The Hungering deep was one of my favorite events in this game, it introduced us to a very likeable character, Merrick, who a good number of us were glad to see back with the hunter's call. This npc is the sole reason my group spent hours patrolling the area and cargo running to save golden sands, not for the outpost or because "good/evil", just Merrick.
I hope this adventure is a blast, but if not, well, it doesn't matter. We'll run it as many times as needed, that's our guy you have there.
I may not know who you are, but we fellow Merrick loyalists would fight tooth and nail for Merrick’s sake. Let’s go out and save a hunter’s ghost!

@@ltstanovich There is no reason for them rats to be on there just hogs more performance, and causes lag for a lot of people, Had my friend turn them off doesnt lag as much.
@@UnIdentifiedMan Sure, it's an entirely optional feature and doesn't add anything gameplay-wise! I personally have it on because my performance still suffices for how I play then. I enjoy the company when solo slooping. But it would be nice for the people that have the feature enabled to be able to reskin the rats to crabs or other scuttlers, plus it's free money for Rare :p

The “Hook, Line and Sunk” doesn’t usually sail heavily armed.
But for the original hunter, an exception can and will be made.

The PR agency I work for does a large majority of the strategic planning for SoT’s promotional materials (Microsoft is a major client). I’ve become friends with a project manager and an earned media specialist assigned to Sea of Thieves. They told me they’re adding a new Sea of Thieves billing code for the 2023 SoW, which means Rare’s internal Comms team wants to promote something divergent enough from standard update promotions to warrant an entirely new SoW. Hopefully that means promoting an animated series! In all likelihood though, it has something to do with merchandising. But one can always hope!

It would be great if the brethren were strong enough to warrant a reaper Athena team up in order to save the Sea of thieves who knows what the future holds
I love how the newer trailers are more like cutscenes rather than trailers and it just adds so much character and extra lore that is just so *Rare* in other games. I mean like sure older trailers were kind of cutscenes but they had no real relevance to the story. This one shows conflict between characters, personality traits, stakes and humour whereas, for instance, the cursed sails trailer wasn't notable. Just some skeletons on a ship putting up a banner or something.
I came here for the trailer and left with BREAD...
I was not disappointed.

This is Merrick’s Irgun story to him becoming the new Pirate Lord.
Also, FINALLY SEA DOG’S ARENA IS GETTING LOVE! Me and my friend would always go to that island to end our voyages and hang out but now we can really do something there!

Merrick is one of my favorite characters in Sea of thieves.
I feel like she is truly taunting ME and my crew to come save Merrick. That’s awesome.

@@JamesGRaptor yeah, its a pirate game but arena was deleted for spawnkills, toxicity, and bugs. The same issues had on adventure. Arena would be the place for acting an asshole while others choose to ablige in other activities

Love how Merrick's a ghost and yet he can still get hurt by being thrown down some stairs. Ghost logic is perfect logic.
I mean you can hurt them with just a sword, a normal sword, so I can imagine falling down stairs still hurts them

I hope we get to actually do something this time. I like the ideas of these adventure so much and I'm down for doing a story based thing but the actual gameplay for these events has been so unfathomably boring so far. Except for the Shrouded Ghost one, that kicked ass.
It's a pattern that goes trough the whole game.
The story writers are amazing. The art team is amazing. The score is amazing.
The gameplay team however, drags them all down. 💀
I mean Shrouded deep was the Finale of the first Arc and hunters cry is the Finale of the current one, so I think this adventure will kick ass as well
@@reudiger2001 who knows if it trully is. we might save Merrick but the Brethren on the other hand is still here. and It would be surprising to defeat the brethren as we kill Merrick. I think that's just the beginning of the Brethren arc.

Nah, you'll light some beacons to lower a couple of bridges and fight a few phantoms, that is it, all while avoiding trolls that will spawn camp you in the sea of the damned until the adventure automatically fails you because you took too long
I just really hope this is going to see some flameheart story progression. He's my favorite character!
it might just be me there was something about the way duke looked and delivered his line that make it feel like he's starting to see the matrix,
like he looked so down as if he knew that they (the players) were going to win because that is how the scrip goses
and from all his loses of the bilge rats, davy jones and soon to be this its like knows that the players are not going to lose, not because they are smart (hell no)
or even strong as you can be one blundered and hit-reg is trash.
But more because he now sees they have infinite lives to keep trying and a power beyond this world (Rare) has already scripted the outcome before it even began.
like go back and watch the 1st trailer and hear how confident he is and act to now (what is only a few hours later in game time)

Ooooh a version of the Sea Dog's Tavern is now in the Sea of the Damned.... and the Castaway said that the Sea of the Damned is made from memories. So does that mean that DeMarco is there somewhere... or he was there? Or is this Amaranta's doing? But the Dark Brethren are now using it as a fortress to keep Merrick prisoner - and we will have to storm it to rescue him? The plot thickens.
Great work Rare as always. Can't wait until it goes live.
i really like how wanda is getting the "main villain" spotlight. building a whole fleet is not a simple "minor villain" task

did this truly took one act of benevola to make that fisherman the Flame's nemesis. Reaper words on that one the fisherman got in our way granted but I'm pretty sure this was all more orchestrated by the green jolly ectoplasm bubble. We need to get back to our main focus against the Pirate Lord cause who's gonna take a bloodthirsty cult seriously when the only thing they boycott is an old bard with a big happy family.

Merrick's speech left me breathless and with tearfull eyes. As many of you, I too have known Merrick from the very first second he set foot into Sea Of Thieves. I will not let him perish.

This whole event is proof positive that Rare either actively does not care or actually likes the fact that their game is swarming with griefers, and thinks its funny that some gamers have limited time that routinely gets wasted when we make the mistake of booting up. Add this to the ONSLAUGHT of FOMO they are using to finance their game and try and coerce people back in.
This game had such promise in the early days Rare, and you all have tripled down on every aspect that makes it unplayable.

I've been waiting for Hunter's Call to get some love. Maybe after this arc we'll actually have emissary flags, voyages...who am I kidding? Hunting Megs still counts as "The Feared" instead of "The Hunter"...

Sea of thieves DEV team if you are reading this we need more love for the hunters call. More fish, rare storm event where you fight a giant sea serpent and more medium creatures to hunt like sharks and whales, but these spawn randomly like shipwrecks and you need to harpoon them so they don't get away.
It would be awesome to assist the Dark Brethren in some way! Waiting for the Blacksmith's return!

I missed the past 2 events/stories because of work and family stuff. Why can't we play these anytime like a story mission? I just want to play these when I have time, not for a a few days!
You say there should be a kinda telltale section and to have these replayable whenever we want, it could be cool but some of these have an influence on the game world, like the fight for golden sands, i do however wish I could play the shrouded ghost again cause i never had the opportunity to do the final encounter of that adventure

SOT upping the game yet again! We just keep coming back.
Adventures have been pretty disappointing. You just sail around a few islands for like an hour and watch some cutscenes. Not really looking forward to them anymore.

Adventures are story driven side missions that you can do they're not required you don't have to do them they go in three episode arcs and the third one is the good one the first two are usually fact-finding missions if you don't like Lore you're not going to enjoy it
