacon flavour but you could try nutritional yeast for a cheesy flavour; or instead of cashew I also like roasted tamari Almonds , gives a Smokey Bbq flavor.
YOU SAVED MY LIFE!! I was asked to bring Aunt Marie's Broccoli Salad, but her recipe wasn't my fave! Shhhh🤫don't tell, but I'm bringing Auntie Kim's instead!! BLESS YOUR ❤️ HEART!! Lisa btw...you are sooo funny, and I enjoyed the vid!
I make one with a very similar dressing but using strawberries, grapes and sunflower seeds. Going to try your aunt's version. Maybe my husband will like it better, because it has bacon!
Yes for the dressing...my favorite. We call it my Grandma Pauline salad dressing...and you simply cannot measure except generally, it a taste test for that dressing 🙂
Obvouisly fresh brok- koli would be ideal. But can one used frozen broccoli ( I Blanch it after. Brokoli is expensive here and when you do find it, it"s not as fresh as it shoulbe. Any ideas please. Thank you
I make a rendition of this salad but instead of the green onion I use red onion and instead of the cashew I use sunflower seeds I also add sharp cheddar cheese shreds but what I think really makes this salad amazing is all the different flavors in a single bite
My name is Kim & I make a Broccoli Salad that is almost identical to this one! The difference...I use sunflower seeds instead of cashews. EVERYONE loves mine, too! 😊 Thanks for sharing your version. I need to try it.
@@AdventuresinEverydayCooking I make it too...last time I made it I used grapes and pecan in mine. I also always season my salad dressing with lots of pepper, sea salt, garlic, chives,...whatever catches my fancy! I think it brings it up a notch...but, that's just me. The one they made looks delish and your sounds awesome too! That's the beauty of these salads...we can all put our own twists on it, and it will turn out amazing!
Try adding some little squares of cheddar cheese. I don’t grate it cuz it seems to get too wet but the little chunks seem to stand up to it and it’s still nice and hard the next day if you have some leftover. Recipe same as mine though. Very delicious. TY
@@AdventuresinEverydayCooking Too each their own. For cheese livers, go ahead and add it. For me personally, I think you can taste all the flavors better without the cheese. I personally dont think it needs it. But, that's just my opinion.
First the chatter, then you put the tray over your aunts hand while she had the chopping knife scooping the food in her other hand. I really hope that tray with bacon grease was not hot. You touched your hair, then while your aunt is working on the dressing you moved the bowl. You are dangerous in the kitchen with other people. Can’t even finish watching it.
Made this for the first time oh my it's fabulous ❤
My tip for breaking up the nuts is to put them in a plastic baggie then use a rolling pin on them. No mess, nothing to wash. Just toss the baggie.
Thanks for the tip!
My name is Kim too and love her broccoli salad
Oh my that looks good! Thanks Aunt Kim, I so love you guys!!
This looks very good. Thank you for sharing it.
You're welcome! We have it at every family event!
Loving your family connection. Sounds delicious.
My favorite salad, thank you ladies!
Woohoo!! Thanks Aunt Kim from Australia! I'm going to make this for my family over the Christmas season.
I hope they enjoyed it! Hope you had a great Christmas and I'm wishing you a happy new year!!

Ohhhh! I think I would really enjoy a softer broccoli in this recipe. Maybe I'll try your version next time!
I was thinking about blanching the broccoli. Also I'm vegetarian and was thinking of how to replace that taste of bacon. Thx
Are the cashews roasted/no salt?

@@nancyyoder7116 if using salted cashew omit adding salt as seasoning & taste salad to decide if you need more salt .
This is making me Soooooooo hungry, will be on my shopping list for next week!
Yeah Kim ❤
Gonna try this 😊
I made this salad. It's amazing alright. Thanks so much Auntie Kim and Heather. ❤

Sure is a cute toucan! Guess this goes with the spellbinders AD!
Made this with a few variations, added sunflower seeds, red onion and pepitas. Thinking of adding some french fried onions as a topper. TY
Oooooooh love the French fried onion idea!!

There’s an old fashioned invention called an apron…it works very well! But I love watching your mishaps and messing up your clothes! LOL ❤️❤️❤️
🤣🤣
Looks good. You touched your hair and then touched the bacon and the nuts. Gloves or lots of hand washing.
Yah, usually this food is just for me and my family. They don't mind. Or maybe, they don't get to mind ;) LOL
Mine has sunflower seeds
This looks fabulous but Please wear gloves when you chop the nuts for others other than yourself. Specially now a days.
