Flood June 17, 1990

The first of many floods at the CyRide garage occurred on Sunday morning, June 17, 1990. We only had about two hours warning, not enough time to sandbag the building. We moved all the buses out to the parking lot by the Physical Plant. There was about 12 to 15 inches of water in the office and storage area.
We learned that we needed to prepare for future floods and made many changes that prevented any water in the building. Physical improvements were made and procedures to protect the north doors with sandbags were established. No water entered the building in subsequent floods until after 2006.
