He is terrific, but he learns from other youtubers who aren't as famous, and then makes their solutions more bite-sized, edited, and aesthetically-pleasing. No question he brings value, but it's always good to credit who you learned your tips and tricks from.

A quick tip: create a measure in powerbi for selected value, and pass that to powerapps. Like this you can add an overlay message in the powerapps, where if the passed measure value is blank or erro you can sho a message with "no item selected".
like this you will not have always the "first item" of the list ;)

Great video, I ended up building something similar about 6 months ago! The data source I was using was import only and what I did was included a visual that appeared if the data set had been refreshed in the last 2 hours that said to the user not to refresh the data. Fortunately my power bi report wasn't having data entered it was more having dynamic parameters that were stored in OneDrive.

    Hi BAS.
    I really like your videos.
I often run into a problem when I need to move the filter context to another page. But detailing is not applicable in my case, because it transfers all the filters of the original page, and not the one I need.
For example, I want to highlight on the first page a certain product that customers bought, but I don’t want to transfer the filter where and when they bought it. Those. I only need to sync the filtered ClientIDs.
It would be great if you cover this topic in your videos.
Thank you very much for your work!

Great video. I have worked with this myself and I have expirienced some of the limitations.
If your dataset contains large amounts of data it will not fit into the powerbiIntegration Object. The limit looks like it is 2000 records.
If you include multiple fields from your power bi model into the powerapps visual then each unique combination of values in those fields will be represented by a record in the powerbiIntegrationObject and the limit is still 2000 records.
This means that you will very fast run up against this limit and you will get no warning when you exeed it. The data will just be missing in the integration object.
Also when using direct query you have to be really carefull or prefornance will suffer.

Could you tell me if it's possible to use power apps to write back to let's say Excel or Smartsheet all the report data plus user's input IF the source of that report data is coming from Snowflake. I know that SF is a premium connector so would such a workaround be possible at all? If yes, would that just require Excel or Smartsheet as data source for power apps to be selected? Thank you!

Hi Bas, great solution. thanks.. I am working on a report that has a SQL source. Because users dont have Premium licence, they cant write back to SQL. They will write back to a form in sharepoint. from here it can update the SQL. How do i load the app with the line i have selected. ie. data from PowerBIIntegration source?
is this a good work around?

Hi Bas, thanks for showing us such an interesting workflow. I wonder if Power Platform allows to add a customization: to enable the editing form only for a user (or for a group of users), in the report, and let the rest to read-only the table

This is good. I am also using xls from one drive and able to update data however it does not reflect I power bi for about 30-50 sec even if I do manual refresh multiple times. Is there any work around for this or any setting needs to change

Great explanation ! You are the only one explaining clearly. What I do not understand is if I have users in parallel logged in the system, if I can use the same Planning tool, to plan for example on different cost centers. So they do not plan on same data, but each one will input data on different cost centers. Can this be done in parallel ? So is the PowerBI application a central planning tool, or everyone should have for example the powerBi application sitting separate on a sharepoint folder dedicated to him/her ?

Great video.. thnkas a lot... even a year after it is published:
I have a questiion: the source data (excel) that I want to write back is connected to an dataflow and the report is connected to this dataflow. As consequence, the refresh would need to run in a sequence... Write back data to source excel --> refresh dataflow --> refresh dataset. Is there any intelligent solution for this?
    Thx a lot

    Hi,
This is really cool. After seeing your video, I am wondering if I can make something like a quote form with multiple line items in powerbi. Do you think this is something I can build using this tutorial? Love to take this offline if it helps to explain it.

One question, hope someone can help me out.. The app isn't sharp in my Power BI. Something with the size I suppose, but I cannot change the size. Anyone advise on how to handle this?

Hello Sir, I really like your teaching method. its amazing. you have a great knowledge. sir i have a small question though. the issue i encountered. say if you have an empty NULL cell in sql server table you can write it with power apps in power bi. but the problem is once you write something you can change it with some other value but you cant make it NULL again. I will be thankful if you can help in this sir. Regards.
