lol yeah I remember originally you thought this was like, Umun'Arath or something? But Ghaul actually makes more sense in my opinion, Ghaul was something Caiatl idolized like a divinity, and not without reason. Not only was he a great warrior who has a pretty classic rags to riches story, but he held the Cabal and the Empress in particular to a very high standard that he himself had risen to! Ghaul is her nightmare because she respected him, and because she feared his disapproval.
Ironically, Ghaul was everything her father wasn’t, which is why Caital admired and respected Ghaul. I feel by the end of this season, Caital will learn from the failures of her predecessors, and find balance in restraint and vigilance. The opposite of the things that drove Calus and Ghaul to ruin: obsession and complacent gluttony/sloth.
After one of my Nightmare Containment clears earlier today, I heard dialogue where Caiatl asked Zavala what the objects he offered during Eris Morn’s ritual were. He said they were knitting needles, and asked if Cabal practiced such a craft. Caiatl didn’t know what knitting was, and Zavala said he could show her. I need someone to make artwork of this. NOW.
@@dr.deathdefying1386 The man tried to defy death by becoming a lightbearer, in effect, spitting in the face of that very ideal, but keep in mind that this isn't exactly the same Ghaul that we fought, this is a corrupt, idealized version from Caiatl's mind, her feelings and rage against Ghaul made manifest, meaning that this would probably be pre-red war Ghaul with a side of Caiatl's rage fused into him, making him that much more cruel.
Caiatl chose peace and cooperation with humanity over subjugating us. In many ways, this is very similar to what her father had tried to do with other species. As a result her father and his ways have been a constant reminder of what happens when you allow peace and complacency to stagnate you, failure. Ghaul as her nightmare is very fitting, as her nightmare constantly tells her that her way, the way of peace, is a legacy of failure, that she is indeed like her father, something that must terrify her. The nightmare urges her that she must return the Cabal to their old roots, subjugate us under their heel, instead of treating us like equals. Anything less would be considered failure to her empire. However, Empress Caiatl is a mix of both her father’s peaceful ways and Ghaul’s more warlike tendencies. These two outlooks have shaped her into becoming a magnificent leader that prioritized the survival of her civilization and empire. Thanks to her decisions her empire is surviving and arguably in a stronger position to strike against the Hive and Black Fleet, she not only has an Iron Lord now serving on her council, but she even has the loyalty of the Vanguard and it’s guardians at her beck and call, not to mention the allegiance of the House of Light and a potential allegiance with the Awoken. These are achievements that neither Calus nor Ghaul could achieve. Calus offered riches, but the guardians who served him did not do so for loyalty and all eventually abandoned him. Ghaul attempted to conquer and use the light against us and as a result was destroyed by us. Caiatl offered us strength, a new sense of unity, and her loyalty.
@@shorddy1668 As Caiatl and some lore pointed out, the Cabal civilization eroded into decadence, complacency, and opulence. Numerous rebellions were taking place, even as the Psions gained “equal” status. And it’s been hinted that Calus himself was being influenced by Ahemkara and Hive Magic.
Caital was probably hestitant to seek conflict with us after the news of the red war, and Ghual’s failure. That, on top of the Hive and Xivu Arath decimating Torobaital must have shown Caital that the Cabal’s old warmongering ways of conquest can be self destructive in the end, given she’d experienced first hand what the countless worlds the empire may have subjected felt like when her people conquered them. She probably learned to be more empathetic, and that consistent conquest, and opulent complacency both are not the way to rule. She may yet forge a new path for the Cabal, a third one less traveled. Who better to help her forge that future and this alliance than an Iron Lord? Knights of old, wielders of flame and iron?
@@Lethal_Giggles That's honestly kind of interesting, especially the hive and ahamkara magic part. Be crazy if Calus was being manipulated by the darkness the whole time.
I love it how Caiatl speaks highly of him. It wouldnt make sence if she shared our relationship with Ghaul. He was an idol to her and our bane. I defeated him without dying for her sake because how torn she is and for me, because he attacked my city and my people.
I really love how much they are developing Caiatl as a character, for someone who is such a relatively recent addition to the cast. Mithrax is great too, but Caiatl is a much more complicated and therefore interesting character, at least as of right now in the story. It's not easy to be the leader who has to steer your people through a crisis by changing 'the way it's always been' and finding a new way forward. The way she both tries to preserve Cabal culture as much as she can, while also recognizing its past weaknesses and trying to improve on them, is honestly really inspiring. One of my favorite lines between her and Ghaul is where he basically tells her she should be ashamed for allying with the Guardians after they defeated the Cabal, and claimed she was doing it because she was a coward and afraid of us. Her response was "There's a difference between fear and respect, Ghaul. You used to know that."
Caiatl is more complex just because she’s had 3 seasons of development, whereas Mithrax has really only had 1. I’m guessing he’ll be relevant again soon since he’s helping Ana bring back Rasputin.
@@gavo7911 Yeah, would definitely be nice to see him get more development. Right now his character basically boils down to "good Fallen". I mean, he has more personality than that but there's not a lot of internal conflict, I'd like to see him fleshed out some more. Variks too, for that matter, in the realm of Fallen allies.
Idk if is worth mentioning but I love the moment when you help the Cabal loyalist to Caiatl right before the "Sever" moment, it make me feel powerful, somehow the idea of having your Cabal allies like an army marching to the front lines, it feel so chilling
Empress Caiatl is easily one of my favorite Destiny characters at the moment, and as someone who immerses myself into the world and narrative, it feels like an honor to help her resolve her insecurities and trauma. It make me hope that after the Witness has been defeated, we will have the opportunity to help her liberate Torobatl. She is a wonderfully complex character, with strengths and weaknesses rarely seen in female characters in video games. A natural and charismatic leader who struggles with imposter syndrome and feels that she has to stick to tradition to keep her people safe, even when she knows it would make it worse. She's selfless and compassionate, but determined and even vengeful. She cares for her people, such as freeing and uplifting the underclasses of the Empire and tending to her wounded soldiers. She uses her power in the interest of her people. She can use diplomacy and negotiation instead only force and manipulation. In our alliance against the Witness, I hope Caiatl will join us on the other side.
Small nitpick but she freed, but did not uplift the psions. That’s why many of the old guard psions betrayed her. They only had TITLES to cling to. There’s some social commentary in there
Having been through childhood cancer with my youngest, I’m glad St Jude’s exists for those who live in the US. What they do for children affected by cancer and rare diseases is the closest to the experience I had with the nhs in the uk. Cancer is hard enough, Childress cancer is worse, without having to worry about finances. Thanks byf and community for supporting this cause
With the way they wrote their interaction in Rage it kinda makes sense. But I so so wish we got to see at least a tiny hint of Umun’Arath and Caiatl’s feelings of her part to play in Torobatl’s fall.
At the end of the interaction she mentions not being the same person after Torobatl, and Ghaul agreed by saying that's where she'll stay. How is that *not* a tiny hint to you? Mind blowing.
@@GusJenkinsElite I mean mentioning her by name. Umun’Arath materializing in front of her telling her she didn’t have the strength to kill her when it mattered.
It's totally petty, but my experience with the mission made me realize that I definitely want to see Cabal lightbearers. Just to spit in Gary's face. The Traveler giving it's gift to the followers of a Worthier leader than him. What he tried and to take and failed to keep.
Your initial theory of Umun being her nightmare was interesting, but Ghauls theme played during the reveal, and it had Ghauls armor, and his face, so... Judging by the story Umun'arath wasn't really that close to Caiatl, while Ghaul was her combat trainer and her father's right hand. So she would interact with him a lot.
Umun’Arath was literally her second-in-command and best friend Not to mention Caiatl killing her and casting her into the soul fire completed the ritual to let Xivu run wild on Torobatl. I chalk Umun’Arath not appearing this season to Bungie not wanting to design her in-game. Which meh is fine. Ghauls interaction with Caiatl this week was great tbh I just think it’s such a shame we never got to see her or fight her 😔
@@shooterDisease Yeah but since she only appeared in a lore tab I see why they wouldn't include a new character when they have one that everyone knows. Except for new players, thanks Bungie...
Do you think Banshee finished that Cabal sized Dead Messenger for Caiatl yet? Seems like she needs it soon if she plans to take her vengeance and put some of her inner demons to rest.
byf never feel the need to apologize for taking a mental health break, we know how hard you work on this content and you should take however long you need to keep yourself healthy
Thanks for the video, Mr. Byf. The nightmare of Ghaul was my biggest anticipation this season, right up there with Uldren’s nightmare. But I think what we’re missing is seeing what the Cabal themselves think of Caital, from the general citizens to the military forces. I imagine it’s a sharp split between those who favor her, plenty who disapprove after their humiliating defeats under her leadership in-game, and many who are generally unsure. We’ve had lore about the Cabal’s past but rarely about them in the present, and that would help with all of this. I could be wrong and there’s lore stories I missed that cover exactly that. Plus, I doubt all it will take is a single rousing speech to sway everyone to her side. The Cabal demand action more than words, and this could be an ongoing storyline for Caital for years trying to keep her people together.
despite doubting herself, Caiatl is the best leader the Cabal ever had. Calus focused to much on enjoyment of life that led to the military being weakened, thus Ghaul pulled off the coup with most of Calus's highest ranked joining in. But Ghaul's flaw was that he turned the Cabal Empire into a machine for endless war, endless war is not sustainable, eventually you'll burn too fast through resources and over stretch yourself. But Caiatl is different because of the fate of her home, if she had gone with Ghaul to our system she'd most likely have died like Ghaul at our hands. The closest the Cabal have ever come to wining were times when they took our light like Ghaul or the assassins who tried to kill Zavala, or tried to crash the Almighty into the City, saved thanks to us arming Rasputin to smash it. But Caiatl is different in that she saw that their war path gave Xivu Arath the strength to destroy their home. Thus when she arrived in Sol, she negotiated for the Guardians to join the Cabal. Her mistake was ordering us to bow to her will. But she saw an open war would be futile with us, and so the Right of Proven began, we challenged her potential commanders recruited from the Red Legion and eventually lost the final challenge. Thus we signed a ceasefire and occasionally cooperated, she grew closer to us by seeing how we handled problems like the Endless Night and the attacks on the Dreaming City, during Witch Queen we formed an official alliance with her. She has since grown to respect us more as allies. She's seen the strength of working with others rather then constantly fighting everything, even though the Red Legion no longer wants to join us. But that's because the Red Legion was mostly loyal to Ghaul, even after his death, they continued many schemes to defeat us, and will continue to fight us to the end. I'm certain in the next Sever mission she'll finally see this, that by allying with us, she and her people have a chance to survive the arrival of the Witness. We will stand and survive together, or die fighting together, what's more honorable of an end then that?
Caiatl is stuck between a rock and a hard place. She understands that the old ways of the Cabal must be set aside and that her people must adapt if they are to survive. However at the same time, she is disgusted with herself at what's that cost her and her people. Instead of coming to Sol to subjugate us, she was forced into signing and Armistice and agree on peace between the City and the Ascendancy, an act that cost her the Red Legion and some of her forces to defect. Then there was the events of Witch Queen and Risen, where she had to look the other way 2 times. The first was when we attacked that Cabal base on Mars(not really our fault but still) and the next when Crow accidently killed a close friend and Confidente of Caiatl. Cabal law demanded a life for a life, and Instead of Crow paying for that, Caiatl accepted Saladin's offer. To the Cabal, this all just looks like Caiatl groveling at our feet. They are a culture too steeped in pride to easily accept humility and would rather wage war then make peace with anyone they would contact to be equal. So, the burden of leadership weighs heavily on Caiatl, whether she admits it or not.
There was a Playstation article from one of the Bungie narrative team members who discussed why Ghaul is important to Caiatl, I really liked their explanation as well. They also go into detail about inspirations behind this story and such, very interesting insights.
I used Ward of Dawn for my Titan runthrough of Sever - Rage, and Deadshot Golden Gun for my Hunter. Strange that Ghaul duplicated himself. Say, Ever consider using footage from your Hunter for these videos.
I really hope that Zavala helps Caiatl realize what a worthy leader she is. Their friendship/maybe-love is so endearing to watch, that it would be amazing to see Zavala (who just went through a lot of shit) be brave in the face of it, so Caiatl can too.
This season has hit really hard as a person with long term mental health struggles. Sometimes I drown in the Deep sometimes I rise from it. If there is one thing this season has done right with it's story telling, it's telling stories of trauma in a believable way, reminding people that overcoming trauma is easier said than done and showing that it is always easier when you have the support of people that really care.
I like how in Zavala’s mission Grief at the end Zavala broke down and is lamenting his choices Eris tells us to ‘bring him back before any more damage is done’. Telling us that emotional damage can be just as damaging if not more than physical damage. Especially to an immortal.
While Umun Arath may have been a more compelling choice, I think Ghaul is very appropriate too, especially considering that Calus is somewhat behind the nightmares this season too. Puppeting his old nemesis against his daughter seems like exactly the kind of thing he'd get a kick out of. From a character perspective, we know she isn't insecure about her leadership compared to Calus and now we get to see how it shapes up to Ghaul's, a style which is a bit closer to her style. I'm also just happy to get to hear more of his sexy voice.
Caiatl is rapidly becoming my favorite character in Destiny, and that's up against some stiff competition. She's thoughtful, reflective, and compassionate, but also a ferocious badass with a cool voice and awesome armor. The whole package. I've been loving the lore on aliens an their cultures that has been coming out in the recent seasons, between the Eliksni and the Cabal.
I haven't watch one of your videos since 2016... Still good to know that you have that awesome outro quote. "Per audacia ad astra. I'll see you starside"
My theory is that Cayde will be our nightmare along with him being Ikora’s as well. My logic being we “failed” cayde. We were incredibly close with him in terms of lore and in a sense we are his living legacy. For obvious reasons the play character doesn’t take over as hunter vanguard being that we aren’t necessarily a hunter. I feel we’d have the regret that we couldn’t save him in time. But of course there’s always the chance we don’t have a nightmare. Our guardian typically has overcome every challenge we’ve come across. Therefore we have nothing to personify as a nightmare
I genuinely don’t think we have one. In the cutscene where Zavala and Crow gave something at the ritual as a symbol of their past trauma, not only did our guardian give nothing, they didn’t even flinch once the ritual started. Not only that, but the Sever missions are structured in such a way where they (and by extension, us as players) do all the heavy lifting in terms of combat. If they/we are gonna commit to a severance, then who would defend us in the middle of it? The only amount of legitimacy for our guardian having a nightmare is Eris saying in the first mission “I don’t think this is the Guardian’s nightmare” when we saw Safiyah, but even 1 line of dialogue isn’t proof of such a thing.
I believe somehow with our stronger Darkness abilities with Deepsight this expansion, it gives us some resistance to having any Nightmares plague us. Even if they did, they don’t stay around long. We killed plenty since Shadowkeep. But this is just hypothetical. Not a for sure thing.
I didn't trust Cital for far to long. But since witch Queen I have started to trust her more. The fact she hasn't realised she's a great leader is really sad. She idolises Gauhl who had no honor (remember all the human bones in the warbeast pens) and died by our hands. Cital is his opposite, I hope she understands what makes her a great leader next week. I honestly think both her and mithrax if they are killed in the future would both be their races first guardians. And that would really be ironic since Gauhl stole the light.
It’s strange. I always imagined back In the day my guardian occasionally using the tribute hall as a sort of pseudo gunsmithing bay before my current day head cannon of his rundown gun and ghost shell store, and back then I’d imagen the conversations that might erupt from the emperor noticing his work being far more effective but always having particular look. Yet I find those head cannon conversations being almost more applicable to caitel. And now a days I sometimes head cannon him going on a occasional patrol with cabal, either at Saladin or his own finding. And then this severance. A firm middle finger was given and his temperament was shot both before and after, occasionally turning goals shitty excuse of back talk into a compliment for the empress, as a way to do… something…. All I know is caitel is more worth standing with than most would ever admit as a person. And a leader.
When the trailer for the season first released, I was so intrigued by the splash art with Crow, Zavala, and Caiatl and their respective nightmares. While Zavala's was much more of a deep cut in Safia, and Crow's was obvious in Uldren, I was on such a thin line with who I wanted to see as Caiatl. The head made it seem more obvious it was Ghaul, but I swore the armor looked wrong, and hoped it was actually going to be Umun'arath.
Caiatl certainly has this Clan's respect and full Support. And after this season I'm willing to bet this will solidify our alliance completely...provided Calus doesn't have some sort of plan to keep that from happening 🤔. That said, we now update you on the on-going series "Banshee vs Telesto: the Phantom Menacing". Xur has seemed a bit, off recently. Guardians had been reporting that weapon rolls in his inventory had been changing with each purchase. And while Xur's "Game Show Host" persona seemed to be the reason for the change. There are those who believe that Telesto may have something to do with it. Xur does visit the Tower quite often, so Telesto interacting with him is possible. But what happens when 2 forces as strange as these two start to combine? Nothing good I'd wager, but you'll have to tune in next week to find out!!
Id honestly love to see a point where either our gaurdian or Zavala coming to the side of Caital and having something of a "heart to heart". Putting aside titles and speaking with each other not as leaders or heroes, but as individuals. Reminding her of her roots and the reasons she grew from them instead of withering and explaining how that "she is enough". She has been through hell and how that she has been truly tempered through the fires of her life and reminding her of that fact.
I really wish Caiatl could hear what you said at the end there. As it is - an honest statement from someone who never expected their words to reach her ears.
I’m glad they brought Ghaul back into the picture, sort of. Nice to get more backstory to the villain of the original story of Destiny 2. RIP vanilla campaign, I liked ya enough.
I'm wondering about the final mission or two. I'm wondering if our guardian will face a nightmare and who it will be. Cayde-6? Maybe Savathun will face a nightmare of Oryx? Or Taox? Though that would take some hefty story progression in the next couple weeks, but I thought it'd be really cool!
Here’s my theory. Sense the Emps was a bad father. Gaul was the closest the Empress had to a father. Gaul cared for her where Callus didn’t, Gaul most likely consoled Chital where Callus butchered Chital dog. So yeah, that’s my logic.
In Sever - Grief, Zavala mentions "a Nightmare he couldn't bring down". I think this same Nightmare Gladiator has been harassing us since the season's opening mission.
I would actually love to do the story mission if i could actually get a bound presence to drop, because locking the story behind a chance drop is a very very smart thing
Question: Can players still join factions in Destiny 2? I know we're in a sense already in the Vanguard when we help Shaw at the Cosmodrome, but I would still like to know exactly
@@marcusblackwell2372 Lakshmi was the leader of the Future War Cult, and during Season of the Splicer, she started a movement to rally the other factions and members of the city against the Vanguard and the House of Light out of fear and hatred for the Fallen. This almost resulted in a civil war of sorts, with the Vanguard defending the Fallen under House Light's banner from the civilians and those of the factions that were enacting violence against them just because of their race. In an effort to gain power and lead her coalition to victory, Lakshmi used Vex tech to open a portal inside the Last City, specifically in the outskirts where the Fallen encampment was. Immediately after opening it, she was killed along with others that thought they could control or at least direct the Vex to kill the Fallen. The Guardians arrive shortly after the portal is opened and close it after entering the Vex space, saving House Light. After this, the factions and their followers elect to abandon the Last City rather than face possible retribution by The Fallen or The Vanguard. They're gone, but not forgotten though. When Savathun appears on Mars, you find through the investigation board of Ikora's Hidden that she's been in communication with Arach Jalal, head of Dead Orbit. So, it's possible we'll see these groups reappear later, but for now, they're apparently operating on the edge of the system, independent of the rest of the groups of humanity that we see regularly.
I'm curious to see if the Memory of Gaul will help her and in turn us in the fight to come? He may have been a bad boss battle but hearing from the lore, we need someone with great fighting tactics in the wars to come.
I always kind of thought Ghaul was her fear because she believed in his way over her father’s. For war and tactics were needed. But she doesn’t want to end up like Ghaul when it comes to his end. So like the traveler, and it’s like, Caital has her father and his darkness/schemes she has to end before it destroys everyone. But she is also too stuck in her mind of “I have to be the brave loner” or “if I get help I’m weak” instead of realizing she is there because of a group working together and if that is the message next week, I feel it could make her a better leader as well as a better member in the peace union. Even going as far as giving Forge a chance at freedom through tournament. Only for him to turn it down maybe for he is more akin to cabal than to the vanguard and hopes to train a new legion or something.
Life debt means “for life.” Saladin is not exactly a hostage. He chose to serve Caiatl as reparations for Crow’s actions. She doesn’t need to offer him freedom like a gladiator slave. Even if she did, it’s still not something Saladin would accept.
@@acgearsandarms1343 Saladin was a war slave just like how the Roman’s and such handled them 😂 remember Cabal reflect the Roman belief and social system. As well he volunteered because he knew and respected the cabal’s system as it was akin to his own with the wolves and iron lords. An if you don’t support and lead the young properly, the older and wiser should pay, not the young, was his belief as a pack leader. An as I said, Saladin would turn it down maybe for his enjoyment of cabal compared to the vanguard. As at least cabal followed orders and followed through on an ideal compared to the way the vanguard is.
First of all, you don't need to apologize for taking time off. The best way to make the excellent content that you do, is for you to be in the best mind space. That being said, I've gotta wonder, why aren't we getting a Nightmare? Crow got his old self. Zavala got an old Loved One. Caitl got an old mentor. Hell, Ikora even got Cayde (which we should have got but they were older friends, so I get it). It's just got me wondering.
Not gonna lie when i saw the introduction cutscene i couldn't even name ghaul anymore because he had very little impact or impression left after the original campaign for D2 to the point i forgot ghaul was even a thing in the first place...i was genuinely sitting there like "what's his name again, garry? no that cant be right" as all i could think of was cayde's speech from one of the trailers.
I have a question for the community of destiny about destiny 1 and 2 i really want to play both destiny 1 and 2 but about the seasons it is possible to replay past seasons and events that already happened ? And i really hope some day i could meet the fans and community of destiny alike and play with them
Devotion inspires bravery, bravery inspires sacrifice, and sacrifice leads to death. whose to say caital won't gain the light, can't wait to see how she'll succeed where ghaul failed.
I have a question kinda unrelated. What happened to Caital's mother? Did Calus have a wife or consort he loved more than any other? I don't remember reading or hearing anything about her? Or is Caital a Calus Clone?
Caiatl believes she is a failure because she unfairly judges herself by the old Cabal standards of conquest. But as she herself has said to Zavala when he felt like a failure, for those who truly care about their people leadership will be a burden not a privilege and one they bear because they must. And it is because of the old Cabal ways of conquest that those she once admired FAILED while she still stands. Because unlike them, she had the vision to understand that in order for her people to survive they had to change and become something new rather than cling to old glories. And she had the strength to hold to her convictions even in the face of her own people’s dissatisfaction because she knew it had to be done. Ghaul was a conqueror who failed to adapt to a changing universe and died on the pyre of his ambitions, Caiatl is a leader who cares about her people and has succeeded where he failed. Ghaul may have helped mold her, but her own humility and courage created something greater that ultimately stepped out of his shadow and became what he could never be.
Funny enough it would seem she became the ideal face of both the Cabal's Proud and honorable Warrior history, but also now a ideal of finding happiness in peace like her Father turned the Cabals way of life upsidedown to one of Opulence and peace , but without the corruption of the "Fat" he also brought about.

And he destroyed our vaults full of loot
He is a Cabal hero, the only man to ever truly threaten the Traveler and his Guardians. I am sure many among the Cabal Ascendancy still revere him.
@@Mediados Well, even in the Sever mission she mentions something along the lines of "your Ghaul was a monster, ours was a hero"
@@Exaar I’d wager they’ll both be relevant again if/when Eramis thaws from her frozen tomb.
@@gavo7911 It is I from the future were the shipstealer has returned
I agree.
@@GusJenkinsElite
I mean mentioning her by name.
First, I want the Eliksni be again chosen and no more be the "Fallen" and more like the "Redeemed"
@@AlexAguilarAnguiano Nah, I want them to stay fallen so I can keep genociding them.
Can we talk about the fact that caital called out a ghost to throw hands
Great job!
Umun’Arath was literally her second-in-command and best friend
Not to mention Caiatl killing her and casting her into the soul fire completed the ritual to let Xivu run wild on Torobatl.
I chalk Umun’Arath not appearing this season to Bungie not wanting to design her in-game. Which meh is fine. Ghauls interaction with Caiatl this week was great tbh
I just think it’s such a shame we never got to see her or fight her 😔
@@shooterDisease Yeah but since she only appeared in a lore tab I see why they wouldn't include a new character when they have one that everyone knows.
Fun fact if you go behind the shelf holding the hammers at 3:40 you fall out of bounds. I unfortunately discovered that while bobblehead hunting.
Everyone loves to rag on Ghaul, but I always liked him as a villain.
Wish he'd made more a presence during the Red War.
@@Wulfspyder agreed
1st enemy to use light so he is good
My too, I like him.
I noticed the New Purpose lore mentions red sand. Maybe the Cabal are so intent on taking Mars because it’s similar to Torobotl?
There was a Playstation article from one of the Bungie narrative team members who discussed why Ghaul is important to Caiatl, I really liked their explanation as well. They also go into detail about inspirations behind this story and such, very interesting insights.
I think this was before Calus killed the dog. He mentioned her wearing a tunic, but it’s mentioned she wears a compression suit around him after that
I used Ward of Dawn for my Titan runthrough of Sever - Rage, and Deadshot Golden Gun for my Hunter.
Maybe Caitil is sort of having second thoughts on her part of the coup. Even though it’s already too late for that
Nah
If she has any regrets about the coup it's not letting Gaul kill her father then and there.
And that would really be ironic since Gauhl stole the light.
oh my god we're getting Byf in cursed Halo? Yes PLEASE
Caiatl's sever mission was my favorite so far, I got to fight along side some allies for a change. It's refreshing.
Real question is what is our guardians nightmare, is it telesto?
i was a bit confused when you said that the nightmare was arath because when i saw the nightmare i immedietly recognized him as ghaul

That frag grenade just rolls on the Wild Magic table for its effect 🤣
Interesting thing I noticed, the Shadowkeep Nightmare Hunt featuring Ghaul is also named Rage.

I always liked Ghaul, and the more we get of him this season I wish he wasnt wasted so early on.

Hey Byf curious on your thoughts of the possibility of Calus giving us our next darkness subclass
Hey Byf somewhat random request but could you show your build from this video? It looks really fun and I would love to run it
Here’s my theory.
19:04 - excellent word choice
I just thought the severance was called rage because thats what the nightmare hunt for ghaul is called.
I would actually love to do the story mission if i could actually get a bound presence to drop, because locking the story behind a chance drop is a very very smart thing

@@cbandit7715 yes. I've already progressed up to date in the seasonal story. It legit just wasn't giving me the bound presence
Question: Can players still join factions in Destiny 2? I know we're in a sense already in the Vanguard when we help Shaw at the Cosmodrome, but I would still like to know exactly
No, the factions abandoned the Last City entirely back during the Season of the Splicer after the death of Lakshmi.
nope factions were entirely removed from the tower in splicer and faction rallies have been gone since forsaken
@@LucienYT Dang... Wait, question because I started playing after that time: Who is Lakshmi?
@@LucienYT Well, it seems like the justification is good enough. She doesn't sound like a very friendly individual
I can see saladin as a future dominus, dominus forge, the right hand of caitl
Ngl I just assumed you hadn’t been making vids bc Bungie’s been doing such a good job with the story lately

Someone needs to give Caitl... I don't know, a tiger.
She's mad that she killed her pops for trying to stop being conquerors when she now sees that needless bloodshed is a better way
I always kind of thought Ghaul was her fear because she believed in his way over her father’s.
I don’t play destiny 2, but I heard what happened, but the point is I’m subbing!

Did we ever get a skrank gang lore video?
Excellent work.

Devotion inspires bravery, bravery inspires sacrifice, and sacrifice leads to death. whose to say caital won't gain the light, can't wait to see how she'll succeed where ghaul failed.
Imagine when we face OUR Nightmare: Taniks Mounting A Worm God!
I've seen Taquin play Cursed Halo. This TSLAYP series is going to be epic.
It is really throwing me off that he's been playing titan recently.
One of the GCX milestones was that Byf had to play as Titan for the rest of the season
Ghaul could honestly be the Ceasar of the destiny universe with Caitl being the Augustus
dan jon the death singer, dat wud be fun to see during the rader thon
I have a question kinda unrelated. What happened to Caital's mother? Did Calus have a wife or consort he loved more than any other? I don't remember reading or hearing anything about her? Or is Caital a Calus Clone?
This is one of those time our guardian or ghost could talk. Whenever Ghaul shit talk Caiatl, we’d shit talk him back
Caiatl believes she is a failure because she unfairly judges herself by the old Cabal standards of conquest.
I was about to sleep and I see this 💀
Hey Byf what is your titan build? I'm just wondering cause I haven't seen a lot of Void builds during this season (cause its Solar 3.0)
Ah yes, Gary, the worst Skydiving Teacher ever, my worst Nightmare
Funny enough it would seem she became the ideal face of both the Cabal's Proud and honorable Warrior history, but also now a ideal of finding happiness in peace like her Father turned the Cabals way of life upsidedown to one of Opulence and peace , but without the corruption of the "Fat" he also brought about.
Honestly I thought it was definitely going to be Ghaul, would have been way neater if it was her teacher but I knew Bungie probably wanted to put in one last Ghaul boss fight before the moon gets sunset
Bruh what is the music in byfs outro called??
Byf doesn't eris have like 5 nightmares just asking cause in shadow keep she has them around her
