To this day, I think I agree that X is my favorite album of all time. Maybe it's just because I was at the right age for it to hit me at the right time. I don't know. I have also really grown to like "Subtract" though. It honestly hit so hard to me personally the first time that it took me awhile to come around to being able to really listen to it. So, I guess for me it's a somewhat close tie between X and "Subtract" for very different reasons.
I'm sooo happy I got to see him live on the Multiply tour! It was so good, back when he didn't sell out stadiums but was in a smaller venue with amazing sound quality. Bloodstream was absolutely insane live.

Ed writing Nina is probably the closest I’ll ever get to having a song written about me. I loved the album when it came out but haven’t listened to it in a while so I forgot how much I love it. I saw him live last year, what he can do with a loop pedal is amazing! Bloodstream live was an experience.
I love how you both appreciate the music on your own way. Ryan always is so excited just to sit down and share some of his favourite music with a friend. It's the excitement and pure passion that shines through him that makes the videos so enjoyable. And also, there's Zach. He's so quiet and seems very down to earth, but that's the thing - he doesn't have to say much, 'cuz it's crearly visible how he can read into the music he hears and simply enjoy it without saying. About Don't, It's really messy because they never dated, ellie stated that, immediately when the rumors where coming out, several times but weirdly no one believed her and sided with Ed, she got slut-shamed (especially british tabloids) til this day, and years later, Ed apologized (on a magazine) for no saying anything/ or stepping out for Ellie, but it was too late, they made amends too, but affected Ellie bad both mentally and popularity wise, funny too the song that is rumored to be a response to Ed is 'On My Mind' which is really straight-forward, 'You don't mess with love, you mess with the TRUTH' outstreamed and outcharted Ed's 'Don't', but it didn't clean her image, at the end it feels like ed got told No, and got pissed and wrote a song as a tantrum without thinking on the consequences, and it was dropped in a more misogynist time (2014) pre-me too movement, maybe if it was released now the reception would have been different.
of please the song isn't about cheating but feeling lead on/used by the woman in the song, who had often been hanging out/flirting with Ed (as seen my many photos at the time) and said wanted to be more than just friends, and then hooked up with Ed's close friend at the same hotel they were both staying at, anyone would be upset being treated that way, whether male or female (why is it ok for women to treat men like that but not vice versa, she would be told 'girl power' and singing about her feelings). Ed didn't want people to know who Don't is about, and got the UK tabloid article removed that started the gossip, and had an opportunity to help boost sales during The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2014 but refused to say who song was about. Ed and his wife are friends with Ellie and her husband, and Ellie has defended Ed's right to be inspired by whatever for his songs. On My Mind is about a one night stand, and if they never hooked up according to you, the song can't be about Ed
Ellie admitted a few years ago that she was hooking up with guys and drinking too much back then, felt pressure by producers/label/manager to act a certain way and dye her hair blonde, all that lead to get being dragged by media etc . Plus there's rumours she cheated on her boyfriend with Skrillex, and also that she slept with her close friend (another female artists) boyfriend, so her fans were beefing with many artists fan bases back then. The only people who usually bring up Don't gossip after 9 years are Niall/1D fans, who think it's funny or he was a stud for hooking up with Ellie. Ed, Ellie and Niall are all friends, so think they know more about the situation than media and people still gossiping 😃
